Amy's Story 2

The next day Amy went to school as usual and hoping to run into Kevin. She wanted to let him know that she could go to the dance before art class last period. She saw Kevin in the hallway but was unable to talk to him since the bell rung signaling first period. As Amy was sitting in first period she day dreamed about what she was going to wear to the dance and hoped that her mother would taker her shopping tomorrow since it was Saturday. Amy wanted one of the dresses she had seen in the store that other times her and her mother had been looking. Amy went through first, second, and third periods without a sign of Kevin until lunch time. Kevin was sitting with his friends and had spotted Amy across the room sitting alone at a table by the window. He got up and walked over to the table she was sitting at and asked...1

"May I sit here with you Amy?"2

Amy looked up and smiled at Kevin and said, "Yes, Kevin you may sit with me."3

Kevin sat down with Amy and they started talking about their morning classes when Kevin asked Amy if she had asked her mother if she could go to the dance with him.4

"Um yeah I asked my mom if I could go to the dance" Amy said "and she said I can go with you."5

"That's great Amy, would you like to go somewhere for diner first or would you just like to go to the dance?" Kevin said.6

Amy replied, "I think we should just go to the dance. I don't want to chance my mother changing her mind about going to the dance at all okay?"7

"That is fine with me Amy" Kevin said. "Since the dance isn't for two weeks how about we talk about a pick up time closer to the date?"8

"That sounds good to me Kevin, by the way, do you have my calculator with you now? I will need it for my Math class next period."9

"Yeah sure... here you go. Well, I better get going; the bell should be ringing soon. I will talk to you later Amy."10

"Sure Kevin, see you in art class."11

Kevin and Amy went to their next classes both smiling due to the conversation they just had. Amy went through math class and started the next class when there was a knock at the classroom door and the secretary told the teacher that Amy was needed in the office. Amy was excused from class and went to the office and when she arrived she saw the reason why she was brought down there. Jack was waiting for her and stood and walked over before the secretary could tell her what was going on. Jack was telling her that her mother was in the hospital and that she needed to come right away. The principal excused her for the rest of the day due to the circumstances and let her know that he would talk to the rest of her teachers about her absence.
