{Part 2 ~ Utopia}1

The sight of a lone village wrapped with emerald forests and sapphire body of water reminded me of a painting that my grandmother had shown me. The ember skies painted with a spectrum of reds, oranges and yellows of the setting sun.2

“Why is there a sun in the centre of the earth?” Kiku asks as she gets off me and stands at the edge of a small cliff and overlooks the small village with its moderate sized building at the top.3

“I don’t know but we will shortly” I say as I point at a group of people with swords walking towards us. Kiku quickly retreats behind me as I stood in front of her protectively. Fear rise up in my chest but I refuse to show it as I watch the people surround us with intimidating looks.4

“Take them” One soldier says as I push Kiku over the edge as the man grabs me harshly by the arm and threw me to the ground. I hear a faint thud as my world started to dim to black.5

I felt Mizuki push me over the edge as the soldiers advanced on us. The air pushed against me as I fell, fear took over as I try and open my eyes only to feel that they are glued shut. I reach out but the force become to strong as my arm remains close to my body.7

I am going to die young and a virgin8

Being a Virgin is not bad, but I want to feel sexual pleasure at least once in my whole life. Now I won’t, that is until I felt like I landed on something soft. I felt around, well, as much as my aching body could allow and noticed it is moist, like a sponge. I slowly lift my head and observe the dark area that I had so gracefully fallen into, only to discover I was in a cave of some sort.9

I slowly get to my feet and walk towards what I believe is the entrance. I made it to the other side and notice that the entryway was blocked by a rock, I give a small push and notice I had entered a dungeon area and Mizuki looking at me.10

“Great, now we are both caught” She mutters as I walk up to her. I sat next to her as we look at the cell door.11

I continue to look at the door as Kiku sits there chewing on her nails.13

“We are being forced to entertain the Prince, the prize is Raiku’s life” I mutter as Kiku jumps to her feet and face me. Fear and Anger could easily be seen on her face at the mention of the prize.14

“Why? Why are they doing this?” Kiku says as I shrug and look at the floor.15

“They see him as a Kami-sama or a god” I say as Kiku’s jaw drops.16

“You’re kidding me?”17

“No”18

“This is most unfair” She says as she sits down and leans on my shoulder. “I guess I will rest for now” Kiku adds as she yawns and drifts off to sleep, I watch the door a little longer and felt myself drift off to a restless sleep too.19


[Next Day?]20

I awoke to the sensation of being dragged along the hard floor. I look up to see one of the guards dragging me behind them as I was pulled to some unknown area within the castle. I groan as the stop and threw me into a sandy arena.21

Cheers fills the air as I look around to see thousands of people in the grandstand, they look like me and Kiku but the small wings on their back told me a different story. Kiku ran to my side in fear as we see someone adorned in a black kimono stood up. The people fell silent.22

“Prince Kai has arrived” The man says as another man with long light blue hair adorned in a silver and red kimono sits in the elaborate chair. I look at Kiku and back at the man. He looks coolly at us and then waves his hand. 23

I look around cautiously until a winged beast made itself known with a loud squawk. I look and spotted a griffin, its beak glistened with a red liquid as it fell from its jaw, and it flexed its claws while it hovers above us.24

“Kiku hide” I say as I pick up a rock and threw it at the beast to keep its interest on me as Kiku hid in one of the archways. The crowd roars as the rock made contact with its eye and fell to the floor, squawking madly as it turns on me. My eyes widen as I ran around looking for a weapon to defend myself.25

The griffin threw itself at me, as I narrowly dodge it and move more into the centre of the arena. I turn and look at the griffin as it eyed me angrily. I continue to look around dodging the restless attacks of the bird. 26

Eventually I lean up against the wall in exhaustion as Kiku looks at me worriedly. I felt something tap my shoulder as I look up to see the long-haired prince as he drops the sword he was poking me with. I slowly reach down and pick it up as I continue to keep eye contact with the Prince’s gold eyes.27

“Fight and show me what lies in your heart” He softly says as I nod and remove the scabbard from the sword and observe the silver blade. Its surface glistened lightly in the setting light as I notice a beautiful phoenix design on it as I carefully wielded the sword. The beast lashed out at me as I swing the sword only to miss and land face first into the ground. The crowd laughs at me as I growl.28

“Mizuki, don’t give up” I hear Kiku yell from her corner as I get up and slash again, missing once again. I growl even more as the crowd continues to leer at me, the griffin swing its wing, which slams into my ribs and in returns sent me hurtling into the wall where the prince is leaning against.29

“If you survive this, I will teach you how to wield a sword better Okami” Kai mutters as I push myself off the wall, despite the fact that my body objected to this abuse. I still wanted to protect Kiku and that means eliminating this pest. I swang blindly once again, only to make contact as I felt something spray against my face. I close my eyes as I swang out this time. I slowly open it to see the griffin’s beak inches from my face and the sword embedded in its throat and slowly cutting through to the other side. I push more as the beast wails in pain as the blade hacked through its throat. Not long after, the head fell to the floor with a thud.30

I slowly breathe as I register what just happened. An eerie silence fills the stadium as Kiku walks towards me, just as Kiku reaches my side the crowd broke out in a roar of cheers. I look around at them as they cheer. I felt my head start to ache as I fell forward into the darkness.
