Pride Comes Before Fall

Lucy's  P.O.V.:1

It  started  off  just  like  any  other  Monday  morning, only  today  things  were  different. As  I  reached  down  to  pick  up  my  fifty- pound  school  bag  off  the  hallway's  brown  and  gold  tile  floor, I  noticed  something  strange  sticking  out  of  it. Something  red  and  shiny...upon  closer  examination  I  realized  that  it  was  one  of  my  little  brother's  toy  cars. He  is  always  leaving  stuff  in  my  school  bag! Just  as  I  was  reaching  for  it, I  noticed  something  else, something  much  more  disturbing, heading  my  way...Shannon  Garner, the  most  popular  girl  in  Butterfiel  High  School  ( as  well  as  my  most  loathesome  rival  since  first  grade ), walking  hand  in  hand  with  Alex  Robertson-- only  my  ex- boyfriend  since  last  Thursday!!! Anger  instantly  began  to  swell  up  from  inside  me. Like  a  boiling, red  hot  tea  kettle, ready  to  explode  at  any   given  moment. I  couldn't  decided  who  I  was  more  angry  with- Him, when  he  knows  the  history  and  bad  blood  between  us. Or  her. Staring  furiously  into  her  piercing  blue  eyes, I  acted  impulsively. Using  all  of  my  strength  and  concentration I  casually  slid  my  little  brother's  toy  car  across  the  floor  in  her  direction. My  aim  was  perfect! Just  as  she  was  about  to  flash  me  one  of  her  infamous  serpent- like  smiles, her  and  the  moving  vehicle  collided! As  she  collapsed  onto  the  floor, her  legs  swinging over  her  shoulders, everyone  turned  to  look  at  her. Even  the  members  of  her  " fan  club "  couldn't  help  but  laugh  hysterically  as  she  struggled  to  get  up  and  then  slapped  Alex  across  the  face  before  strutting  to  the  nurses  office. What  a  glorious  day  it  became  for  me!2

Shannon's  P.O.V.:3

It  was  a bright  and  beautiful  Monday  morning... The  fragrant   flowers  bloomed, the  spring  birds  sang- all  for  me! Like  the  queen  of  the  school  I  am, I  walked  in  regality. Most  of  the  other, more  insignificant  students, lowered  their  heads  in  respect  as  I  walked  by. Some  even  covered  their  faces  and  looked  away, thus  realizing  that  they  were  totally  unworthy  of  looking  upon  me. Others, however, just  stood  gaping  at  me. They  were  noticing  how  beautiful  I  looked  in  my  new  lime  green  outfit  that  I  purchased  at  Forever  21  on  Saturday . I  even  got  matching  high  heels  and  a  purse  to  go  with it. I  looked  perfect! But  then again, I  always  do,  don't  I? Suddenly, I  remembered  my  purpose. To  get  back  at  Lucy  for  not  allowing  me  to  copy  her  algebra  test. I  had  to  teach  her   a  lesson. Show  her  that  I  AM  superior  to  her. And  the  best  way  to  do  that  was  to  make  her  think  that  I  was  with  Alex- that  dork  that  she  is  so  in  love  with. So  I  walked  proudly, holding  hands  with  Alex  until  she  finally  noticed  us. She  looked  so  mad, it  was  wonderful! Our  eyes  met, and  she  just  stared  at  me. It  started  to  give me  the  creeps. I  tried  not  show  it  by  smiling  at  her  when  suddenly  I   slipped  on  something! Before  I  knew  it, I  was  on  the  floor  and  everyone  was  laughing   at  me- like  I  was  some  kind  of  fool! And  dopey  Alex- the  one  who  had  let  me  fall  in  the  first  place- just  stood  there  looking  at  me! When  I  FINALLY  managed  to  get  up  I  gave  him  a  good  slap  in  the  face! Then  I  helplessly  limped  to  the  nurses  office  to  be  sure  none  of  my  delicate  bones  were  broken.4

Alex's  P.O.V.:5

So, it  was  the  beginning  of  another  school  day. Was  it  Monday  or  Wednesday? I  don't  really  know. Shannon  was  waiting  for  me  in  front  of  the  school  when  I  got  there. I  could  see  her  three  blocks  away  in  that  loud, green  outfit  she  was  wearing. At  first  I  thought  the  school  was  planning  a  Christmas  in  May  party, you  know? She  shouldn't  dress  like  that, it's  not  normal. When  I  got  to  school  she  began  acting  all  goofy  and  begged  me  to  walk  her  to  her  locker. She's  the  most  popular  girl  in  school, so  I  couldn't  really  refuse  her. I  kinda  wish  I  had've  though, 'cause  she  stunk! Chocolate  Bubblegum  Ice  Cream  perfume? I  think  that's  what  she  called  it. But  no  one  else  liked  it  because  they  all  held  their  noses  when  we  walked  by. I  was  looking  around  for  Jason  so  we  could  talk  about  the  new  Spongebob  movie  when  she  fell. She  just  slipped  out  of  my  hands  and  next  thing  I  knew  she  was  on  the  floor...This  blob  of  booger  green! I  took  a  step  back  so  she  could  get  up, and  when  she  did  she  slapped  me. I  don't  why  because  I  didn't  push  her  on  the  floor! Then  she  left  and  I  headed  on  to my  locker.6

Thank-you for your comments. They are very much appreciated. This isn't a true story, I actually made it up for a creative writing course that I took in college last year. Thank-you for asking, though! Take care!
