Jafar and the order of the lamp

It was Saturday morning. The sweltering heat of the day devoured Jafar as he sat in a flowerbed just under the front window of number 5, Arabia drive. His hiding spot kept him from being spotted by the Sultan as he tried to catch the sound of the evening news drifting through the palace he was hiding by. 1

“In today’s news, A lone elephant stumbled into the city and ate a small child. Top magicians are looking into possible evidence that this elephant attack might be linked to the mysterious disappearance of Gala Rafiel, who was said to last be seen in his shop making flying carpets for the Sultan, though nothing is certain at the moment.2

In other news, a flock of flamingos were chasing a bright red parrot North toward the center of Agriba, Were bringing you live to this strange scene with Jeffery Jeruselum…”3

Jafar stopped listening, the worst was over. If they had made such a big deal over the minor incident of birds flying together, there was nothing more of interest to hear. So they hadn’t found out about the desert yet. No matter, they would soon. Just as Jafar was about to get up and brush the dirt off his back, a loud crack sounded from out of no where. Jafar sprang up and smacked his head on the window just above him. Stars popped into vision, and Jafar rubbed his head where he had hit it, waiting for the pain to subside. Then he heard laughter.4

He whipped around, his snake staff at the ready, to find the Sultan, a lighter in one hand, and a couple of unlit fire crackers in the other. The Sultan roared with laughter, his fat little body shaking violently as he did so. Jafar lowered his staff and slumped out of the flower bed. 5

“ah ha, ha ha, Jasmine…. Ha ha, is going to kill you…. Ha ha, for ruining her flowers.” The Sultan managed to gasp between taking breaths to laugh. “I got you good, you should have seen your face!” He wiped tears from his eyes as he turned around and walked away, back into the palace. Jafar, used to this sort of treatment, just brushed it off as if it were part of the dirt he patted off his back. He could already tell this was going to be a long day, the Sultan was in one of those moods…6

It was in the menagerie, where Jasmine had sent Jafar to clean up after the doves, that things got a little strange. A fat red parrot flew down into the fountain, landed with a crash in the water, and made a huge splash. “Great. That’s one more thing I have to clean up, a dead parrot and a bunch of water…” Jafar grumbled as he went to check the damage done to the renegade bird. 8

Just as he got to the edge of the fountain, though, the bird shot out of the water and landed on the ground at Jafars feet. Coughing and spluttering, the parrot cried, “Jafar, I have an urgent message for you, and ive braved high seas, a flock of flamingos trying to kill me, and the paparazzi, to deliver it to you. Will you hear my message?”9

“… Uh, sure.” Jafar replied, not sure what to make of the bird or that fact that it could talk so well, even for a parrot. The parrot cleared it’s throat, “ahem, my name is Eogo. I’m here to assist you in a very important mission. There is an evil man, and his minions, who are trying to get a hold of something very important, a lamp of sorts. I have been sent by the order of the lamp to you. You have been deemed trustworthy and capable, in your position of power, to carry out the task we ask of you. Will you comply?”10

Jafar was confused, “wait, who is this order you speak of, and how do I know your even telling me the truth? How do I know your owner didn’t teach you to say that and then sent you here as a practical joke?”11

“Look into my eyes Jafar, know that I’m not lying when I tell you this is a matter of national security.” And Jafar looked, for the first time, into the egg looking eyes of Eogo, and he knew, by the depths of such eyes, that there was no way he was lying.12

“So this boy here, he’s the evil master mind were trying to capture?” Eogo had taken Jafar to a secret dungeon in the palace, a single crystal ball sat on a table in the middle of the room. “That’s him, look, he even has the princess held captive right now!” Indeed, the crystal ball showed him pulling the princess up onto a building. “Alright, I’ll send my guards to get him and the princess and bring them here.” Jafar said. He didn’t like this, it reeked of trouble he would rather never be in…14

Eogo then took Jafar to another dungeon. “This is where you should bring Aladin, that’s the boys name.” Eogo said. “It’s here that we’ll convince him to take us to the lamp. He’s the only one that can touch it, so we need him to get it for us. After he grabs it, We’ll make him give it to us; so we can keep it in a safe place. No one will ever use the destructive powers of this weapon, and you’ll be a hero.” Eogo spoke absently of the plan while he preened his feathers. And Jafar felt more and more at unease the more he talked.15

Those acting classes Jafar took in the palace were worth it after all. As he sat in the dark across from Aladin, waiting for the monkey to release him from his chains, Eogo snickered at how easy everything had been. Aladin got out and started talking to the monkey. Jafar stepped out of the shadows. Aladin saw an old man with a walking stick. “hello boy, would you like to make it out of this place, and not only that, but get rich doing it?”17

They found themselves in the desert, in front of a huge tiger; Aladin had set up the whole thing. He knew where the lamp was. And Aladin had to go in alone, that was the deal. Once he had the lamp, Jafar would pay him for the lamp and he would go. Now all there was to do was wait for him to come back with the lamp.18

Jafar started to take off his costume. “Not yet Jafar, you need to keep it on, when he comes back out, if he sees who you really are, he’ll just run. We need to lure him into a false sense of security.”19

So they waited. After a while something happened. The giant tiger hill head thing suddenly screamed and closed it’s mouth, then it disappeared, leaving only a sand hill in its place. And just as suddenly, four or five cloaked figures appeared out of no where. 20

“Jafar, you have done well, now go, and grab Aladin.” 21

“who are you guys?” 22

Eogo answered. “there isn’t time for questions Jafar, just do as they say!”23

A crevice opened up a few yards away, and Jafar went to it. Aladin was hanging on to the edge, “help me up!” he screamed. 24

Jafar reached his hand down and pulled Aladin up. “thanks man, I thought I was a goner there for a second… who are they?” Aladin had spotted the cloaked figures. 25

“Give us the lamp Aladin, and no one gets hurt.”26

Aladin looked around at them all, confused, and then comprehension dawned on his face. “you guys are the leaders of the forty thieves.” Jafar laughed. “no boy, these men are from an order to protect innocent lives. You’re the criminal here!” 27

“what are you talking about, these men are thieves!”28

“no Aladin, you’re a criminal holding a weapon of mass destruction. Hand it over, and I’m sure we can make a deal. No one has to get hurt.” one of the cloaked men said quietly. Aladin stood there for a second. Then he threw up his head and laughed. “If you come any closer I’ll Rub it, I swear I will!” The cloaked men stepped back. “Now don’t do anyting rash, we need that for our boss. We need it unrubbed. No one has to get hurt…” Aladin laughed again. “who am I trying to convince? Your all screwed!” A pile of smoke blew from out of no where around Aladin, and he was gone. 29

“We have to find him!” One of the Order shouted, and they all disappeared as well. But they didn’t have to look for Aladin. Aladin came to them.30

“Your highness, you must get this man out of here, he’s a terrorist, he’ll destroy your kingdom. As your advisor, and your friend, I’m telling you, please take him away!” Jafar pleaded with the Sultan as they walked to the meeting hall. “nonsense Jafar, that boy is priceless! You’ll see, I’ve set up a meeting with him. We have a surprise for you.” Bewildered and frightened by what Aladin could possibly have planned, Jafar had no choice but to go with the Sultan to the meeting chamber to see what was up.32

Jafar opened the door for the Sultan, and met a sight he did not expect. In the chamber were eight people, Aladin, Princess Jasmine, the five members of the order of the lamp, and a man that Jafar had seen only on the news. Eogo flew in from one of the upper windows. “Surprise Jafar! Ha ha, bet you didn’t see this coming!” Jafar was as confused as ever now. “What’s going on?”33

The Sultan cleared his throat, “allow me to explain. Ahem, we played an awesome joke on you! Ha ha, I was really bored one day, so I called some of my friends up to help me plan a really good prank. Eogo and the five cloaked men here are all college buddies, as well as Aladin. this gentleman here is Gala Rafiel, the flying carpet maker that went missing. It’s been all over the news. I kidnapped him so that he could help out as well. He made the special effects for the tiger hill and the secret entrance out of the jail cell you and Aladin were in. Jasmine got in on it after you ruined her flowers. She wanted some payback. She sent you out to the menagerie so that Eogo could speak to you there. She also filmed the whole thing from a distance, where you couldn’t see her. So now we can show the whole kingdom how stupid you are!”34

They all started laughing now, Aladin took the lamp and mimicked almost dropping it, “ahhh, oh, the precious lamp, wouldn’t want it to touch the ground, ha ha!” they were all laughing at him, even Eogo, who Jafar had taken a liking to until now. They kept laughing and laughing, the heat was rising to a boiling point in Jafars face.35

“ha ha, look, he’s blushing, what an idiot!” one of the cloaked men leered. The Sultan was imitating Jafar when he was in his old man costume, hobbling around in front of everyone else and laughing at Jafar.36

And then Jafar snapped.37

It took a very long time to get the palace down from the mountain. Everyone was pissed off at the collateral damage that a once harmless prank had caused. Jafar was chained to a wall in a dungeon, his staff safely away from his hands, even though he said he was calmed down. The number dead numbered in the hundreds, and many more were magicked in some way, enchantments that made you dance for days without stopping or prevented you from going to sleep, even when you were so tired you couldn’t stand up. Aladin stood next to the Sultans bed, shaking his head at the Sultan, who was in a full body cast. “We have him in custody your highness, with five guards surrounding him, and another five surrounding the room his staff is in. He wont be doing anything at all for a long time.” Aladin reported. The Sultan muttered through his cast, “Don’t talk to me like I’m your king Aladin, were best buds.” The Sultan sighed. “I cant believe what he did! There isn’t a punishment great enough…”39

Aladin suddenly smiled. “Actually my friend, there is. A new movie company is opening up. It’s called Disney. I say we give them the “true” events of this incident. Let him go down in history as the tyrant he really is!”40

The Sultan smiled to. “Yes, that’ll actually make me feel better, you’re a genious!”41

Aladin shrugged. “Serves him right.”42

“yeah, the damn poor sport.”43

“what did we learn from this?”44

“The hell if I know. Hey, the guys are still here, right? Jasmine is on vacation right now, I have this idea for a floating blue genie looking thing that would scare the crap out of her when she gets back…”45

Author notes

I went to town with this, just tried to have fun rather than trying to write good or make it make sense or anything normal writers do. So that means it could be a disaster or a success, hope you like it...

Man, Aladin is a jerk! Ha, this was a good, fun read for me. I liked the storytelling that made Jafar look helpless and clueless throughout the whole thing...until he smote them all with his staff. Byah! The grammar was a little rough, but who cares? Good Job!
