Episode 33 - Something To Talk About1

PREVIOUSLY ON REALITY - Doug started to persuade himself that he was a first year and this attracted the attention of Mrs Duggan who expressed her concerns to his parents. Doug invited a ‘friend’ round to his house but Kerry and Donald were horrified when they discovered that Doug was only imagining this friend. They decided to take action by looking for a therapist. Josh broke up with Delta. He went to a club with some other students and was shocked to overhear Kathleen say that she had been secretly dating Adam. Claire confronted Adam as to why he was avoiding her and the two ended up arguing. Julie found out she was pregnant. Her sister came to visit and told her to fix her problems before it was too late. On the way home from the city Dennis was horrified to see his father with another woman. He confronted Reggie but left in anger. When Dennis returned home, he guiltily told Julie about the affair, which left her devastated. 2

One year has passed and school is nearing its end. Doug rebels against going to therapy or being tutored. Adam questions why Kathleen has insisted on hiding there relationship for nearly a year. Josh faces up to some of his recent actions when Lucy visits from college. Dennis’s family troubles are at new heights as his father and stepmother have remained together for there now six-month old daughter.3

(The opening theme music “All at Once” by The Fray plays. The screen reads ‘One Year Later…’. We see a dark hallway and a baby suddenly starts crying, a minute passes by. Dennis suddenly bursts out of his room. His eyes are blurry and his hair is slightly scruffy. An annoyed look appears across his face. He storms into the main bedroom of the house, we see Reggie shoot up from a deep sleep.)5

Dennis (Loudly): She’s crying….again!6

Reggie (Sleepy): It’s not my turn, ask Julie7

Dennis (Huffs): No, you can ask her, I’m not the one who….8

Reggie (Lays back down): Just do it Dennis9

(He shakes his head and leaves the room to go downstairs. We see him walk into the downstairs spare room, Julie is sitting up reading.)10

Dennis (Whines): She’s crying, can you check her please?11

Julie (Smiles): Oh sorry Dennis, ya I will12

(She puts down her book and gets out of bed.)13

Dennis (Confused): Why didn’t you hear her, your up?14

Julie (Sighs): I’ve been a bit distracted you know, I ….15

Dennis (Rolls eyes): I didn’t ask for a story about it16

(He walks out of the room and we hear him going upstairs. Julie looks around the room and rubs her eyes, then she too goes upstairs. We now see her walk up to a cot in a small room, she leans over it and smiles.)17

Julie (Sighs): Oh little Stephanie, are you alright?18

(She picks the baby girl up and starts rocking her back and forth, the baby’s cries start dying down.)19

Julie (Happily): My baby girl, your okay…sshh20

(Julie slowly puts Stephanie into the cot and then yawns. She turns to the door and shuts it, she then sits on the armchair next to the cot and closes her eyes. We now cut to the next day. The song “Post Blue” by Placebo plays in the background. A toilet door reads ‘out of order’ inside here are Kathleen and Adam. They are making out heavily, Kathleen pushes away.)21

Adam (Puzzled): What?22

Kathleen (Paranoid): What if someone comes in?23

Adam: That’s the point of the out of order thing, anyway who cares24

(He tries to kiss her again, she rolls her eyes.)25

Kathleen: Come on, we can’t get caught26

Adam (Annoyed): Every time….fine27

(He walks out of the toilets in annoyance. Kathleen looks around and gulps. We now see Adam walking in the corridor, Josh suddenly jumps out at him.)28

Josh: Hey!29

Adam (Surprised): Oh…..Josh, hi30

Josh (Curious): What’s up?31

Adam: Nothing…..nothing….(Panics) nothing!32

Josh: Okay….so you been in long?33

Adam (Shakes head): Nope just got in34

Josh: Why didn’t you find me…kinda needed to…..35

Adam (Snaps): Look I was just in a classroom, nothing strange36

Josh: Right, anyway…you have homework over the weekend?37

Adam (Annoyed): Yeah, it’s really pissed me off….I thought with all the homework in 5th year that’d it be easier….obviously not38

Josh (Laughs): I know 6th year is……stressful39

Adam (Sighs): Very40

Josh: So any news…..on anything?41

Adam (Exhales): Nope nothing new with me, same old boring stuff, look I gotta go…get to class42

(He rushes off, Josh grins and then turns around to see Kathleen walking towards him.)43

Kathleen (Laughs): Hey boy, what’s going on?44

Josh (Shrugs shoulders): Adam seems annoyed….he’s weird lately45

Kathleen (Dazed): I know, more than normal too46

Josh: You know why?47

Kathleen (Defensive): I can’t say I do boy…trying to get a girlfriend probably, what a saddo48

(Josh looks around in amusement.)49

Josh: It’s okay, he likes sluts….maybe your safe? (Smiles) Bye50

(Josh walks off, Kathleen looks at the ground and then grunts, the scene ends. We now see Doug sitting on his own in a classroom, Mrs Duggan walks inside.)51

Mrs Duggan (Tilts head): Morning Doug, did you have a nice weekend?52

(She shuts the door behind her and places a pile of books on the desk in front of Doug, he looks extremely annoyed.)53

Mrs Duggan (Sighs): I thought we’d do some Maths today…but don’t worry it won’t be too difficult54

(Doug stares at the floor and refuses to look up. Mrs Duggan tilts her head.)55

Mrs Duggan (Loudly): Doug this is still school, you must pay attent…..56

Doug (Annoyed): I’m listening57

Mrs Duggan (Nods): Okay, well the rest of your year, well first….who’s your year group today Doug?58

Doug (Rolls eyes): I’m a 2nd year, obviously59

(Mrs Duggan blinks a few times and then siys down next to Doug.)60

Mrs Duggan (Concerned): We’ve been doing these classes since late fifth year Doug, it’s now nearing the end to 6th years second term. I don’t think were going fast enough and that’s down to you61

Doug (Huffs): Because62

Mrs Duggan (Strict): You’re not doing your homework, you skip many of our classes….were meant to have all the nine classes together but it usually turns out only to be five63

Doug (Loudly): I don’t skip, I go back into my class64

Mrs Duggan (Shakes head): No Doug, this is your class now…alright?65

(Doug folds his arms and stares down at the ground again. Mrs Duggan closes her eyes for a second, then she opens a maths book.)66

Mrs Duggan: Right, so do you remember the quadratic equations from last week?67

Doug (Looks around in thought): I think so…68

Mrs Duggan (Nods): Let’s revise them then69

(Mrs Duggan steps up to the blackboard and starts writing. Doug stares out the window and sees a PE class playing basketball, he sighs. We now cut to see Dennis, Adam and Josh all sitting around a table at break time. The song “Hotel Song” by Regina Spektor plays in the background.)70

Dennis (Yawns): I have to help all the time…..it’s just not fair, we have exams in exactly seven months71

Adam (Shakes head): I hate babies, they never shut up72

Josh: At least they don’t lie73

(Adam and Dennis look at Josh in confusion.)74

Josh (Shrugs shoulders): What, it’s true!75

(Josh gives Adam a look.)76

Dennis: My dad wants me to come home for lunch…..even though I said I didn’t want to77

(Dennis huffs, Adam looks around and sees Kathleen, a distressed look appears on his face.)78

Josh: What’s wrong?79

Adam (Obviously lying): I’m good, it’s just….(Thinks) Mark, were friends again… but he doesn’t want us to tell anyone80

Josh (Laughs): That’s hilarious81

Dennis (Laughs): It is on the funny side82

Adam (Annoyed): Why?83

Josh: He’s embarrassed to be friends with you….(Sighs) you have to laugh84

Dennis: Has he said why not?85

Adam (Frowns): Embarrassed….of me?86

Josh (Nods): Yep….do I have to mention the wall aka Martha?87

(Adam looks at the ground.)88

Adam: I was…a bit mad then89

Josh: Yeah cos Claire said she wouldn’t go out with you…imagine what will happen next, I wouldn’t wanna be the doors right now90

Dennis (Laughs): There he goes again91

Josh: Okay Dennis…calm yourself92

Adam (Shakes head): Anyway, isn’t Lucy coming back tonight?93

Josh (Smiles) Yeah, she’ll be there when I get home. It should be…..(Jumps underneath the desk) crap94

Dennis (Looks around): What, is it Stephanie?95

Adam (Amused): Who?96

Dennis (Sighs): My sister…the one who cries all the time97

Adam: ….oh….freak98

(They look under the table.)99

Josh: Delta!100

(They look around and see Delta wandering around the main hall on her own.)101

Dennis: I thought you didn’t care about her?102

Josh (Huffs): I don’t but I’ve refused to talk to her for like….a year and last week in class I sat on the floor….instead of sitting with her103

Dennis (Not amused): Typical, that poor girl104

(Josh gets out from under the table.)105

Josh: What!?106

Dennis (Disapproving): I just wasn’t impressed with your treatment of her, wasn’t very pleasant was it?107

Josh (Irritated): Thanks for that Dr. Phil108

(Adam sniggers.)109

Josh: Anyway, so I sat on the floor and then when the teacher asked what was wrong I said I was allergic to the chair….then he gave me detention110

Adam (Puzzled): Okay…how have we not heard of this?111

Josh (Sighs): According to Ryan, Delta begged everyone to keep it quiet….how boring is that112

(Dennis has his arms folded and is refusing to listen to the gossip about Delta. The scene ends. We now cut to late that day, we see Dennis walking towards his house. He opens the door and looks around. The song “Be Gentle With Me” by The Boy Least Likely To plays in the background.)113

Dennis (Shouts): Dad!114

(After not getting an answer, Dennis rolls his eyes in annoyance. He jumps back when a woman turns the corner, he doesn’t recognize her but we know her to be Julie’s sister Anita.)115

Dennis (Puzzled): Who are you?116

Anita (Grins): Oh, your father just went to the shops, I let myself in117

Dennis: I can see that and I’ll ask again, who are you?118

Anita (Shakes head); Julie didn’t tell you about my visit last year then, I’m Anita her sister119

Dennis (Face drops): Oh….I see120

Anita: Is that all I get, I’m basically your aunt Anita121

(Dennis starts walking off into the kitchen.)122

Dennis: Really, don’t you need to be related to my mother to be…..my aunt?123

Anita (Sighs): Well….124

Dennis: My mom died last year and I don’t think she knew you so….125

Anita (Huffs): What a charming young man you are126

(Dennis turns around and folds his arms.)127

Dennis: What do you want?128

Anita (Nods): I’m here to help my sister and you of course129

Dennis (Rolls eyes): Oh…..ya!130

Anita (Laughs): Your not a fan of that ‘ya’ either?131

(He ignores the question and looks at her impatiently.)132

Anita: I’ve had phone call after phone call from Julie for the last year….practically every other day133

Dennis (Disinterest): Wonderful134

Anita: To be completely honest I’m sick of my sister’s voice…..she complains about her problems…which shouldn’t be there anyway135

Dennis (Laughs to himself): Wait…..I don’t even know you, your standing in my house and complaining about someone who I’m not exactly bothered about, this is beyond sad136

Anita (Shakes head): Did your father teach you that?137

Dennis (Snaps): What!?138

Anita: To be utterly rude139

(He turns around again and keeps on walking.)140

Dennis (While walking): I have enough to deal with…without you popping into my life141

Anita (Sighs): Exactly, your parents are still together….we can change that, I can help142

Dennis (Coughs): I’m sorry but I don’t remember putting an ad in the paper for an annoying and extremely talkative nobody143

(He starts pouring himself a drink.)144

Anita: Are you saying your happy that there together?145

Dennis: I couldn’t care less about either of them, there just idiotic146

Anita (Claps hands): Oh so I see, you like them together?147

Dennis (Loudly): No!148

(Anita gives him a smug smile, he frowns.)149

Dennis (Shakes head frantically): This is ridiculous, I’d rather talk to Doug…..at least its entertaining150

Anita: Doug?151

Dennis (Annoyed): Just go, go to your sister for god’s sake152

Anita (Ignores him): Break them up, then life will be better (Grins) ya?153

Dennis: Very clever…..using ya against me, I’m going now154

(He walks away in irritation.)155

Anita: What if Julie’s having an affair?156

(Dennis stops and looks at her in confusion.)157

Dennis (Amused): She isn’t…..she’s the biggest doormat you’d ever meet158

Anita (Smiles): I know, but what if she was….how would your father react?159

Dennis (Folds arms): Aren’t you nice person160

Anita (Raises eyebrow): From what I’ve heard your not Mr. Sunshine either161

(Dennis looks around in thought about what Anita has been telling him. We now cut to see Josh sitting in his kitchen, Lucy is sitting on the chair opposite.)162

Josh (Smiles): So I know all about it….how can you hide something like that for a year?163

(He shakes his head and Lucy laughs.)164

Lucy (Awkwardly): So…Ann was telling me she’s been seeing you a lot165

Josh (Surprised): Really, where?166

Lucy (Coughs): At Day’s club and bar167

Josh (Face drops): Oh….wrong person I guess168

(He turns around to get a drink from the fridge.)169

Lucy: Josh….why are you going to that club…..not your thing really?170

Josh (Shrugs shoulders): I dunno….trying something new171

Lucy (Huffs): Really, with Mark and co?172

Josh: Just cos I go to a club doesn’t mean I’m friends with them….its just been a weird year173

Lucy (Laughs): Yeah sounds like it…I have to ask, Delta?174

Josh: I told you in the e-mail it just….didn’t work out175

Lucy (Unconvinced): Really, when I was last here you couldn’t get your hands off each other and it just didn’t work out, I’m not Cian, I can think properly …what happened?176

(Josh looks at the ground in discomfort.)177

Josh (Shrugs shoulders): I got bored….that’s the whole story178

Lucy (Shakes head): Oh great boyfriend, you got bored179

(There is an awkward silence.)180

Lucy (Folds arms): You know Josh, at least this hiding couple thing means Adams doing something, you cancelled the writing class, broke-up with Delta and your wasting time in clubs….(Huffs); I dunno what happened181

(Josh’s face drops, he seems offended. He gets up in annoyance.)182

Josh (Sarcastic): Great having you back Lucy183

(He storms out of the room, Lucy looks around with a frown on her face. We now cut to see Doug and his parents sitting around the dinner table. Doug isn’t even looking at his parents.)184

Kerry (Sighs): How was school Doug?185

Doug (Annoyed): You mean the retard hole186

Kerry (Disgusted): Do not use that language, you hear me….187

Doug (Baby noises): I’m a little toddler….(Shouts) That’s what you treat me like!188

Donald (Firm): Don’t raise your voice Doug, eat your spinach189

(There is silence, Kerry looks at Donald in dismay.)190

Donald: Well you won’t be going into school tomorrow, you have an appointment191

Doug (Confused): What….why?192

Kerry: Your going to see someone, just to talk for the day193

(Doug doesn’t look happy to hear this.)194

Donald: About anything you want195

Doug (Loudly): Shit!196

Donald (Shakes head): I don’t think they talk about that there…..(Realises) what did I say about language!?197

Doug (Shouts): I told you I’m not stupid, I’m not sick….I hate you!198

Kerry (Upset): No you don’t, don’t be like that Doug199

Doug (Cold): I do, you’re an idiot200

(Kerry puts her hand over her mouth in distress.)201

Doug (Sniggers): Look who’s the baby now202

(Donald stands up out of his chair and looks down on Doug in anger.)203

Donald: Get up stairs (Doug rolls his eyes) now!204

(Doug throws his knife and fork onto the table and rushes out of the room and up the stairs. Kerry is shaking her head while taking a mouthful of greasy vegetables.)205

Donald (Angrily): I’m the one who fucking needs therapy, change the appointment for the weekend206

(He walks out of the room, Kerry looks around in dismay. We hear Donald screaming at Doug, Doug screams back. Kerry exhales and continues to eat her dinner. The scene ends. We now see Adam walk up to a front door, he rings the bell and waits. Kathleen appears, she looks out behind him.)207

Adam (Annoyed): I’ve checked for stalkers208

(She quickly lets him inside, her mother suddenly appears.)209

Kathleen (Face drops): Mom….you just went to bed210

Mother (Horrified): I know, thank god I needed a piss then211

(Adam gulps in horror.)212

Mother: Who the hell are you, explain yourself boyo213

Adam (Stutters): I …..Kathleen…..she…….help!214

Kathleen (Panics): He’s gay!215

Adam (Annoyed): What!?216

(She winks at him behind her mothers back.)217

Kathleen (Hand over mouth): Oh my god…sorry Adam, I know you didn’t want anyone to…..know218

Mother (Sighs): I’m not stupid Kathleen, I can recognise a prostitute when I see one219

Adam (Offended): A what?220

Mother (Looks him up and down): He’s obviously been on the streets….he’s dirty all over221

(She sniggers to herself, she pats Kathleen on the back.)222

Mother (Laughs): Don’t be noisy girl223

(The mother disappears up the stairs, Adam looks baffled.)224

Adam (Discomfort): So…..that’s your mother225

Kathleen (Nods): Yeah boy226

(Adam shakes his head to get out of the shock, he gulps.)227

Adam (Sighs): Look…I wanted to know why were hidi……228

(Kathleen kisses him and they start walking up the stairs, Adam gives up his question. They go into Kathleen’s room, her mother looks at the closed door.)229

Mother (Laughs): Huh, gay…..good on her230

(We now cut to see Dennis watching as Julie is feeding the baby with a bottle in the kitchen. The song “Not Big” by Lily Allen plays in the background. He turns around and sees his father on a computer, he inhales and walks up to Julie. )231

Dennis (Smiles): How’s she doing?232

Julie (Surprised): You really wanna know, ya?233

(Dennis nods in fake excitement.)234

Julie (Grins): I love her to bits, your baby sister235

Dennis (Sighs): So….I saw that man talking to you today, the one from the meat aisle236

(Reggie looks over when he hears this, Dennis’s notices and seems satisfied.)237

Julie (Confused): What you mean Dennis?238

Dennis (Shrugs shoulders): Oh I just thought….you were friends, you talk a lot in the shop239

Julie (Looks around in thought): Do I?240

Dennis (Smug): Oh all the time241

(Reggie’s face drops in the other room, he hit’s the computer in annoyance. Baby Stephanie starts to cry, Julie quickly starts rocking her back and forth.)242

Dennis (Nods): Well see you later243

(He turns around and walks into the office where his father is sitting and shuts the door behind him.)244

Dennis (Fake confusion): Something wrong dad?245

Reggie (Angrily): I thought I heard (Sighs) never mind Dennis246

Dennis: No, please tell me dad…I’m interested247

Reggie (Huffs): Did you mention something about Bill from the meat aisle at the shop?248

(Dennis nods.)249

Reggie (Shakes head): I think he and Julie are…..having an affair250

Dennis (Coughs): No….I don’t think she’d do that…(Thinks) how’d you react to that?251

Reggie (Annoyed): Not well…I know I’ve had my fair share of….252

Dennis (Smugly): Affairs253

Reggie (Nods): Yes, yes affairs….but I’m committed to Julie now, she wouldn’t no she couldn’t do that to me!254

Dennis (Sighs): I don’t think so but then again I didn’t think you’d have a second one255

(Dennis turns around and rolls his eyes, Reggie looks around in distress. We now cut to see Josh pacing around in his rooms. The song “Better That We Break” by Maroon 5 plays in the background. He seems stressed. Lucy walks into the room and looks at him in concern. )256

Lucy (Sighs): I didn’t mean to offend you…sorry257

Josh (Sniffs): Offend me…you just lectured me on my whole life, cheers258

Lucy: Josh I just said what I thought, come on259

Josh (Huffs): Why does everyone criticise what I do, just cos I have problems…just cos I get the worst of everything260

Lucy (Shakes head): But that’s it, why do you get the worst?261

Josh (Laughs; annoyed): Oh I dunno, maybe cos my best friend ignored me for a year, my other friend went psycho, I was attacked by another psycho and I’m constantly waiting for something else to come and shove me back down262

(Lucy stares down at the ground and sighs.)263

Lucy: Everything isn’t that dramatic….it’s almost like you feed on drama, why?264

Josh (Irritated): Since when were you a life couch265

Lucy (Loudly): I’m not I’m trying to help you266

Josh (Rolls eyes): I don’t remember asking for it, it’s crap anyway….what I’m doing is fine267

Lucy (Sniggers): Why don’t you ask Delta?268

Josh: I don’t care about her…..269

Lucy: Who cares if she’s boring, even if she was the most boring person on the planet….you wouldn’t do that to someone, not before270

Josh (Defensive): Well maybe I’ve gotten confident, that’s a good thing271

Lucy (Sarcasm): Yeah Josh, being a complete self-centred idiot is a great thing272

(Josh turns around and shrieks.)273

Josh: Self-centred, since when was I…for Christ’s sake274

Lucy (Shouts): Even now, it’s all poor me, poor Josh….we have things to do Josh, we can’t just listen to your crap forever275

Josh (Angrily): Thanks for telling me this before you aba (Stops himself) whatever276

Lucy (Confused): No what was that?277

(Josh puts his hands over his face and continues to pace around his room.)278

Josh (Loudly): Before you abandoned me279

Lucy (Shocked):…..I went to college, how did I abandon you?280

Josh (Distressed): You didn’t but……(Looks around in thought) you didn’t281

(He sits down on his bed and exhales. Lucy walks up to him and sighs.)282

Lucy: Sorry Josh….but that’s what’s happened, you’ve gotten…..283

Josh (Looking down): Like a soap character, a complete sad case284

Lucy (Shrugs shoulders): I guess you could say it like that….I suppose285

(The scene ends as Josh stares at the ground and Lucy is sitting next to him. The next scene begins in the morning of the next day, we see a class of second years talking amongst themselves as Doug is sitting on his own at the back of the room. A male teacher walks into the room and looks around the class.)286

Teacher: Everyone in today?287

(The class look around and a lot of chat can suddenly be heard. One of the students raises her hand.)288

2nd year girl (Puzzled): Um sir, that weird ones at the back289

(He looks to the back of the room and sees Doug who he recognises.)290

Teacher (Confused): Doug are you meant to be in here?291

Doug (Confused): Of course292

Teacher (Sighs): But….your in 6th year293

Doug (Shakes head): I’ve told you all (Loudly) I’m in 2nd year294

(All the students in the class start sniggering, the class door suddenly swings open and a tired worried looking Mrs Duggan appears.)295

Mrs Duggan (Worn out): Doug, I’ve been looking everywhere….why would you come here?296

Doug (Annoyed): I said yesterday Mrs I was gonna go back to my class297

Teacher (Sighs): You’d better take him Joan298

Doug (Shouts): No….I said no!299

(The students all look on in complete confusion. Mrs Duggan looks at Doug in dismay, she breathes in and out.)300

Mrs Duggan (Smiles): Doug come on, we’ll play some sports301

Doug (Face lights up): Really? With another class?302

Mrs Duggan (Nods): Okay Doug, with another class303

(He gets up in excitement, gathers up his books and charges out of the room. Mrs Duggan gives the other students a firm look and then exit’s the classroom. We see them walking towards the main hall of the school.)304

Doug (Puzzled): I though we were going to the sports hall?305

Mrs Duggan (Shakes head): There’s been a change of plans306

Doug (Face drops): No sports?307

Mrs Duggan (Sighs): Just wait in the main hall….you’ll play in about ten minutes, okay?308

Doug (Nods): Okay Mrs309

(We see him walk into the main hall and sit on one of the chairs. Mrs Duggan walks up to the secretary’s office.)310

Mrs Duggan (Concerned): Please ring Doug Colon’s parents, get them to come here as soon as possible311

(The blond secretary nods and starts looking through some files. Mrs Duggan turns and stares at Doug who is now grinning away in the main hall. We now cut to see Kathleen and Alley in the girls bathrooms, they are looking in a mirror.)312

Kathleen (Sighs): Is this the right colour for me?313

(She points to her lipstick, Alley nods.)314

Alley: So what’s with the make-up, new boyfriend?315

Kathleen (Tense): No….just checking, gonna try and get one tonight316

(Alley shakes her head and puts some of her own lipstick on.)317

Alley (Laughs): How drunk do you think I get?318

Kathleen (Grins): What you on about girl?319

Alley: My god Kathy, I thought we were best friends320

Kathleen (Confused): We are….of course babe321

Alley (Gulps): Why’d you tell me about Adam….while you thought I was off my head on shots?322

(Kathleen refuses to give Alley eye contact, she stares into the mirror and catches her eye in it.)323

Alley (Disappointed): A whole year girl, that’s well bad324

Kathleen: I know but it’s Adam…. Adam!325

Alley (Shrugs shoulders): So what, I told you when I get off with that one who looked like a hobbit from those ring films326

Kathleen (Laughs): Oh yeah…he wasn’t too bad327

Alley: Who cares, I don’t get it328

Kathleen (Sighs): I like him, I really do….but what would people say?329

Alley (Shrugs shoulders): I dunno330

Kathleen: What will it be?331

Alley (Looks around in thought): Something to talk about?332

(Kathleen smiles at Alley who pats her on the head and scampers out of the bathroom. Kathleen gets out her phone and looks at Adams name on it, she closes the mobile and leaves the room as well. We now cut to see Dennis walking into his fathers shop at small break. He looks around and sees the meat aisle person, he approaches him.)333

Bill: Oh hello Dennis334

Dennis (Shakes head): Yeah, yeah….have you seen Julie?335

Bill (Face lights up): Yes she’s just over there336

Dennis: What about my dad?337

Bill (Frowns): In the backroom338

Dennis (Grins): So you like Julie then?339

Bill (Defensive): No my friend, I’d never…..340

Dennis (Sighs): It’s okay (Quietly) don’t tell but there not together anymore 341

Bill (Surprised): Really, that’s gre…..tragic342

Dennis: I’d prefer if she just went away….maybe you could help?343

Bill (Confused): Me, how?344

Dennis: You know run off into the sunset (Nods) all that jazz345

(Bill looks at the ground in discomfort.)346

Bill (Shakes head): I don’t know boy, I might be out of line347

Dennis: Bill I’m telling you, she’s smitten with you348

(He looks over at Julie who gives them both a big smile.)349

Bill (Cheeky grin): Your sure it’s okay?350

Dennis (Nods): One hundred percent351

(Bill starts walking towards Julie in excitement.)352

Dennis (To himself; smug grin): Sorry baby Stephanie….looks like your parents aren’t going to last353

(A boy is looking up at Dennis with a look of fear on his face.)354

Dennis (Dismissive): Oh go buy some sugar355

(The boy runs off in distress. Dennis now walks off into the backroom, he sees Reggie looking at some paper work.)356

Reggie (Shocked): Dennis, you should be in class?357

Dennis: It’s okay, I have a class off….I’m sorry to say but meat man’s making a move358

Reggie (Horrified): What!?359

(He gets up in anger and storms into the main shop. Dennis watches as he stands in front of Bill who looks guilty. A confused Julie and angry Reggie begin to walk up to the backroom. Dennis suddenly flees the and watches them go inside. He sighs with relief.)360

Dennis (To himself): Thanks Anita361

(The song “Something To Believe In” by Aqualung plays in the background. Josh walks through the main hall and sees Delta buying something at the vending machine, she turns around and sees him. He looks at her in guilt’s and waves. Delta ignores his gesture and walks out of the hall. He notices that Doug is sitting impatiently at a table in the hall. Josh sits down himself on the opposite side of the room. We now see Kathleen approach Adam in another hallway of the school.)362

Adam (Sighs): Bathroom?363

Kathleen (Gulps): No….main hall364

(Adam looks shocked and he starts to follow Kathleen as she walks towards the main hall. In the hall itself Doug seems to be becoming impatient, Mrs Duggan suddenly turns the corner with Doug’s parents at either side of her. Everyone looks at them in curiosity. Doug sees them and his face goes completely white.)365

Doug (Screams): No, no, I’m not going home….you can’t make me, no!366

(He jumps out of his chair and starts waving his hands.)367

Mrs Duggan (Calming tone): Please follow us Doug368

Doug (Terror): Don’t take me away, I like school….I have friends, please369

(Josh watches on as Doug starts to walk around in a circle. Donald tries to grab Doug’s arm but he pushes his father away.)370

Doug (Top of his voice): Stay away!371

(In outrage he starts pushing chairs down that were stacked on tables. Everyone in the hall are shocked at what they are witnessing. Josh stands up and stares at Doug’s outburst.)372

Doug (Starts pulling his own hair): No you can’t make me, I’m a second year…I’ll run, I will….no!373

(He starts looking around the hall in desperation, he sees Josh and screams. We now see Dennis taking a sneaky look at Julie and Reggie arguing in the backroom.)374

Reggie (Angrily): You slut…..how dare you humiliate me like this375

Julie (Fear): I’m sorry, I didn’t do anything376

Dennis (Grabs Julie’s hair): You’d better not be377

(Dennis looks staggered by his fathers horrific actions.)378

Julie (Gulps): Okay Regg please…I’m sorry379

(A guilty Dennis looks around in horror. We return to the main hall.)380

Doug (Desperation): Josh, you can help me, please Josh…..help me381

(Adam and Kathleen walk into the main hall and seem confused. Doug rushes up to a stunned Josh, he kneels down on the floor and starts frantically shaking. He grips onto a horrified Josh’s arm. Adam looks on in dismay. Josh looks down at the shaking and frightened Doug who is holding on tightly to his arm.)382

Josh (Panicked; looks at everyone else in the hall): What do I do, what do I do, what do I do?383

(The whole hall looks on in astonishment. Doug keeps on ranting and refuses to let go of Josh’s arm. The episode ends.)
