Far to the south in the ruins of a skyscraper surrounded by the debris of other fallen buildings, a creature rose.1
A thick mist swirled from beneath the long robe he wore, and out of the cowl. The sleeves reached past his hands, only the tips of sharp nails peering out from behind the thick black fabric.2
"Mario!" a voice rasped like the death rattle of a Rattler from the darkened depths of the cowl.3
Shuffling steps, muffled but thick dust, approached from a nearby shadow and the tall thin figure of a young vampire entered the light cast by the red moon.4
'Yes massster?" he hissed.5
"We move. Now!" the order was snapped in a cracked and dry voice.6
Mario fled the room remembering the consequences if an action was not immediately followed through as he passed the blackened remains of Marcus beside the door frame.7

Manolito stood atop the highest cliff above the valley, he looked down, heard the movements of villagers from within their houses in the small town below.9
Alessandra's home.10
No more. He clenched his fists, her place was with him now, even if she had been able to return to her normal life.11
A warm breeze flowed over him, the sun had just set, and the rocks still radiated warmth. Sweet warmth from the sun.12
Manolito gazed at the red moon. 13
Alessandra was becoming strong by the hour, by the day, startlingly fast, she no longer had to feed every day, in-fact, she only feed once a week now, if he was lucky.14
She was stubborn.15
He grinned and shook his head. She was beautiful. His Alessandra.16
"-tonight..." 17
The words came on on the southerly breeze. His head whipped around looking for the source of the rasped word.18
His inner demon came to ripping snarling life, knowing instinctively that who ever it was was not good news, that who ever it was was coming.19
With a move so fast it was invisible he spun and dove off the cliff free falling, spinning in the air before he slowed and landed in a crouch outside the cliff house.20
Spinning on his heel he flew through the door.21
"Darius!" he roared.22
His voice echoed off the walls of the hallway as he swiftly moved toward Darius's room. 23
Pounding on the door, he shouted again. The door clicked and swung open to reveal Darius twisting upon his bed a mash of sweat soaked muscle and pale skin.24
His sightless eyes stared at the ceiling, swirling black, his mouth open on a gasp as he struggled with the future.25
"We must go to Deathire palace..." he whispered before he fell silent and limp.
