you left me here
all alone in this world
my life a shriveled mess
my heart burnt to a crisp1
the words you chose
drove me eloquently to my doom
charring my soul
enraging my spirit2
My mind fled from me
as though flames tried to catch it
your cruelty engulfed my thought
as your hatred fueled my desire3
you couldn't have meant it
you wouldn't have said it
you shouldn't have left it
to burn to the ground4
my love for you swelled
as the fire you started spread
now at odds over who i am
and the letter you wrote was reread5
after it was burned into my head
it spiraled to the ground in a smoking heap
you should have left me how i was
now my life isn't the same6
with the loss of you
my life was altered
as the letter burned
the house sparked
losing you killed my soul
the way you put it killed me
Author notes
