What did her future hold? She didn’t think she could stay alone for eternity, that hadn’t been her plan. She had wanted to grow old with someone “I hate you Lorenzo” she cried. 1

Her pain was very real as she thought of Casimir, she had loved him, more than life itself and she knew he had felt the same. ‘Immortality, what was the point if there was no-one to share it with’ she thought.2

She took a pen and paper and wrote Casimir a letter:3

My darling Casimir,4

I have this secret that I cannot tell you, I firstly need you to tell me if your love for me is true. This thing I have to tell you will change both our lives completely, if your answer is no I will walk away and never bother you again.5

Please reply by letter, leaving it in the park on the bench underneath the old oak tree.6

In my heart always,7

Christina.8

When she reached the house she watched as Casimir sat in his chair, staring at the fire.9

After posting the letter she moved back into the shadows, just enough to be out of sight, but she could still see him as he scribbled something down on paper.10

He got his coat and walked to the park, he opened the letter reading it back to himself over and over. Christina willed him to put the letter down and go home, half an hour passed and still he sat there, staring into the darkness, waiting, and hoping.11

Just as she was about to make herself seen, he got up, placed the letter on the bench and went home. With trembling hands she opened the letter:12

My Christina, my sweet angel,13

There is disappointment in my heart, for surely if you question my love for you, you have to question your love for me?14

From the day I met you my love, my life had changed, I knew there was no going back, and I knew that no longer would I have to struggle to find someone to love.15

Just one last thing my love, please note, that I am willing to do anything to be with you, nothing you ask of me will be unfair. I will go through any test or trial you set for me.16

I love you with all my heart, Casimir.17

“Looks like he has doubts” Christina turned to face Lorenzo18

“What do you want Lorenzo?” she snapped19

“We have become brave my sweet, I knew that if I left you alone long enough you would show your true colours” he pulled her close.20

“And what is that supposed to mean?” she asked pulling away.21

“You have become cold and heartless, just like me, you question everything, everyone, and by the way, you were right” She watched him with wide eyes “I didn’t really love you, it was my duty for doing what I did, but you are mine and I will take you whenever I want”22

“Never” her golden eyes flashed with speckles of fiery reds and oranges.23

His mocking laugh sent shivers down her spine, she knew he would never be denied, but she would never give herself to him freely again. 24

She felt a boldness she had never felt before “You will have to release me once I am with Casimir”25

“You have to get him to agree first and remember, you can’t tell him”26

She pushed past him almost knocking him over “He will, trust me”27

Holding the letter firmly in her hand, she knocked on the door. At first neither moved or said a word, finally Casimir motioned for her to enter.  She could see that he had a lot of questions, questions that she could not answer yet.28

He took her hand “My Christina, I want no other my love, believe me?”29

“I do believe you, it’s just……..” she hung her head.30

He took her head in his hands and lifted her eyes to his, “tell me what it is Christina, what you want me to do?”31

‘Christina’ she could hear Lorenzo calling to her ‘remember, he has to do this himself, he has to want it’32

She closed her eyes, she knew he was right. She looked at Casimir, his eyes were questioning, she thought for a moment, “I have someone for you to meet” Christina tried to summon Lorenzo, but he was fighting her, with all her strength she managed to summon him to her side.33

Christina was about to introduce the two men, but to her surprise they were already acquainted. Lorenzo took her hand34

“You would talk in your sleep Christina, you would talk of nothing but Casimir, of how you loved him, I watched as your nightmare continued, I had to do something” Christina saw a look on Lorenzo’s face that she had never seen before, the hard serious lines in his face had gone, a softer more tender look was in it’s place. For once in her life, although wanting to say something, she could find no words.35

Looking at both men Christina staggers backwards, Casimir caught her before she toppled over the chair, “Lorenzo loves you Christina, and he always has” 36

She looked into Casmir’s eyes “You know?” 37

He smiled and nodded38

Lorenzo was pacing the floor, running his fingers through his hair. Casmir’s hand touched hers, she pulled away “I am…” he corrected himself “was a vampire hunter, Lorenzo came to find me”39

She pushed in front of Lorenzo, “You risked your life for me? Her inquiring eyes watched his. “Then why? What had been your reasons behind the things you said? What was that treatment for?” 40

Casimir took her in his arms, “Christina, look at me” she pulled away “wait, I have something for you” he pulled a piece of paper from his pocket “I was going to leave this instead of that letter, but I didn’t know if you would come to me”.41

She unfolded the paper, it was a poem, and it read:42

A Vampire Kiss43

You are all of the seasons, rolled into one,44

You are spring, summer, autumn, winter, so deep but so much fun.45

Your kiss is like the springtime, everyone brings life anew,46

I know forever darling that my heart will be for you.47

Your laughter is the summer, bringing sunshine through my pain48

I will love you now forever, in my heart you will remain.49

Your eyes are like autumn, dashing colours shining through,50

I love this season darling, but not as much as I love you.51

Your skin is like winter, perfect white just like the snow,52

Please make me like you darling, I want to feel it, I want to know.53

A vampire kiss is deadly, if you do not believe,54

I believe in you darling, is that a sigh I hear you heave.55

You look into my eyes; tenderly you start to cry,56

You kiss me like an angel; you lift me up so high.57

You bring your head down closer, my neck you gently kiss,58

What I’m feeling now my darling, is this sweet and gentle bliss.59

You gently lay me on the bed; you sit close by my side,60

Your eyes are full of pain, your guilt you cannot hide.61

You hold me in your arms and place a kiss upon my cheek,62

Your tears have started flowing and you cannot even speak.63

I get up from my resting place and we go walking in the sand,64

Together we’ll be walking, forever hand in hand.65
