Cristine's blood dripped like a crimson watefall from the tiny crevices on her arm. The razor blade was tucked nicely under the soft, white sheets and Kyle was enjoying himself. He hadn't fed in a few days except for blood substitutes and Christine's human taste was like heaven. 2

"Don't you think we should get back to the party? Everyone's gonna start wondering where we are."3

[JOURNAL[I still think about Kelsey. The baby that would've been my daughter but never got a chance at life. I guess I just didn't want her to live a life like mine, filled with crazy addictions, foster homes and the house for crazy people. Maybe someday when I'm older I can name my real daughter Kelsey. She can be the spirit of the first Kelsey but even better. James just didn't love her like I did, so I had no choice.]4

Kyle continued feeding, too intoxicated by her scent to hear what she said. 5

"Kyle! Enough okay?"6

Pausing for a second, he started to remember why he was really there that night.7

"You invited the hybrid girl right?"8

"Yes Kyle I did, she's my friend and her name is Jayde. You still haven't told me why your family is so obsessed with her."9

"We're not obsessed, we're the reason she's alive. Without my dad you never would've met her, she'd be lying underground alongside her parents."10

"How did your dad save her exactly?"11

"He brought her back to life, immortal."12

"You mean she's a vampyre like you and your family?"13

"Not just any vampyre. She's part human and part Sanguinarian. The most powerful demonic blood drinking monster of this era."14

Still sitting with Ty, Jayde started getting anxious. She had so many questions that needed answering but he wasn't gonna let her go. She felt like she was being held hostage and all the talking was just to kill time. Just as Jayde was giving up on trying to escape, Cristine's boyfriend came up to them. She had only heard about him before then, but never actually talked to him herself. Any judgement she had made of him was from what Cristine had told her. Jayde felt a strange pulse run through her body. Something told her she wasn't invited just for the party. Cristine must have set her up. 16

"Are you feeling thirsty? Would you like something to drink? Maybe a...fresh glass of bright, red punch?"17

"I'm fine, thanks. What do you want?"18

"You're lying. You're fighting the strong desire of a liquid so sweet it tastes like heaven. You're probably sitting here planning your attack on all these poor innocent people. Sucking them dry."19

Jayde didn't get it, the joke wasn't funny. She was dressed as a vampyre for Halloween. It didn't mean she was one, there was no such thing. "This is a costume dumb ass, not the real thing. Vampyres aren't real."20


"That's what you think," said a tall, older looking man. He looked identical to both Ty and Kyle in some ways but totally different in others. His face looked so much like the principal from her school but it just couldn't be. The principal wouldn't be at a party. 21

"You must be on drugs then, because everyone knows there's no such thing."22

"I'm not on drugs but I am a vampyre. You are too Jayde Delmont, I know because I created you. If it wasn't for me you wouldn't be alive today."23

Suddenly the man seemed more of a monster to her. Everything seemsed surreal, there was no way he could be a vampyre. Vampyres looked scary. They had fangs, really pale skin and slept in coffins. This guy looked mostly normal besides the pale skin but he didn't have fangs. Why would a vampyre wanna go to a Halloween party for teenagers and why did this one save Jayde? Wasn't he supposed to be out draining the blood from people and turning into a bat? This guy was out of his freakin mind. 24
