Chapter 3.1
She watched the commander fall asleep. She knew his routine now and was planning a time when she would be able to kill him. The timing had to be perfect so she would have time to get out. Climbing back down to the ground she ran, there was a family that was harbouring her. They also gave her information about the war, after she had killed this man she would have to go and kill the king of this land. As she reached the house she slipped in through the back door, the family was asleep. She went upstairs and headed toward the attic, as she passed the child’s room she paused. There was a little boy and girl. The girl was about seven or eight. Her expression was peaceful in the moonlight. Continuing on she reached the attic steps. Climbing up them she remembered the girl’s name, Anna. She did not know her name; she had forgotten it a long time ago, along with her past. All she knew was how to kill and that she killed who she was told to, everything else did not matter. She learned who her target was, their routine then the best way to kill them. Lying down on her cot she thought about her current target, he had evaded her about a week ago but wouldn’t be so lucky a second time. She fell into sleep thinking of a necklace, held in an enemy’s hands, one that looked awfully familiar.2

Renn started awake. The siege had been going on for a week. Neither side had gotten advantage. The Gorlond’s had tried many tricks, all had so far failed.4

He could hear the arrow whiz past his ear, almost scraping it. It thudded into the bed post where his head was a second ago. Renn stood up in fighting stance, sword in hand, searching the darkness of the corner. “Show yourself!” Renn shouted. Guards would be coming to see what was happening, they would be here in a matter of minutes, Renn just had to stay alive till then. Two daggers came flying from the darkness. Renn managed to dodge the first one but the second one got his lower leg. He saw, thankfully, that it wasn’t poisoned. A figure covered completely in black came toward him, a staff in their hand. Renn backed up, the assassin hand an advantage of longer reach with the staff. The assassin came within range and the fight began. The assassin was fast and Renn was on the defensive, with no chance of attacking. Renn took a step backward and felt his heel hit the wall; he had been backed into a corner. The assassin knocked his sword from his hand and tried to bang him on the side of the head, to knock him out. When the staff came round, Renn grabbed hold of it and pushed. The assassin went falling to the floor...5
