Brief intro to this: 1
The assignment was to discuss whether writing spontaneously or plotting out every step along the way was better. This is what I submitted. 2
I find a little combination of both works best. When I start a story, I know three major facts about the story before I even pick up a pen. One, How I want the story to begin, that being the opening chapter. The second is usually the turning point of the story. The last of course is a general idea of how i want to the story to leave the reader. I tend to 'swing' the rest. This will leave me with lots of room to be creative without many restrictions. I do plan the major characters names and usually the setting. I suppose, I lean towards the systematic approach. 3
As for the little images i try to plant in the readers head, I usually write those before the story. (As in a setting.) I like to write out a whole scenes description so I have a better understanding of the action in the story as i write it.4

Looks like you have this stuff all figured out.

Well, I only get that from you. Now, if only I could get you to publish some of those beautiful poems of yours! I'd be your biggest fan (I already am).

You are so good at this, Leanna. We're going to be reading your work right off the bookstands someday. You seem to have a good grasp of the writing concept and some very good habits growing along with your writing.
You're doing great !!!
