***warning: Ava is a character from one of my unfinished stories, so there's lots of spoilers here***1

Part 1: The Basics 2

Avarice. (Her parents gave her the name Sarah Trampton, but she doesn't remember that anymore.)4

I was born in mid-February, in the USA somewhere...6

My parents, I have forgotten. (They were Sarah and Carl Trampton, both killed in a plane accident when little Sarah was only 5. Somehow, though, Sarah survived the accident and ran away, living alone on the streets as an orphan.)8

4. Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like?9

I am an only child.10

5. Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people.11

I live with Thorn... a group of homeless girls just like me, who live in the dark, and are lead by a woman named Invidia. She gives us new names when we join, and mine was Avarice. They call me Ava for short. We are thieves, criminals because there is no other way for us to live. We live in the basement of an abandoned brick house.12

Thief... I steal money so that we can buy food.14

I have light brownish hair that's down to my shoulders and green eyes that sometimes appear blue depending on what I wear. I am more tall than short, but normal for my age. I weigh very little and am very skinny. My race is white. I dress in any rags I can come upon, which are usually used and worn clothing and jeans, dirt, but with few holes. They fit comfortably enough. I look like poverty, but am truly beautiful. 16

Probably the very bottom one... the forgotten ones, homeless.18

I have no arm strength... I can run like the wind but can't lift a thing.20

It sounds like glass, delicate, like china about to shatter. It's not a low voice, but in fact rather high. It sounds like a whisper all the time, even when it is loud, but always soft.24

"I don't care." "Just leave me alone."26

13. What do you have in your pockets?27

Money, and occasionally feathers that I find on the floor.28

I like to collect feathers, and I used to cry very often... but now I never cry anymore. I appear emotionless to everyone, which annoys people sometimes because they feel like I don't care about anything, but I actually do.30

Part 2: Growing Up 31

15. How would you describe your childhood in general?32

It was happy, up to the point where my parents died. Then, it was a fight for survival.33

16. What is your earliest memory?34

It was night. I had a bad nightmare... something about cars and black smoke... and woke up crying. My mother came over and gave me a hug, and sang a lullaby to me.35

17. How much schooling have you had?36

I never went to school. My parents died before I went to school. However, when I joined Thorn, Invidia taught me how to read English. I can read it very very slowly, and not recognize big words, but still get the overall meaning of the words.37

18. Did you enjoy school?38

I hated learning to read and do math... it felt like a waste of time. I had done fine on the streets without these skills; they just weren't necessary for survival.39

19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities?40

With the Thorn. Invidia taught us many things as well as reading and writing. 41

20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them.42

None... but when I met Invidia, she was so strong and filled with dignity, and she didn't let her poverty or other people's image of her defeat her. I wanted to be that strong.43

21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family?44

I loved them, and was a good child. I was, I really was. I was kind.45

22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?46

I wanted to be a dog trainer... I had stuffed animals and played with them. Then, when I became homeless, I lost all ambition.47

23. As a child, what were your favorite activities?48

I liked to draw pictures and to play outside and watch and listen to the birds. I liked finding feathers on the ground and collecting them. 49

24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?50

I was kind, considerate, and caring about other people and especially animals. 51

25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like?52

I had no friends during most of my childhood, for who wants to be friends with a street urchin? A dirty, thieving orphan who has no home and no food? But when I joined Thorn, I had friends, who were the other girls there. They were Lissa, Ace, and Cali, girls just like me, also in Thorn. Lissa is witty and sarcastic, Ace is bright and ambitious, and Cali is shy and dejected-looking all the time.53

26. When and with whom was your first kiss?54

This is so totally a spoiler.*** I was 17, and his name was Tryst. 55

27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity?56

I am a virgin.57

Influences in my past... living alone has taught me to rely on none but myself, and so much sorrow has taught me to resist my tears. I've also learned how horrible life is when you don't have a friend, when you are completely alone.59

Part 3: Past Influences 60

I almost said Invidia... and she has a lot of influence. But in the end it has to be Tryst, that boy, who taught me everything that Invidia never knew. 63

My greatest achievement? Learning to read. It's been a skill that's been so useful to me, and I'm so grateful to Invidia for teaching me.65

32. What is your greatest regret?66

Going back to Thorn after Tryst took me... I should never have gone back there, when I had Tryst, but I didn't know him then. He liked me, and knew how cruel Thorn could be, so he decided to save me from them... but Thorn was my home and I had a family there, so I went back. I never should've. 67

33. What is the most evil thing you have ever done?68

I think that the most evil thing I have ever done was betraying Tryst to Thorn... they were looking for him, and I betrayed him.69

34. Do you have a criminal record of any kind?70

None... I've always been a thief, stealing money, helping the gang rob people on the streets at night... but always nameless, faceless, so much of nothing that even though I stole, they still saw me as a beggar, and ignored me. The police did not think much of me; they had more severe cases to deal with. So I do not have a record written anywhere... I barely have a name.71

35. When was the time you were the most frightened?72

After I betrayed Tryst, and found out how cruel Invidia could be... I was afraid that she was going to harm me, that suddenly the motherly-figure in my life whom I had always looked up to was going to hurt me. I felt like I had lost my family, and suddenly they were all so cold towards me. I was so alone, except for Tryst... and I had betrayed him, and I was afraid for him as well.73

I would change the deaths of my parents and have them live, and be safe forever, oh, what a happy ending I would've had then!76

I guess more on the optimistic side... you can't be pessimistic when you're me, because then you'd commit suicide.81

No. I don't think that Tryst was meant for me, either. We don't understand eachother enough, at all. 90

I am never honest, and never have been. I try to act indifferent about the world, always... I never show my emotions, I've learned that showing emotions is a weakness in the world. 93

I hate money... I just hate it. I scorn anyone who says that they can't live without it. I don't know why, but I just hate money, hate the color gold... it's the color of greed, for me, it's the color of death. Black is more beautiful... black is the color of solitude, a place where you can hide and dream alone.95

Invidia... no, Tryst. I think he is, now, because he cares about me and I know Invidia doesn't really... or perhaps she does. But still I must say Tryst, because, now that I've met him, I don't think I can live without him... I find myself thinking about him more and more each day, and don't know why.103

Here, I must say Invidia. She's gone through a tougher life than ours, but she's so strong, strong enough to take it all and not fall to pieces. And, although she can be cruel, she does care for other people who used to be just like her. She feels for those homeless little girls who have neither food nor bed, and she gives them a home. Like me. She's done a lot of good in the world, and a lot of bad, but I respect her for how she's come through.105

Oh, no, please not this question. It's a rather long story, but I am in love, and have been, since when I don't know. But Tryst... I don't know why he decided to track me and none of the other girls, but I think it was because I was beautiful. He told me that I caught his eye. He tells me that I'm stunningly beautiful. anyway, he decided to save me, no, steal me from Thorn, where I lived. I resisted at first when he kidnapped me, and I ran back to Thorn. However, sometime after he came back and I got to talk to him more, I got to know him, and I do like him. Still, I'll never forgive him for falling in love with me because of my looks. Would he have still done the same things for me if I were ugly? It's the only thing I have against him... but I do think I love him now.109

Tryst... he acts like he would die for me, and and one point I though he would, but he escaped, luckily.116

I try to avoid conflict, because conflict only gets you in trouble. Comply to others, and you'll get what you want.121

No. I'm a follower. If you told me to lead, I wouldn't know what to do... really, I know nothing.123

Does Thorn count as a large group of people? I guess yes, as long as they don't all focus on me. It's very interesting watching them and seeing what type of people everyone is... very interesting...125

Murdered quickly and secretely by some stranger who needs it... I don't want to die in a hospital, and I don't want to die noticed at all. Just silently, a bird dying, and no one cares. I don't want a fuss, really... I'm just leaving, and it will be better soon.162

I would find Tryst, and tell him, and hug him, and kiss him... I would spend the last moments with him, because I really wouldn't want to spend them with anyone else, though maybe Invidia... but Tryst cares about me for real. I don't have anything to finish, so I would go to him.164

I would tell him to keep going, not to give up, because he's almost there. And it's not a conflict anymore. He's won.
