Wish Land

The sky was a light baby blue with huge, soft clouds. The fresh cut grass was going on for miles and miles. No hills, or mountains. Just plains. That was the world of Wish Land, and it was called that for a very important reason. Everybody's wishes get sent there, and the fairy, Crystal, grants everyone their wish on Earth. You can only be granted one wish, though. Crystal lived in a huge, stone castle in the center of Wish Land. There was one very long river in Wish Land called the River of Youth. Once you took one sip of it, your life was changed forever; you would never grow old. That sounds pretty nice! The citizens who lived there were Dwarfs, and they lived in tiny shacks all around. The dwarfs had jobs like cutting the grass, sending messages from and to the fairy and building shops. They were paid in gold coins, and the coins were used to buy things at shops. The dwarfs were the men. Well, the women were fairies, and they could choose one dwarf to be married to until they turn to dust. Yes, it's pretty sad how after a long period of time fairies die, too, like humans. Lastly, beautiful unicorns pink and white roamed around. That's how dwarfs transported, of course. That's pretty much what Wish Land looked like, besides the fact there was no pollution or violence in their world.1

A dwarf named Nelson was in love with a fairy that was going to turn to dust soon. One day, he picked a daisy in the plain field and gave it to her. He went to her magic house and gave it to her. "Um, I'm married to Patrick now, so I can't except this," she said rudely to him. "I never knew you got married," he replied. "I wasn't at your ceremony." "Yeah, because I don't like you," she said, flicking her hand at him. "Now shoo!" So he slowly walked home, sad as ever. When he got home, his friend, Claire who was a fairy, came over. "I'm sorry, Nelson," she said, feeling sorry. "She was rude, anyhow." Nelson poured him and Claire a cup of Mystical Tea. "But she was beautiful," he went on. "I loved her all my life, and I thought we would be happy together. What should I do?" He sighed sadly. Then Claire thought of an idea. "Well, if you really like her, tell her how you feel," she suggested. "Tell her you really care about her, and love her. If all of that's true, go for it. But if she breaks your heart, she wasn't right for you, anyway." "Thanks, Claire," he thanked, rushing out the door. Claire stared in her tea. "Oh, Nelson," she said to herself. "How long will it take you to realize what a great friend I am? I'm turning into dust soon, too, and you don't even notice. I love you."2

Nelson hopped over to Jasmine's (fairy) house. He knocked on the door. Patrick answered. He had a long, brown beard and was handsome. "What do you want?" he asked him grumpily. "Can I talk to Jasmine?" Nelson questioned. Patrick nodded, then yelled her name. "Coming," he heard her say, walking to the door. "Oh, it's you. What do you want?" "I want to tell you something important," Nelson started. "You may hate me, you may not, but I love you." He was going to stop there, but then he remembered what Claire said. "I care about you, and I don't just love you because you're beautiful. I love you because I love you. So much more then Patrick." He took her hand. "Jasmine, I came here for a good reason. I love you, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you." He pulled out his four leaf clover. "Will you be my wife?" Jasmine laughed hysterically. "Okay, okay. I'm married, just like I said before. You really like me that much to still propose to me, in front of my husband and kids?" she teased. Nelson nodded. "Of course." She continued laughing, and Nelson left when he knew she was teasing him. 3

He was so mad he threw his four leaf clover in the River of Youth. When he got home, Claire could tell he was upset. "She turned you down, huh?" she wondered. "YEAH! I LOVED HER SO MUCH, AND SHE TURNED ME DOWN! I WENT TO HER HOUSE WITH HER HUSBAND AND KIDS THERE, AND STILL TOLD HER I LOVED HER! AND SHE STILL TEASED ME!" he screamed at the top of his lungs. "Settle down," she said. Then her face turned blue. Then POP! She turned to dust. Nelson started crying. "How could I?" he said sadly to himself. "She was so much nicer then Jasmine, and I had no idea she was going to die. I'm so disappointed in myself." He picked up her fairy dust and kissed it. "I love you, Claire," he praised it, thinking of her. After all the time, he felt selfish. He was starting to think he only loved Jasmine for her looks, unlike he said. He was so depressed, so he walked to the fairy princess, Crystal's, castle.4

She was granting wishes. "Hi, Crystal," he greeted sadly. "I never granted a wish, and I'd like to grant one now." "Okay, Nelson! What is it?" she asked, kindly. "I wish that....5

he said, started crying. "I wish I could see Claire again." "Okay, your wish is granted," she answered, waving her wand. Then POOF! Claire appeared. "Hi, Claire. Will you marry me?" Claire blushed, then said, "I had thought you'd never ask." Then they kissed, and the story was happily ever after. So in conclusion, Wish Land is a good vacation spot. The end.6

    This was cute.

It would be a little easier to read if you separated who was speaking into different paragraphs.

the next to last paragraph I think for this sentence; "I never granted a wish, and I'd like to grant one now."
you might mean "I never was granted a wish and I'd like to be granted one now." Otherwise it sounds like the fairy is talking but it doesn't seem that way.

thanks for entering, it's a nice story.

lol. This was adorable. I love the first paragraph where you are describing Wish land. I can actually see the tiny thatched-roof dwarf shacks speckling the countryside. The River of Youth winding through the plains like a blue satin ribbon.

The story was a tiny bit predictable, but no less cute and enjoyable. I'm glad you wrote a happy ending...I'm a sucker for happy endings.

Thank you for the lovely vacation spot! And good luck in the contest!!

    Great!

This is great. I love fantasy stories. I think in this sentance '"I wish that....(next paragraph) he said, I think you should capital the H in he said. Maybe you could break up the big long paragraphs to make it easier to read. I want to know where is this place. I mean, in the story or else in this sentance: ' So in conclusion, Wish Land is a good vacation spot.' Or are you just saying this to the judge? I have a friend called Crystal. This story is intresting. You came up with loots of good things. All the best in the contest. Keep up with the great work.
