JaydeD"Fish and bones-16"

Jayde slammed the storm door to her Aunt's house and followed Carsyn to the park. It was a beautiful fall day and the air was fresh and breezy. She didn't quite understand why she had agreed to this but he had made it seem like fun. They walked side by side until stopping at a bench next to the sidewalk. Carsyn reached out to Jayde and took her hand in his, holding it. 1

"What was that for?" Jayde asked, pulling away from him. 2

"I don't know, I'm sorry. I just really like you." His eyes gazed downward; she had hurt him. She saw that he really meant what he said and inside she felt herself melting.3

"It's okay, I'm just not used to guys like you."4

"What are guys like me?"5

"Nothing, nevermind."6

"Okay, well...tell me a little about yourself. What are your favorite things?"7

"Music and writing I guess."8

"Writing? What kind of writing?"9

"What's with the 20 questions game? When I agreed to hang out I thought we would...hang out."10

"I know and we are. But you still seem like such a mystery to me."11

Jayde stared into space, losing herself in her thoughts again. Why did this stranger care so much? Nobody had tried to get to know the real her before. It didn't make sense, but something in the back of her mind kept telling her to stay away.(It's a trap he doesn't really like you that way. What do you think you are, special?)12

"Why are you being so nice, what's the deal?"13

But before Carsyn could answer, a tall shadow appeared behind them and they heard a strong, male voice. 14

"Hey Carsyn, is this Jayde?"15

Carsyn's eyes shifted from side to side as if he were a kid caught doing something he shouldn't have been doing. 16

"Zach what are you doing here?"17

Jayde recognized the light brown beard, short fuzzy matching hair and deep brown eyes. It was the same guy that had scared her at Dunkin Donuts the other day. 18

"You're missing supper Carsyn. They're waiting for you at home and they asked me to go get you. Your fish is getting cold and we're not wasting it."19

Jayde looked at both guys with a puzzled expression on her face. They seemed to always be eating, why was it so important for the fish not to be wasted? She'd never met such strange people before.
