Eda, Part four

The group left the office and headed toward the north wing. They had reached the dragon statue when the heard people coming.1

“In here,” Luthien said and led them around the statue, “Help me.”2

The door opened and they all ran inside. The group stared around the room, and then back at Luthien.3

“What is this place?” Khaos asked.4

“It’s a hidden room.” Luthien replied simply.5

“We can see that, but how did you know about it?” He asked.6

“I found it one day, when we were playing hide and seek. Isil, can you do that spell again? At least until we get out of the castle?” She asked impatiently.7

“Sure.” He replied, and concentrated on the mirror.8

“We need a way to get out of here, a distraction,” He said after a moment.9

“No problem.” Luthien said, as she closed her eyes. A moment later the group heard a loud crash. Isil looked into the mirror and saw that a tapestry at the end of the hall had fallen down. The soldiers that were in front of the statue rushed down there to investigate what had happen.10

“Hold on, it’s not over,” Luthien mumbled as she concentrated harder. The statue had turned into a glorious blue dragon and had soared into the room, “Hurry, on the dragon’s back. It’s the only way out.”11

The group got on the dragon’s back and it took off flying. It flew down the corridor and up the tower. At the very top they encountered Zarah and some soldiers. The dragon slowed until it was hovering in front of them.12

“Going somewhere?” She asked.13

“Get out of our way Zarah,” Luthien said.14

“Why should I? You’re going to get help right?” She asked.15

“Why should we tell you, snake? You betrayed the school, you betrayed me!” Luthien hissed.16

“Do you really think I care if you tell me, or if you are hurt? You’re pathetic, depending on your friends for help, on others. I never did like you Luthien; you were just an easy way to stay under the radar as I did my work.” Zarah laughed maliciously.17

“What do you mean?” Luthien asked.18

“Why do you think I sent you on all of those errands for? To get information that I needed, did you never have any idea as to what you were doing?” 19

Now it was Luthien’s turn to laugh. She looked at Zarah with an amused look.20

“Now what?” Zarah asked, glaring at her.21

“You have no idea do you?” Luthien asked.22

“About what?” 23

“That information was all lies! Your plan has failed you; I knew what you were doing all along. I gave you information that would only make you look like a fool. Even now you have no idea as to what information your “queen” is receiving. I hope you enjoy the hell you’ve put yourself into. Now step aside.” Luthien bluffed. She really didn't have any idea of Zarah's plan; she was just stalling until she could figure out what to do.24

“Never!” Zarah snarled.25

“It’s your choice,” Luthien said as she drew her sword, “Now Taura, and Trisana, together!” 26

As she said these words, Taura, her sword and, Trisana, the dragon, glowed blue and sent a stream of white fire at Zarah and the soldiers, who dashed out of the way. Trisana roared past them and out into the star-light night.27

All is hopeless35

Trisana flew over the land, which turned from forest to farmland. All but Luthien had fallen asleep on the ride to their new destination. The dragon and Luthien were having a conversation together in there minds.36

(Trisana, do you think we are far enough away?) Luthien asked her. Her voice felt like flowers blooming on a warm summer day in Trisana’s mind.37

(I’m not sure, Luthien. The Glaison mountain range is up ahead. I know of a warm cave there where we could spend what’s left of the night.) Trisana replied, her voice felt like warm fire in Luthien’s mind. 38

(Sounds good to me. In the morning we can decide on what to do.
We’re all tired.) Luthien looked around and realized that she was the only one left awake. 39

(Luthien…) 40

(Hmmm?)41

(Why did you choose me to help you? There were plenty more adaptable things in the castle to help you.) 42

(I chose you because you were always there for me. Even if you didn’t know it.) 43

(Thank you.)44

(For what?)45

(For everything, you have made my own dream come true, and soon we will get the castle back. Don’t worry. Now go to sleep, it will be a while before we get to the cave. I’ll wake you all up a few minutes before we get there.)46

(All right. Good night Trisana.)47

(Good night Luthien. May you have pleasant dreams.) 48

Luthien settled in on Trisana’s back and shortly fell asleep. Trisana kept flying south, her mind busy with thoughts of what was to come. Over towns and cities she flew, always flying in one direction, toward a mountain range that was small in the distance.
Soon the mountains loomed in the distance, and Trisana softly called to Luthien49

(Luthien, Luthien) Trisana thought softly.50

(What?)51

(Wake the others, we’re almost there.)52

(Alright)53

Luthien sat up and gently shook Alda awake. Alda sat up and rubbed her eyes.54

“What?” She asked.55

“Wake the others, we’re almost there.” Luthien said.56

“Ok.” She said tiredly and began to wake the others up. By the time everyone was awake Trisana was slowly descending into a small cave. She landed softly and everyone climbed off of her back.57

“Lie down and go to sleep everyone. I’ll guard the entrance.” Trisana murmured.58

“You need sleep too,” Luthien said, stifling a yawn, “I’ll stay up and keep watch.”59

“I’ve gotten all the sleep I need, Luthien. Ever since my spirit was sealed in that statue I’ve gotten nothing but sleep. Do not worry about me.” She said, as she turned to walk to the front of the cave. Luthien watched her and then decided that she was right. She and the others looked for comfortable spots to lie down and sleep. Trisana kept watch and only stirred when she got tired of sitting in one position. As dawn approached she noticed birds flying out of the north. 60

“So it has finally happened. The great Calima Oron has fallen under Lera’s unbreakable grip. If we have any chance of beating her it lies in the slim hope of the seven,” She whispered as she turned and looked at the group, “But most importantly, in Luthien and that sword of hers. I hope she knows of the power that it harbors, waiting to be released into the world.” 61

Trisana turned her gaze back to the outside world. Down below a town slowly stirred with the coming day. Shepherds gathering their sheep for the day, bakers threw open their windows as the day’s bread proceeded to cook. All around Trisana continued to watch the town wake, children running through the streets, mothers hurrying them along to school, dogs and cats running around, and people haggling over prices of goods. She was so focused on the town, that she didn’t hear Luthien walk up to her and watch too.62

“Beautiful, isn’t it?” She asked Trisana.63

“Yes, almost reminds me of home.” Trisana replied sadly.64

“We’ll get it back.”65

“I know, do you think you all will be alright as I go to get breakfast?” Trisana asked.66

“You’re not going to steal a sheep are you?” 67

“No, I’m going into the forest and going to find something there.”
Trisana replied.68

“Yeah, we’ll be fine.” Luthien said.69

“Alright, I’ll be back then.” 70

“Be careful, and try not to get noticed.” 71

“Don’t worry, I’ll be fine,” Trisana said as she took flight. She soared over the town and disappeared into the forest.72

Luthien watched the town some more and then went and picked up her sword. She sat in the opening of the cave and studied it. Finally setting it aside, she went and gathered some wood and got a fire going. After feeding the fire some big pieces of wood she sat down in the mouth of the cave and picked up her sword again. She looked out over the landscape and waited for Trisana to return. Finally after what seemed like hours, but was only forty-five minutes, she saw Trisana approach. She had a deer in her hind claws, and her fore legs were filled with berries and plants. She dropped the deer on the ledge and waited for Luthien to move it out of the way before she landed.73

“I didn’t know what kind of food to get, so I grabbed some berries and roots that are eatable and also a deer.” Trisana said74

“Don’t worry; your efforts won’t go to waste.” Luthien said as she got to work on skinning and dressing the deer. After she was done she found three sticks and proceeded to cook the venison over the fire she had made. The aroma had woken most of the group up by the time it was done and those who weren’t awake woke up when Luthien announced that it was done. For water the group found a small spring a little ways away from the cave. Nauco was the one who spoke the question that was on everyone’s mind.75

“Now what do we do?” He asked.76

“We try to find help,” Luthien replied.77

“Yeah, but how?” He asked, eating some of the berries that Trisana had found.78

“There is a town at the bottom of the mountain. We can seek help there.” Luthien said.79

“We must hurry, if we do, because while you all were sleeping I saw birds flying out of the north,” Trisana said.80

“What does that have to do with anything?” Khaos asked.81

“Whenever Queen Lera conquers something, birds fly out of that area. It is a signal that what ever was there is now gone.” Trisana replied, her sapphire eyes trained on his.82

“Gone? What do you mean by gone?” Vanya asked.83

“Destroyed.” 84

“Destroyed? But the school can’t be destroyed.” Vanya said.85

“It might not necessarily be destroyed.” Luthien said.86

“No, it might not be. See, Lera needed a place to stay while her army recuperates.” Trisana said.87

“So, we still might have a chance.” Isil said.88

“Yes, but a slim one if any,” Luthien said, as she paced the
cave, “We’ve got to move fast. So let’s get going.” 89

“I will take you part way down, but after that you will have to walk.” Trisana said.90

“Why is that?” Tari asked.91

“The people around here have not seen a flying dragon in decades. For them to see one now would only scare them.” Trisana said.92

“Oh,”

This is good, it's your best writing yet, but I feel like I'm missing something. I don't remember hearing of Zarah before, but it sounds like her and Luthien were friends or something? When was Luthien being sent on her "errands", and was she really aware of Zarah's plan at the time? Or did she just say that? It seemed like she was shocked when she overheard Zarah and Lera.
