carousel waltz, played really slowly, backwards....

Entr'acte1

Ladies and Gentlemen,2

Good evening. And welcome, to my circus. We have some acts that will stun and amaze you this evening. 3

The night is already upon us and dawn is fast approaching, 4

so I shall begin.................5

*suddenly with great enthusiasm* 6

For you entertainment, one night only, the great, the mysterious, the wonderful Kevin, to tell his tale of escape, madmen and murder........... enjoy *creepy smile....*7

Act One8

*The lights fade as the creepy clown music slows before coming to a painful end some how similar to that of the scratching at the end of a record. Slowly a red spot light appears where you were not expecting it and you see the shadows of half a face, half a person. As the light grows brighter the head lifts and a deep, enchanting voice fills your head*9

"This is a tale" echoed the voice "a tale based on my own life, my own experiences, a proverb even some may say. We begin one evening, in the theatre none the less, just like you are now. Watching the cheerful faces on the stage, the makeup covering the truth. 10

Why do we go to the theatre? To enjoy ourselves. To feel emotions that we can leave behind once the curtain comes down and the house lights come back up on reality. 11

So what emotions can we feel? Hatred, anger, joy, pain........ and here's a new one. I hadn't felt it before, not under the circumstances of pretence I found myself in,  love. 12

But this love didn't come from the characters portrayed behind the proscenium arch, it came from a source outside of me, or maybe it was inside. I'm not sure even now. But I felt it touch my hand and crawl through my soul (not necessarily in that order)13

*The light shifts and suddenly the half shadow of a person is sitting on the high wire, a blue light surrounding him now*14

Love does things to us we do not expect, It can shift as easily as the wind. Love can lift us up so we are soaring over mountains, through the clouds then the next moment take that same wind from beneath our wings and dash us against the rocks. 15

*During this speech he is slowly making his way across the high wire, occasionally pausing to examine the reaction from his audience, walking further into the light before disappearing once more. A yellow spot light appears on the floor and he walks into focus*16

This love was left to grow, develop. It was nurtured in the wrong conditions and turned bitter. The passion turned to jealousy, the devotion to paranoia, and the love into dependency.17

Cast aside It nursed its wounds, and turned to look for another medium to channel its emotions. My love found yet another perfect host, and I was taken. Unfortunately it was to be yet another situation of unrequited feelings.18

Now cheated, betrayed, disowned and forgotten, my heart started another journey. This time to find a way to love itself. Find perfection closer to home rather than in anybody else. And It succeeded. Happy with comfort in my heart I lived. 19

Ladies and gentlemen there will now be a twenty minute interval, feel free to roam as side acts continue to amaze you20

Act 221

Welcome back, to you and myself. 22

Now Kevin will finish his tale of woe. *The lights come up in the centre of the stage, and eerie spot on half a face*23

"Where did I leave you?" returns the dream like voice. "Ah yes I know. Living with comfort in my heart.24

But this was not to be forever I'm afraid. A secret glance across a room, a touch of hands that part too soon.25

I couldn't live without the love of others, yet in my pursuit to regain everything I had lost, I lost everything I had left.26

Now I live alone, after consulting an old woman who worked her magic to take away my feelings. I have no love, no hate..... And it makes life just that slight bit more boring. I may have no love, but I have nothing to live for.27

Now my friends, learn from my mistakes. Make your decisions wisely. Choose too much love over no love at all. You may feel confused and upset, or happy and elated, but its better than to not feel at all. Goodbye and remember, love each other.28

*The spot light fades as the house lights come up, you look around and see the reflective faces of others. People you don't know, couples clinging to each other and promising their hearts away forever, single people gathering courage to talk to others. The voices mingle into a low hum, before getting louder as everyone forgets all they just heard and leave the auditorium, after all, its just theatre, its all just a show business*29

It was very creepy and I can indeed tell where you started to get bored and rushed up the ending. I liked the begining though where you painted the picture of a carnival and how Kevin was speaking. I did like this but you should work on the ending when inspiration comes a knocking once more. ^.^
