This is a Revolution!

Raise up your fist for this generation's revolution!
Cause, if we want to change it, we're the ones that gotta do it.
Ain't nobody gonna help us. Ain't nobody gonna stop us! 1

Peace after war, just waitin for reason to load them guns with bullets.
We gotta start something, we gotta make a revolution!
Ain't no one else's gonna do it. 2

Raise up your hand, let me hear ya scream!
We gotta change this world again, gotta make it right
Load the guns with bullets, waiting on the fight
Peace don't last forever, power needs a war.
Let me hear ya scream it,
Bring on the revolution, what ya waitin' for?3

Tell ya what I gotta say,
Ain't nothing you don't know
It won't matter to ya anyway.
Won't let it break your show.
Liar, liar, politician,
Pointin' fingers on the stand.
Tell you bout them politicians,
They don't know what it's like,
They don't know what makes a man. 4

Keep me in the cold, still I got the fight,
Fire in my eyes, justice and a light.5

They got money in the pocket, nice designer suit.
Try to tell it to me, that you get my pain,
But let me lick your boot, here it is my shame.
Sell it to my face, you don't get it, what I want.
You don't know it, No, you don't understand it.
You'll never get it straight. 6

Shout it out, raise it up, bring it to 'em now!
This generation's revolution!
It's gotta change, it's gotta go,
Ain't nothing gonna stop it.
We're gonna make it, we're gonna change it.
Ain't nobody gonna help it. 7

Shout it out,
Scream it up, let 'em know your voice.
We're gonna start a revolution, we're gonna have a choice.
We're gonna give it back to 'em.
We're gonna fight this fight!8

I say we do this.
Bring on the Revolution!
Bring on this generation,
Give us this commemoration.
This is our revolution,
This is our solution!
Ain't no one gonna stop it!

Author notes

The grammar is atrocious in this, but that's how I wanted it to be so don't give me some huge list of how horrible it is.

Give it a pounding, pumped up, screaming beat and you got a song! Totally punk rock.

Not only the song popped out at me, but so did the title. If anyone on here has a talent for song writing, it's you. on.

p.s.:You should really try to play this song on a guitar or something, make it come to life....

I dig it. I like the spirit behind it. Reminded me of A Rage Against The Machine song. A much missed voice in our current cultural climate. I did find the rhythm of it a little uneven but I am not a musician at all so take that criticism with a grain of salt. But overall very well done.

I'm no musician either, heh, It started out as a rant, turned into a poem, and fits as a song.
      Thanks for the comment.

    A young revolutionary!

Fantastic! Sometimes, being a socialist, my hope in the emancipation of the working class fades. It's when I come across things like this - people like yourself who realise the system we live under is nothing more than chaotic and unjust, and that change is the only way, that this hope is restored again.
Well done on the lyrics, they were truly a joy to read, and extremely inspirational.
Could be used as a chant for revolutions to come

    Keep writing!

    Yrs.

Thanks! However I'm not much of a lyricist, I write a bit of poetry, but this is like the first 'song' that's ever come from it.
      Gald you liked it!

Hah, you didn't need to say the kind of beat this needed...I totally heard it pounding and screaming. This was really cool, and I loved the semi-cynical, semi-desperate tone I heard in your words.

    Haha!

Haha! I knew it was you!

Seriously, you should listen to U2's War. It's not really punk, but it really applies to this sort of bold and revolutionary lyrics.

I think I know who this is... it has punk power to it and a customized background...

Anyway, this is a strong song against the state world - it has a U2 "War" album kick to it, reminiscent to "Like a Song." That being said, it's powerful, fairly original and one of the best songs I've seen entered into my contest yet.

    Nice job, Six-Feet-Underwater (I think!).
