Anya Dardanos

This is an analysis of my character Anya Dardanos in my novel Under the Influence. I chose these parts because I felt they described her the best and most accurately in their answers. 1

Part 1: The Basics2

1. What is your full name? Anya Angelina Dardanos3

2. Where and when were you born? Born June 6, 19914

3. Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.)5

William and Judy Dardanos. Wealthy stock broker and dentist, both distant, socially involved, and avoid their daughter. They are frightened of her but attempt to pretend that she is a normal person.6

4. Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like? I had a two year old brother, but I let him drown while I was babysitting him. It wasn’t that I hated him or was jealous of him, I simply had no use for him. 7

5. Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people. 8

I live at Shadyside Mental Health Facility in the adolescent ward, along with twelve others my age or close to it. That is, until I killed two of them… now it is only ten others.9

6. What is your occupation?10

I don’t need a job… manipulating others and playing the role of a ‘crazy’ person takes up a good bit of my time. Plus I’m only seventeen and wealthy, do you really think I need to work? 11

I am very attractive in a careless sort of way; I don’t bother to fix myself up clothing-wise or wear makeup, but I don’t have to. I know I’m sexy anyway. I have long dark blonde hair and blue eyes, very angular, defined features, and I am 5’7 and 114 pounds, thin yet with a well developed figure for my weight. I carry myself with the deliberate confidence and sexual assurance of someone much older than myself, but I can also change my posture and the way I appear to others to seem very different.13

9. Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses?16

No. I am strong and healthy, capable of defending myself physically, though I much prefer mental means.17

I am right-handed. The one area of my life where I am of the norm.19

11. What does your voice sound like?20

I have a deep voice for a young female…I would describe it as husky or throaty.21

12. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?22

I give nicknames to everyone that I know will grate on their nerves or feelings.23

13. What do you have in your pockets?24

Nothing. I’m not in the habit of carrying anything beyond my own self- I only need that to rely on.25

14. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics? 26

I often push myself onto others sexually not for my own gratification, but rather to frustrate or discomfort them. I delight in hurting others emotionally and manipulating them to do my will, usually in such a way that they do not even realize how I am playing with them. I nickname others in ways that annoy or hurt them and defy authority. I easily can scope out weaknesses of others and do all I can to exploit them, often openly, occasionally in a more subtle and tricky manner. I am very intelligent and insightful and use this to the very most of my advantage, for I love to watch others self destruct and know that I caused their pain, or that I could have prevented it, and did nothing. I do not actually hurt others physically but I drive them to hurt themselves. 27

Part 4: Beliefs And Opinions29

40. Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic?30

I am extremely cynical…but the thing is that I don’t care enough about life in general to be optimistic or pessimistic about it. I believe in doing what I have to in order to get what I want, and I have great faith in myself that I will always be able to do this and that I will always come out on top. With other people, however, I have no doubts that they will fail and I am condescending of them. 31

41. What is your greatest fear?32

That I am or will be completely ordinary and weak in every way.33

42. What are your religious views?34

I don’t believe in God. I don’t believe in virtues. I am an atheist in every sense of the word, and I believe only in what I can take for myself and do for myself. I am a love atheist as well. 35

43. What are your political views?36

I don’t care about politics. As long as it doesn’t affect me, let them backstab each other all they want. I may watch in amusement but I won’t be bothered by it.37

44. What are your views on sex?38

Sex is a powerful tool to get what you want from people. I use my sexuality to exploit, embarrass, harass, and turn on people, without ever having to actually sacrifice something of my own. I myself do not enjoy sex but rather the power that it gives me. sex itself I find to be boring and overrated.39

45. Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable? 40

Killing is intriguing…I find it to be perfectly acceptable if one can get away with it without being caught. I myself would not be stupid enough to kill someone but there are many ways to talk others into doing so…41

46. In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do?42

I don’t care about evil…I myself might be the closest thing that there is in the world to true evil, and I like myself pretty well.43

47. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love?44

No. I’m a love atheist. Love cannot be proven, it’s all in people’s heads and inner needs. It doesn’t actually exist and is utterly useless and silly.45

48. What do you believe makes a successful life?46

One where you got what you wanted when you wanted with no consequences coming your way.47

49. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)?48

I only show my thoughts and feelings when it will help me in some way, and even then they are exaggerated or edited greatly so that they show what the other person wants to see. 49

50. Do you have any biases or prejudices?50

I don’t’ care enough about anyone to hate them. 51

51. Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it?52

I refuse to do something that I do not want to do. If I do something, it is because it benefits me in some way to do it. 53

52. Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)?54

No one. There is no one on this earth that I care about other than myself. 55

Part 5: Relationships With Others57

53. In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)? Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how?58

I treat everyone according to how I most think it would be amusing to treat them and the way that would most benefit me. I manipulate, lie, playact, taunt, and provoke others for the reactions that I want.59

54. Who is the most important person in your life, and why?60

Me. Because I am the only person I care about. 61

55. Who is the person you respect the most, and why?62

Me. Because, again, I am the only one I believe deserves it.63

56. Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Describe these people.64

I have no true friends, only people who believe themselves to be my friends. Which would amount to one person- Nadia Majella. She is very insecure and easily led, looking for love and affection and approval- all which I provided her. I changed her from a shy, sweet, not very bright person who never hurt anyone but herself into a killer who killed because she believed it the right thing to do…65

I don’t believe in such things, but I did take Nadia as my lover for a time. 67

58. Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened.68

I have never been in love. I don’t believe in love.69

59. What do you look for in a potential lover?70

I don’t want lovers. 71

Not at all. They are afraid of me and I have no use for them.73

I do not want my own family because I don’t need anyone depending on me other than myself, and I need no others. 75

I would never be in desperate need of help because I can always take care of myself under any circumstances. 77

I need no protection, and I trust no one other than myself. 79

No one now. When Nadia was alive, her. 81

I despise no one… I don’t care that much.83

I don’t argue. I provoke them into rages with my words or actions.85

No but I am naturally charismatic.87

Yes… the more to observe and manipulate.89
