Begining Middle and End of Deja Vu (Contest entry)

The light shines through the trees and lands on his face just right his hand is warm in mine and our smiles match. We're walking side by side down the familiar wooded trail. We're just walking and talking. We talk about his past, the future, and everything in between.1

We sat like that for a long few seconds. He gasped a breath and whispered "You're warm." I gave him a sad smile at the memory of the last time he'd said that to me. It had been a happy September day not anything like the nightmare this one was turning out to be. A second went by then we heard the black figures moving through the woods.2

I fell to my knees, then my side. I curled up in a ball my eyes still on the swaying mess I loved. I just kept screaming. No. Over and over. Sobs and screams ripped though me. I felt as if the bullets were hitting me. I writhed and rolled on the ground trying to escape but I was trapped. There was nothing I could do.3

Wow, you've got a lot of action there, and even more unanswered questions...I'm terribly curious! Does the verb tense change apply to your story? What a cool idea that would be for a story named "Deja Vu"! I'm afraid I' mgoing to go have to read this one!
