Ethan... In a LOT of detail.

I am going to write this as though I am Ethan, so expect cynicallnes (no, that's not a real word) and sarcasm (I don't THINK those are the same things, lol). Ok, so, this is Ethan being interviewed, lol. Enjoy.1

Part 1: The Basics2

1. What is your full name? Ethan Metlicus Drane3

2. Where and when were you born? Los Angeles, 19904

3. Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.) Mother: Sandra Drane (formerly Whitinger), 32, works part time at a supermarket, and part time at a day care. She enjoys writing, reading, and piano music, and she has a talent for making lemon drizzle cake. She also likes romance films, and served for a year and a half in the army.5

Father: Daniel Alex Drane. A bank manager, travels abroad a lot. Black haired, tan skinned, and muscular. He likes football and swimming, but also enjoys reading or watching television. He likes young children, but dislikes teenagers, and our relationship is sometimes a little strained, though still strong.6

4. Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like? No, I am an only child.7

5. Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people. I live in LA still, and with my parents, though probably not for much longer. My house is in the rich side of town, and while not huge, it's comfortable and the rooms are large. My bedroom is painted black and most of the furniture in the house is red and gold, my mother's choice. She likes warm, flame colours. We have a porch, a balcony, and a large garden.8

6. What is your occupation? School, when I go.9

7. Write a full physical description of yourself. You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks. I am tall for my age, with tawny hair and icy blue eyes, which I inherited from my mother. I am strong, I know that from fights when I was younger, and I'm well practiced at defending myself. I have a chipped canine tooth, and a scar beside my left eye, where I fell on some glass.10

8. To which social class do you belong? Not particularly high, but I generally have enough money for anything I really want, and my education, manners, and social skills are fair.11

9. Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses? I am slightly allergic to cats, and too much dust makes me sneeze badly.12

10. Are you right- or left-handed? Left-handed, but I can write with my right hand also.13

11. What does your voice sound like? Fairly deep, I suppose, but not robotically so.14

12. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently? Grow up. I use that a lot. Others… not many. I prefer to coin a phrase for a moment, rather than sound rehearsed.15

13. What do you have in your pockets? A hell of a lot of plans to get what I want, as well as string, money, my phone, and my ID card.16

14. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics? There is no such thing as me being annoying. I suppose you might call my unnaturally short temper a strange mannerism, though you could also say I just have a hatred for being used in any way. Aside from that, I am unaware of any ‘quirks’ or suchlike.17

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------18

Part 2: Growing Up19

15. How would you describe your childhood in general? Good, except the three years I spent with my cousin. I get along with both of my parents, and enjoy spending some time with them. They perhaps spoil me, and are a little too lenient at times, but who am I to complain at that?20

16. What is your earliest memory? Sitting on a swing, watching children running home from school, and playing tag.21

17. How much schooling have you had? As much as I can be bothered to put the effort into.22

18. Did you enjoy school? Depends if I was in the mood to learn or not.23

19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities? In general life. I learnt to fight from getting into fights, I learnt to be witty in the classroom, and I learnt to manipulate others through watching and experiencing manipulation.24

20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them. Anyone with power to make others do as they chose. I’m not evil, but the power of that fascinates me.25

21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family? Aside from my parents and my cousin, I have very little knowledge of them.26

22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? Myself.27

23. As a child, what were your favorite activities? Being with friends, I suppose, and in my later childhood years, drinking and smoking and hanging around bars.28

24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display? Selfishness, shrewdness, and a lack of interest in ‘childish’ games.29

25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like? I have had various friends, of various personalities. Whoever is most useful to me at the time I suppose. I’ve had a few true friends, Liam being one of them, but most have drifted out of my life in one way or another. I guess Liam will eventually do the same, but until then, I admit you could call him my friend.30

26. When and with whom was your first kiss? Dave Greyson, behind the gym, for a dare. That was when I first discovered I was gay, though I wouldn’t have admitted it. I kissed him, punched him in the face, and ran off to find the people who had dared me to do it.31

27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity? Perhaps… why are you so interested?32

28. If you are a supernatural being (i.e. mage, werewolf, vampire), tell the story of how you became what you are or first learned of your own abilities. If you are just a normal human, describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today. My life. Period. Simple. All the different things. Influence from friends, from family, from school, and I should think, particularly my cousin, who hated me so much.33

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------34

Part 3: Past Influences 35

29. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far? Going to stay with my cousin.36

30. Who has had the most influence on you? Perhaps my parents…37

31. What do you consider your greatest achievement? I’ve yet to make it.38

32. What is your greatest regret? That my mother allowed me to go and live with my cousin and I was exposed to the ugly side of the world at a young age.39

33. What is the most evil thing you have ever done? There are many. Ripping people’s hearts. It all comes to the same thing really, because I should thing they all feel it as deeply. It’s not hard to hurt a friend, if you want to.40

34. Do you have a criminal record of any kind? Yes, for various things. Drinking, fighting, stealing. It’s nothing major, but it’s there.41

35. When was the time you were the most frightened? I am never frightened, though I remember I used to listen in dread when I knew my cousin was due home.42

36. What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you? I never put myself in a situation that could cause embarrassment.43

37. If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why? Going to my cousin’s, because he despised me, and opened me up to an ugly, hateful world, which changed me a great deal mentally.44

38. What is your best memory? Perhaps my first kiss with Liam.45

39. What is your worst memory? Any from inside my cousin’s house.46

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------47

Part 4: Beliefs And Opinions48

40. Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic? Neither, both are bad when taken to the extremes.49

41. What is your greatest fear? Failure.50

42. What are your religious views? I am an atheist.51

43. What are your political views? I care very little for politics. The world is in a mess, and it is unlikely all these empty promises will make a scrap of difference.52

44. What are your views on sex? Nothing wrong with it.53

45. Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable? If killing is necessary, then yes. I would kill for my life, or the life of someone I cared about, but little else. However, everyone’s choices are different.54

46. In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do?55

47. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love? Not something I think deeply about, since it’s so rare, if it exists, it’s barely worth my time.56

48. What do you believe makes a successful life? Me. Exactly as I am.57

49. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)? I will always hide my feelings unless it is in my advantage not to. If I can manipulate someone else by showing anger, or sadness, then I will gladly use that.58

50. Do you have any biases or prejudices? Not that I can think of, though incessant questioning can occasionally serve to irritate, as this is doing.59

51. Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it? I can think of nothing I wouldn’t do, except forfeit my pride.60

52. Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)? It depends on circumstances, and my feelings at the time.61

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------62

Part 5: Relationships With Others63

53. In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)? Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how? It depends on who they are, and what I might gain by being polite. If nothing, I see no reason to give them my courtesy, unless something might be gained in future.64

54. Who is the most important person in your life, and why? At present, I suppose my boyfriend. My parents are busy, and there is no one else I am particularly close to currently. With him, I can afford to relax a little, because I know he loves me.65

55. Who is the person you respect the most, and why? Myself. I know I am strong, clever, and perhaps a little bigheaded. Who says it’s a bad thing? If someone wants my respect, they have to earn it, and I wish them best of luck, because it’s not easy.66

56. Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Describe these people. I have various friends. In fact, perhaps too many. More are acquaintances however. I think the few people I would describe as friends are:67

Liam, who has dark hair, fairly fine, hanging just into his eyes, pale skin, and a very quiet voice. He is jumpy at best, downright nervous at worst, and lacks confidence to an extent which amazes me. I lose my temper with him at times, but I do care for him, despite everything.68

Kate. She has white-blond hair, honey-brown eyes, and a rosy complexion. She goes to school, and is the envy of many girls, though she prefers to spend her time hanging around with the lads to shopping at the mall or filing her nails.69

Jack. Older than me by five years; I met him when I stayed with my cousin and… I acknowledge that without him I would not be here now. Sadly, current state of affairs denies us contact.70

57. Do you have a spouse or significant other? If so, describe this person. I suppose Liam could be considered a significant other… in a way… in a very vague way… basically, the answer to this question is; no, not really.71

58. Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened. I am in love with Liam, most of the time… There is no ‘what happened?’ because it still exists.72

59. What do you look for in a potential lover? Depends what I want from them. If I want a relationship, I look for traits I like, such as honesty and kindness, if I just want gratification, I don’t really care.73

60. How close are you to your family? To my parents, not as close as I was. To everyone else, as distant as ever.74

61. Have you started your own family? If so, describe them. If not, do you want to? Why or why not? No, I don’t wish for a family of my own. I have no wish for children, especially not at such an early stage in life.75

62. Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help? Myself. I prefer not to trust others. If I had to go to someone, it would be Liam.76

63. Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why? Liam, because I know he will always try his hardest, no matter what the situation.77

64. If you died or went missing, who would miss you? I suppose my friends might… my parents…78

65. Who is the person you despise the most, and why? Toby, for being arrogant, hurting us, and thinking he owns the world.79

66. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict? If there’s an argument, I am generally the sparks that start it, the coal that burns it, and the wind that fans it into spreading.80

67. Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations? Yes, because I make a superb leader and people do as I tell them.81

68. Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not? Not particularly. People are harder (though not impossible) to control as a group. They are better approached singly.82

69. Do you care what others think of you? Not particularly. I am who I am. Live with it.83

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------84

Part 6: Likes And Dislikes85

70. What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes? Smoking, drinking, and hanging around.86

71. What is your most treasured possession? My ring, which I bought when I travelled to Italy at twelve. My first trip alone. It symbolises, for me at least, independence, freedom, and solitude.87

72. What is your favorite color? Black. I know it is not technically a colour, but why should I care? Black.88

73. What is your favorite food? It barely matters. Food is food. I like chips…89

74. What, if anything, do you like to read? Horror, and Adventure.90

75. What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, movies, art, etc.)? movies… I suppose. I prefer entertainment I can interact with though.91

76. Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs? If so, why? Do you want to quit? Yes, all. Because I enjoy them. No, I see no reason to.92

77. How do you spend a typical Saturday night? There is no such thing. My mood determines it. Most likely, I would be with Liam. Not necessarily. I have many haunts and places, clubs and bars, with a lot of associates.93

78. What makes you laugh? Things that amuse me…94

79. What, if anything, shocks or offends you? Nothing really.95

80. What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself? Go find somebody to irritate.96

81. How do you deal with stress? Load it onto other people.97

82. Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan? I can work any situation as I please, and just because I always have a plan, doesn’t mean I always need one.98

83. What are your pet peeves? Frogs, because they are so slimy, and teachers, because they think they know everything.99

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------100

Part 7: Self Images And Etc.101

84. Describe the routine of a normal day for you. How do you feel when this routine is disrupted? I never ever have a routine. It seems the most utterly unimaginably dull thing one could do with life. I act purely on impulse, mood, and what I want.102

85. What is your greatest strength as a person? My knowledge of how the human mind works, because it allows me to change many situations to my advantage.103

86. What is your greatest weakness? My feelings, I suppose…104

87. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? My scar… it brings bad memories. I don’t need it there; I have many other scars that make me look tough.105

88. Are you generally introverted or extroverted? Depends on my mood and the situation. I can be either.106

89. Are you generally organized or messy? Organised is better for certain things, but I am not a neat-freak.107

90. Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at.108

- I can lie very well.109

- I have the ability to think a situation through fast.110

- I am a good enough fighter to take care of myself in most situations, and generally don’t get into ones I can’t get out of.111

- I sometimes fail to pick up on an emotion of another if I’m too busy hiding my own feelings.112

- My hands shake if I am nervous.113

- Sometimes I don’t think before I speak.114

91. Do you like yourself? Naturally. If not, I would have little purpose for survival, for I certainly don’t live to please others.115

92. What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that characters do)? Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public? (If so, detail both sets of reasons...) My reason is simple: I get bored easily. There might be something to gain by adventure. If not… at least it’s a laugh… well, not always, in fact it’s often the opposite, but something may come of it, eventually.116

93. What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime? Surviving.117

94. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Wherever the road and my impulse takes me.118

95. If you could choose, how would you want to die? In the most dramatic, fantastic way possible, like being thrown from an aeroplane or blown up, or run through with a sword. I would also like some fantastic dying words about how sorry I am for all the things I’ve done and how great the people are who are still living…. In other words: I. Do. Not. Care. It’s not as though it’s something I’ll look back on proudly later…119

96. If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left. Eat. Sleep. Find a cure. Simple. Then I can do anything else I feel like.120

97. What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death? Being me.121

98. What three words best describe your personality? Selfish. Strong. Interesting.122

99. What three words would others probably use to describe you? Selfish. Strong. Powerful.123

100. If you could, what advice would you, the protagonist give to your antagonist? (You might even want to speak as if he or she were sitting right here in front of you, and use proper tone so he or she might heed your advice...) “Get stuffed”. I can come up with lots of other things to advise them to do, but I believe you get the picture. *gets up and finally leaves the dumb questioning for a smoke*124

Author notes

Haha, this was great. Thanks so much to Temaria for making me consider him in so much depth. I really enjoyed getting to know him even better. .

    Part 1: The Basics

I loved the information about the character parents.
The seem like totally opposite people.
Artistic, different. It makes me immediately ask which traits the character got from her parents.

Only child? How does that affect your character? How did it affect your character. In a good way? Bad way? That is something I would like to know and hope is provided somewhere in the story.

The style of housing and colors already tells me a lot about your character, and the fact that you mention the mother's choices it also raises a lot of questions about the relationship and the quality of the character and the characters mothers possessions.

    Interesting allergy. Dust mites.
So it would (I assume) mean that they would need a clean house all the time.
Which would lead to cleaners, maids ect. Depending on the characters wealth. As you said they have enough money for what they want. What about the parents?
Another thing to ask yourself. Could a potential maid or cleaner be introduced into your story and how do they react to these allergies in the story?

It seems from the last question your character does not take shit from anyone.
Would that be a fair assumption?

    Part 2: Growing Up

Three years with their cousin. They do not sound to impressed with that?
Is that mentioned in the story (should read it) Is it expressed or hinted about the characters time? What is so bad about their time and more to the point the characters cousin?

The Manipulation comment was interesting. I immediately linked it with the fighting and the taking no shit attitude your character portrays. So where did they learn their manipulating characteristics? The fact that they seem consumed with the interest of power makes me ask a few things and wonder if my assumptions are correct.

As a character so far they seem to know who they are. Are strong willed, minded and physically strong. Headstrong I guess and I admired “what did you want to be when you grew up? MYSELF...that was a pretty spiffy and bold statement.

A little further down you mention his traits to childish games. Your character admits that he is not your average minded child/teen.

He seems like he grew up very fast and slightly alone in some ways. As a teenager I am hoping when you say as a child he was into drinking and smoking. I also ponder how those affecting addictions made him as a person.
O.o And here I was assuming he was bisexual. Gay well that is very spiffy you automatically win !! Jokes But I admire a good gay story. because I can relate to the emotions and feelings some. O.o and virginity : Me need to know. Is it in the story?

Again: Twice the mention of the cousin. I must read it.
    It is entertaining.

    Thanks for the entry.
I have read the rest, but thought I might comment on the first 30.
because you deserve a good comment for your hard work.
(I would comment on all 100 I am beginning to have a busy schedule and have not enough time) I hope you understand
    my fingers hurt

    Good luck

Wow, that must be the longest comment ever . Thank you so so so much . And actually... you have inspired me to write a prequel to the current story, which would certainly fascinate me, though perhaps it would give the readers too much of Ethan's point of view. Definitely something I would like to consider though and thanks so much for your comment. I think perhaps I should extend on the cousin, another idea you gave me . Thanks so many times

ETHAN RULES!!! Hehe... I thought his parents were dead. You surprised me, lol. The part that made me laugh the most was when he says "gets up and finally leaves the dumb questioning" xD

Hehe, actually, there are a few mentions of him in the story. He says they won't be home that night (when he and Liam are going there) and Liam's dad also says he's called them. Lol, thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed it . Hehe, anything else surprise you? XD!

Well... most of the stuff was hilarious! But I didn't read the whole whole thing, i read about... 70% of it. And as far as I read, there was nothing much that surprised me except for the parents part.

P.S. I didn't know you mentioned it in the other chapters!!

Hehe, don't blame you for not reading the whole thing, it was LONG. Haha, took me forever to write, but I enjoyed it. Yeah, they come up a tiny bit in the story, but I doubt they'll ever be major... Lol. Anyway, thanksies

Thanks again . I'm glad I did the whole thing, despite it taking a long time (I messed part of it up) because it gave me much more information about him. I had to check a few facts with the proper story, but seems most of it was right. Thanks very much
