For a long period in my life, I hadn’t believed in love; love to me was nonexistent, a ridiculous fantasy created to put children to sleep at night. It wasn’t real, and believing in it was silly.

Yes, I believed all of this; but no one can honestly understand something until they experience it, can they? And now, I am one of the luckier few fortunate enough to experience just that.

There is something about love that seems to press determinedly against every set boundary, break every limit like an unrestrained animal, rupturing any set principals. No matter how carefree a love is, there is always a sort of desperation biting at the edges, because, truthfully, no one really knows what will happen in the next week, the next day, the next hour; no one really knows.

But, there is something strange about how love simply unfolds, and fights every extremity, like an inexhaustible flame, stretching into a fire that burns with the passion, the power, as if love were a caged animal, finally released, its blind rage finally unleashed. Love is something chained, contained inside, imprisoned until someone holding the irreplaceable, specially crafted key that fits perfectly inside the unique lock reaches out.

Yes, love truly is unshackled.

    I might not have liked the word unshackled much...but your explanation in your author notes simply BLEW ME AWAY. I'm glad you're one of those luckier people, hope I am too.
