A Demons Life

"Kyoni hurry and get up and ready for Training!" A voice called from below Kyoni's window.1

Kyoni got up and walked to the window. "I'll get up when I'm freaken ready, Rukai!" With that, he slammed the window shut and went to his closet to get changed.2

"Bout time!" Rukai said as Kyoni stepped out of the building. Rukai passed a piece of Bamboo over to Kyoni and watched as Kyoni span it around like a ninja would. 3

"Well then lets go" Kyoni replied. Kyoni and Rukai walked into the forest.4

A massive clearing was in front of the two brothers, calling to be used for all sorts of things.5

"Hey Big Brother watch this!" Rukai called. He jumped up on a tree stump and threw his Bamboo in the air. Rukai jumped as the Bamboo was falling, did a spin in the air and caught his Bamboo, before falling gracefully to the ground. "So how was it, betcha it was better then anything you've practiced." 6

"It was...amateur" Kyoni replied calmly. Kyoni put his Bamboo in his mouth and jumped. He let go of the Bamboo and did a flip around it, landing on one foot, he caught the Bamboo on the other. Not making a single puff of exhaustion he grabbed the Bamboo and turn to Rukai. "Besides we're here to train not make fools of ourselves."7

(Kyoni is so serious when its training time, normally hes an uncivilized grump) Rukai thought staring amazed at his Brother.8

"I see you guys are your usual competitive selves! Well that's a good thing...*cough cough*Then I won't have to work hard-You guys will get a lot of training in!" Called a voice in the forest. A man stepped out in the clearing, acting strong.9

"Higaro-Sensei! Good to see you!" The two Brothers said together. Kyoni bowed down on the ground, seeing this Rukai copied.10

Higaro waved his hand in front of his face. "No, no you boys don't need to bow for me, stand up casually."11

With that the boys stood up and did a casual bow. Higaro walked up to them and patted them on their heads. "I see you haven't changed a bit in the year I've been away. So with that lets start some training! Actually I had something else in mind...You boys get to go Demon hunting for the first time! To test your skills of course."12

The brothers looked up at him, eyes glittering with determination. "We will try our best Sensei!" The brothers turned to go hunt when Higaro stopped them, by grabbing their T-shirts. 13

"Hold on, you need rules and supplies first!" Higaro reached into the bag he was carrying on his back. He pulled out a scroll and some tools. Higaro started to read the scroll. "Alright! The goal is to bring one Demon to me by the end of the day dead or alive, or you don't get dinner! The rules are 1# No stealing eachothers prey 2# Don't enter each others territory-" Higaro pointed to spots on a map. "- 3# Don't die and finally 4# Have fun! You will need-" Higaro started to pass them numerous tools while reading them out from the scroll. "Now I am done feel free to start" 14

The two Brothers didn't give it another thought, they both rushed into the forest without looking back.15

(Today I will not lose to you Kyoni!) Rukai said leaping onto a large rock.16

(Rukai! I'm not gonna lose to an annoying amateur like him!) Kyoni thought climbing a tree with his feet and Bamboo. Kyoni listened to the calm voice of the forest, trees swaying in the wind, birds chirping and the bugs working. A loud snap came from in the bushes and Kyoni leaped up startled. (A demon!) Kyoni got out a piece of small Bamboo and shot a dart through it. It was right on target! Kyoni leaped down from his branch in the tree and searched the bushes. He found a Rabbit, a Yellow coloured Rabbit. Kyoni picked it up and put it in his bag. (Guess not...at least I can eat this later.) 17

Kyoni decided to walk around a little more before he rested, you never know when a Demon might appear. Kyoni found a beautiful river with a little drinking hole coming out from the side. He walked over and took a drink from the small section of river, the pure water streaming down his throat, healing his thirst. He lifted his head and saw a flash in the forest, but not a car light flash or a beautiful reflection, it was a flash of hair. Kyoni knew instantly it wasn't Rukai's hair because Rukai's hair was pure black, this, thing's hair was Golden-Brown and flew beautifully as it went by. Besides Rukai has short hair, not hair that went just past his elbows. Kyoni stood up and went into the forest again, following the Golden-Brown hair. Is this a Demon? And can I take it down? Were all of the thoughts flowing through Kyoni's head in those moments of chase.18

After a while of running Kyoni realized the Demon was a girl. Kyoni had never seen a Demon with a gender, he was surprised. 19

In a flash of smoke the Demon girl changed...into a cat!?It ran over to a small rock and squeezed under, quick as a rabbit.20

Kyoni walked over slowly and peered under the rock. He got a claw to the nose and it started to bleed. "Damn you Demon!" Kyoni yelled at it and wiped the blood off his nose using his shirts front. 21

The small Demon cowered back as he yelled and gave a small mew.22

Kyoni picked up the rock and placed it down nearby. He bent down and picked up the cowering Demon...It bit him. Kyoni dropped it and put his bag on the ground. He reached in, pulled out some bandages and wrapped up his hand where it bit him. (Guess I shouldn't touch the thing then.)23

Kyoni looked up into the sky and realised he had no time to get another Demon and get back. The sky glowed amber and the sun was already dipping over the horizon. Kyoni's hair changed from its Red-Brown colour to a Blonde colour in the light. He wanted to learn more about this shy also bad tempered, cat Demon, so he couldn't take it with him, no matter how much Rukai rubbed it in. Kyoni turned and ran back through the forest towards the training ground.24

Laying in their beds the silence was broken.26

"Ha! Big Brother can't even catch a small Demon!" That was the sound of Rukai rubbing it in Kyoni's face. 27

"DON'T tick me off Rukai! I already missed Dinner today and I'm not happy!" Kyoni yelled back.28

"Why didn't you come back with anything anyway? I at least came back with a Rabbit Demon"29

Kyoni just then had a thought. He didn't even get the rabbit in his bag when he dropped it! That's the only reason he lost, that and he didn't know it was a Rabbit Demon. Kyoni tried to stay calm and quiet as there was no point arguing now.30

"Well, why?" Rukai forced up the question again. Kyoni just turned and faced the closet because Rukai was talking to him through the wall of their Japanese style House. Kyoni and Rukai lived together in a small two-story House, to pay for living easier.31

Kyoni closed his eyes even though he could not sleep, thinking about that certain Demon was all he could do. How it was a girl then a small, tortise shell cat, with one white ear. The soothing pain of its interesting bite. But most of all its cold, dark yet sad eyes, that twinkled in the setting sun. Eventually the mysteries of sleep engulfed Kyoni as his final thoughts trailed off into blackness.
