I've heard it said time and again1
That eyes are mirrors to the soul2
But so many are written in languages 3
That were never spoken at all4
Some show excitement, love, or fear5
When someone or other happens to draw near6
Is it possible to see past the masks7
That some individuals choose to wear?8
Blue, brown, gray, or green9
All shades are beautiful and beg to be seen10
It's the person that lives within their depths11
That will tell who is truthful, a liar, kind, or mean12
Those with life have sparks in their eyes13
Those who are sad have no shine inside14
I only wish the mirrors in everyone's souls15
Were bright, clean, clear, beautiful, and whole16
