Just Another Ordinary Night

I looked up at the pale yellow sun. Just enough time for a fly. I jumped, and took off like a bullet.1

A gust of wind puffed up my velvet purple cape I was wearing on my back. I swiftly took it off, and let it be taken away with the wind.2

"Oh well," I said to myself. "It just got in the way anyway."3

The buildings below me now looked like tiny Lego blocks piled up in a messy pile. I smirked, and continued my flying. 4

After about ten minutes, I stopped in mid-flight. Something large was moving directly beneath me...something enormous, something orange...Something that was terrorizing the citizens of the city below.5

I dipped down in the air smoothly, like a jagged knife cutting through melting butter. It was a dragon. I sighed. Ever since the Bomb, everything had turned haywire - dragons, dinosaurs, fairies, witches...me having super powers...That's just the beginning of odd things that had appeared after it had exploded.6

I allowed the cold wind to gently caress my face. Then I summoned up my courage like I did every battle, and took in the energy. Then I flew down to his ear. I whispered a few chosen words underneath my breath, and my casual-every day outfit turned to my special super-hero costume - good for dodging, protecting, and fighting.7

The dragon, by now, had seen me next to his large, pointed ear. He swatted at me like a mosquito. I dodged it easily. The dragon roared with rage. His blood-shot eyes peered at me with a ferocity I had never seen in my opponents.8

I produced an energy ball, and shot it at his chest. He stumbled back, taken by surprise. His tail walloped into a tall building, smashing it into a trillion pieces. Poor people who were in there. 9

The people on the streets below watched with interest, not caring that they were being sprayed with shards of glass and plaster.10

"Dumb butts," I whispered. "Just run already!" They seemed to read my mind, and scampered off the next second.11

Unfortunately, the dragon had recovered from the energy ball I had thrust at him, and he came back, angrier than before.12

He screeched at me, and I could hear my eardrums pop with protest. I winced, but boldly dove for his tail, the dragon's amazingly weakest point.13

The dragon sensed what I was doing, and swatted at me. He connected with my tiny body this time, and I was thrown to the ground, badly winded. I could hear a muted gasp from the people of the city who were watching the battle through large windows on the top floors of buildings nearby.14

I regained my composure quickly, and flew up to his nose. Bad move. He sucked in his breath, and the next second I was being covered with blisters and burns from the intense fire that was billowing out of his nostrils.15

I resisted a scream of pain - cries of weakness and vulnerability only encouraged dragons even more. I blew on a rather large blister on my hand. The dragon was about to spray me with fire yet again, but I leaped out of the way just in time.16

The dragon stomped his feet, as if he was in a tantrum. He flapped his wings that were as black as night itself, and flew off into the sky swiftly. I watched curiously. What had made him do that?17

I didn't get to think though, because a roar of gratitude towards me met my ears. The people swarmed out of buildings happily, running to see the hero who had saved them from the terrible beast. But I was already taking off toward home.18

Night was hinting in the sky already, and I flew faster, my blisters cooling off in the cold air. I allowed my muscles and brain to relax, and I cheerfully was about to see if I was near my own hometown when I was nearly blown out of the sky by a furious roar of rage.19

I looked below my feet. A city below me had just been graced by a new guest - a foul-smelling Cyclops, who was destroying everything in sight. I sighed.20

"I hope I'm not going to regret this," I said into the night air. Then I flew down to the Cyclops, ready to fight for the second time that day.
