Heart's Glory

I used to wander the world through the seasons
As I used to ask God why you were the One for so many reasons
I found and lost love in an instance and I’d go looking since
Yet the world was such a maze, so up at night into the stars I’d gaze1

I would see kaleidoscopes fall on the One
They would only shine for me, not just anyone
So I would write a song and sing it to the sun
Wander the world until the day was done2

One day the world fell apart on me
The next, you set me free
And I knew that the dreams I made
Would disappear unless you stayed3

Chorus:
I used to want to say things to you I never could say
Now those years seem so far away
I used to fight my battles and never yield
Now I wait for that which I have prayed and kneeled
For more reasons than I ever could explain
The world leaves no time for shame
Heart’s glory was found where the gold had sprung
But that was when the world was young4

It was your innocent eyes and soul within
That let this love of mine get in
My breath gone, heart beating like a drum
You’re the one that made me into the person I’ve become5

It’s the days without you that I hate
Fade like the dawn as I wait
Too much time to contemplate
How you’ve turned the world on me, you precious thing
Our love would be such a lovely thing
Tied forever with a gem and ring6

I can hardly hold on when you're gone
Don't you know what you've done
Behind the stars, behind the sun
The celestial chorus has just begun
Singing7

Chorus:
I still want to say things to you I need to say
Now I know the time is today
I used to fight my battles with a sword and shield
Now a pen is the weapon I wield
For more reasons than I ever could explain
I knew you were the One the second I heard your name
Heart’s glory is found where our love had sprung
And that was when the world was young8

*Guitar solo*9

Bridge:
I used to dream until the daylight would come
But today I’m going to run with the morning sun
I used to wonder where in the world to go
Now I’m going to stay, watch you shine and glow
Watch you dream as you’re fast asleep
When I fell in love with you, I fell so deep10

Chorus:
I still want to say things to you I need to say
Now I know the time is today
I used to fight my battles with a sword and shield
Now a pen is the weapon I wield
For more reasons than I ever could explain
I knew you were the One the second I heard your name
Heart’s glory is found where our love had sprung
And that’s where the world stays young 11

And the heart goes singing
Laladada, laladada, laladada

Hey, pretty! It puts me in mind of a Beatles' song, for some odd reason, and they were before my time. It's a beautiful poem. It took a while to get used to the rhyme but lack of meter, but then it flowed nicely in my mind, and your repeating of certain lines and ideas just rocked. I so love this poem. You got a tune for it? Because I think it'd make a beautiful song...

I am glad you liked it. The reason there are repeats is because is a song, hence the chorus. It was inspired by Coldplay's Viva la Vida.

I am still working on a tune for it, but for now I imagine the tune for Viva la Vida pretty much.
