Chp. 26: Crime? 1

~ One Month Later ~2

The sun shined through the window near my door. I opened my eyes. It’s probably a good thing too. As soon I my feet touched the floor BOOM! I’ve never been so scared in my life. Then I started hearing Kisame yell. “ DEIDARA YOU IDIOT!!! DON’T YOU KNOW THAT RAI IS STILL SLEEPING??!! AS A MATTER OF FACT, SO WAS I!! ”3

I couldn’t help but giggle. “ Well, it’s not my fault. If there’s to much water in the CLAY, IT BLOWS UP!!! “ Deidara yelled. “ What’s all the yelling about? “ I heard Tobi say calmly. “ THAT IDIOT MADE ME - “ Deidara and Kisame both started yelling at the same time. 4

They glanced at each other, then it turned into a full fledged glare. I opened the door and walked out, softly closing it behind me. “ Hey, what’s all the commotion about out here? “ I asked covering my mouth as I yawned. “ You really wanna know? “ Kisame asked. I nodded. “ Well it all started when I was in my bed and the all of the sudden, out of the blue, no pun intended, I hear a huge BOOM! “ Kisame started to explain. Deidara was already nodding his head in disagreement. “ You see Rai, it all started when I was walking back to my room when I felt my clay was mushy “ he explained.5

“ I took it out and quietly tried to remove most of the excess water ... but then ... it kinda ... blew up, yeah “ he said softly. “ KINDA?!! “ Kisame yelled. “ IF EVERYONE WERE HERE, YOU WOULD OF WOKEN UP THE ENTIRE AKATSUKI!!! “ he screamed. As they went back and forth, I started giggling. Well all us girls know what it’s like to start giggling and burst out in laughter. “ You were the one who- “ Deidara and Kisame glanced over at me. I was on the ground, on my back, laughing my head off. “ You think this is funny, un? IT’S NOT!!! “ Deidara shouted. 6

I tried to calm myself down and wipe away the tears from my eyes. I took a deep breath and let it out. “ I know, Deidara. I’m sorry and you’re right it’s not funny ... it’s HILARIOUS!! “ I burst out laughing again. “ I’ve never met a girl who laughed so hard she started crying “ Kisame whispered in Deidara’s ear. “ What are you talking about, Kisame?! You haven’t even met any girls, yeah! “ he retorted. At this point I was laughing so hard, no sound was even coming out of my mouth. 7

“ I think she’s dying, yeah? “ Deidara said to Kisame. I regained my breath and sat up. “ Whew! That was a close one. I’m sorry, it’s just ... you guys are so funny when you fight! Not that there’s anything funny about you two fighting ... but ... you know what I mean “ I explained. Before either Kisame or Deidara could say anything in response, I noticed that everyone was back from their missions. Pein was in front, with the same girl by his side and everyone else with their partners were behind them. 8

“ They’re back , un “ Deidara said to Kisame. As Pein got closer to us, his expression changed from clam and cool to ... confused and disturbed. “ What ... is she doing on the ground? “ he asked. I looked at myself, realizing that I had dirt all over my body and probably my face. I could tell what he was thinking. “ Well, you see leader we had a little argument “ Kisame said. Pein’s eyebrow lifted and looked down at me. “ Oh, but not with her, just Kisame and I, un “ Deidara explained. “ Rai was still in her room when it all happened “ Tobi added.9

“ Then why, geniuses, is she on the ground ... and dirty? “ Pein asked. Neither Deidara or Kisame said anything. “ Well you see Pe- ... I mean Leader, when I came out of my room they were still fighting. It was so amusing that I kinda fell on the ground laughing “ I explained softly. Pein looked at Deidara and Kisame then Tobi and then down at me. “ I suppose that makes sense. These three are quite a riot “ he said, then walked past us. Everyone else took the opportunity to go to their rooms, all except Itachi.10

He just stood there, staring at the four of us. After a minute or two he also went to his room. I looked up at Deidara. “ What was that about? “ I asked.11

“ I suppos he probably thinks we were lying. With you on the ground, dirty and all, un “ Deidara answered. “ Should I go talk to him? “ I suggested. “ I don’t think it would hurt anything “ Deidara said. “ Okay “ I said getting up. What I didn’t notice was that Deidara had a smirk on his face when I had turned my back. “ You really like her don’t you? “ Kisame asked. “ Now what would give you that idea, yeah? “ he said. The smirk disappeared from his face. I knocked on Itachi’s door. I didn’t hear him say I could come in. But he did open my door that one time, without asking. 12

I turned the knob and pulled the door open. It turns out that he was about to open the door. He stared at me with those cold eyes like he always does. I hope I didn’t make him mad. He seems like the person you want to put chain mail on when they get mad. My hands started shaking. ‘ Maybe this wasn’t as easy as I thought ’ I frantically tried to think of an excuse. “ You look busy, I’ll come back later! “ I said. I tried to turn away as fast I could, but his voice stopped me. “ Do I frighten you? “ he said softly. I hadn’t gotten far. I just turned around and took about two steps before he spoke.13

I turned around and tried to smile the best I could without making it look fake. “ No, of course not! “ I lied. Itachi stepped out of his room and took my hand. “ Your hands ... your chakra is coming off you in vibes “ he said quietly. “ Oh ... well ... I don’t mean to vive at you ... if you meant in a negative way “ I said. “ Is there something you wanted to talk about? “ he asked. “ Oh, well - “ Come in “ he said, cutting me off. I wasn’t about to refuse him, I had no idea what kind of power he had. “ Okay “ I said softly as I walked through the door frame. 14

I shut the door frame behind me. Itachi sat on the end of his bed. I didn’t know what to do or where to sit, so I just stood in front of him. “ I just wanted to say that earlier when you came back with Pein ... well it wasn’t what it looked like “ I tried to explain. “ I know “ he said quietly. “ What? “ I said, “ then why did you stand there like that? “ I questioned. He didn’t answer. After a moment he spoke. “ I was trying to figure something out about someone “ he replied. “ Someone? “ I repeated. Itachi didn’t answer, he just looked down at the floor. Suddenly he looked up at the door. 15

“ You have to go “ he said. He walked over to the door and opened it, then took my hand and gently pushed me out. After I was out, he closed the door hastily. “ Jeez, what was that about? “ I asked myself out loud. I soon realized why. I saw Pein coming out of the main house and he was walking toward me. “ Crap! “ I said quietly and tried to hide behind Itachi’s room. Pein was walking quite slow, so I had enough time to get behind the house. Although he probably all ready knew I had been there, he was the leader of course. 16

Pein walked up to Itachi’s door and opened it without knocking or any other polite ways of letting him know someone was at the door. He must be one tough dude. As I walked back to my room, I wondered why I hadn’t tried to get out of this place, why I haven’t tried to escape yet. I’ve been here for over a month. It’s as if I hadn’t minded that I got kidnaped by my boyfriend’s brother, Itachi and then brought here to the crime organization called the Akatsuki. Is that bad? I hope not, because I’d be guilty.
