I guess that's one area where you and I are very different.
It's only your voice, after all, one can still type, use body language, learn sign language. It's not like one's dying. So I see no reason to make a huge fuss over it and make it all serious.

Funny
This is typical of English 'stiff upper lip' humour. Another example of which is the comment made by a red berret (paratrooper) as he plummited past his c.o. with a failed parachute, he said: "And I bet when I get down the folding bike won't work either".
