Land Of Lost CDs: Chapter 5

The scenery was never changing, the nights long and cold.  The guys were starting to get hungry as supplies ran thin and they were all feeling less than perfect enduring all the harsh weather. Hopefully their journey would come to an end. And on the eighth day of their traveling, the sun decided to shine on them. 1

“Yes!” Kurt shouted. They had, at last, made it out of Under ze Bedd. Despite their exhaustion, they all ran for the light. A new energy had filled them. Stakidge wasn't far, and since fatigue had settled pretty thickly on the group, they decided to make camp. That, however, barely got done. They were too busy simply goofing around, a muchly needed change from the gloominess they had lived in the last week.2

“Let's just take the day off," Davey said. The others agreed, wholeheartedly. They sat in a field, munching on some sandwiches Kurt and Chris N. had thrown together with what supplies they had to spare from their backpack. The breeze was cool, but not bitterly so. It was laced with a summery sort of feel to it. With the sun setting, stars rising, it created a lovely atmosphere.3

"There's something about this place that's so...so..." Dave couldn't put his finger on it, chewing absently.4

"Magical?" Mr. Carraba inquired, scooting closer than Dave would have wanted. He simply gave Chris C. a sidelong glance and inched away. With a heavy sigh, the emo boy got up. Perhaps the other Chris would like a cuddle-buddy...5

Kurt sat by himself, away from the group, sketching, his food left untouched. He hadn't felt this creative in a while.  Such a good thing, this rush of inspiration.  Someone sat beside him. They were quiet for a time, until Nirvana's frontman looked up. Davey. Kurt was taken aback a bit at how beautiful he looked in the twilight. It was poetic. There was something in his face that simply...moved Kurt. He hadn't seen anything like it. It was a rare, dazzling thing.6

"Davey..."7

"Yes?"8

"Have you ever..." Kurt found himself leaning in. His friend was not showing any signs of resistance. "...kissed a...a..." The sentence would not be finished. In an unexpected second, the tension was released as their lips came crashing together. It was a euphoric mess of tongue, and skin, and hands. Neither remembered much. But, it was, nonetheless, totally memorable.9

“Yum, Yum,” said Chris C. eating up his sausage and potatoes with enthusiasm. The others eyed him cautiously. They decided to ignore him. 10

The night came all too quickly. There was something odd here.11

Dave looked up from the lyrics he was scribbling down. Someone  was calling his name. He became aware that it was Chris N., looking somewhat distressed.12

“Dave, I think we need to go.” Dave went back to writing. 13

“Really?” He asked. “Are you that concerned?”14

“Yes!” replied the bassist, aggravated that no one had listened to him thus far.15

“Me too. Maybe we should be off. Wake the rest and tell them to pack.” Chris N. did as he was told and in 15 minutes the group was ready to go. They walked rather briskly. 16

Night seemed to enclose them and surround every part of them. Abruptly they came upon a presence. It loomed before them like a shadow, yet gaping wide as a cavern. For, indeed, that's what it was. It was also a dead end. Kurt tried his best to see through the dense curtain of darkness that encased them. However, this was a vain act. There was only one way to go.17

“I-I-I don’t wanna go in there!” Chris C. backed away from the woods, smack into Kurt.18

“We have to.” Nirvana's frontman answered. So, moving slowly,  they moved into the cave. No sooner had their feet touched the ground they regretted moving on. The opening from which they entered suddenly became closed off. There was no going back. They ran blindly in the dark, searching desperately for an opening. Any way out19

After a time the group managed reunite...but there was one missing. Carraba. Surely he hadn't wandered too far into the cave. Then again, he was a foolish person. It seemed a very suitable thing for him to do. And in truth, the others were happy to lose him. But soon their consciences began to eat at them. And they started to look for their companion.20

As they went deeper into the new, mysterious realm, it became apparent that Dave was gone. Chris N.,  Kurt and Davey huddled together in the solid black void. There were shadows. Moving swift. Whispering Hissing.  And all at once they were ripped from each other with a sharp shrill scream. 21

It seemed like hours before any of them awoke. They were on damp, cold, hard floor.22
