Chpt.1 on the Run

I was running. Faster and faster as I tried to escape them. They were gaining on me. I looked around franticly trying to find a place to hide even though I knew it would be no use. They would find me. After all, they always did.1

My lungs felt as if they were on fire. My breathing was uneven. I tried to breathe but I couldn't. The air just wouldn't come in. It was as if the air itself was working against me. 2

I heard one of them let out a high pitched squeal. The other laughed.3

I kept running until I found a small door that lead into an abandoned warehouse. I scambled inside, fighting the ugre to scream. I knew this was the end. It was over. All that time, trying to protect him, it was for nothing. I wouldn't be able to protect him anymore. Now, it was up to his father to find him. 4

I heard them break down the door. The Coopeners were getting closer. My breathing became heavier. 5

My leg all of the sudden hit something and felt a hole. An escape.6

I crouched down, feeling around the dark hole to see if it was big enough for me to fit in. It was.7

I carefully put my legs in first. Then slid down the old laundry shoot. I knew they would be waiting for me at the bottom of the shoot. I was ready for them. I pulled the gun from my side pocket. I knew shooting them wouldn't kill them, just slow them down. 8

I could feel the shoot straightening out. I knew my death was just seconds away. 9

I heard their long fingers, scratching at the sides of the opening, waiting. I could feel the blood rush to my head. 10

The opening came into view. So did their long midnight blue cloaks.11

The opening came much to fast. The walls of the shoot shot past me. 12

They grabbed my arms as I struggled away, squirming. One of them, the one with the long, beard, gave me an evil smile. He traced his long, sharp, fingernail from my neck to my forehead.13

"You thought that you could escape. But you couldn't. You knew that we would find you. We always were coming for you as soon as we found out."14


"Found out what?" I asked, trying to act innocent.15

The other slapped me across the face. " You stupid little arrogent girl! We are not idiots! We know what you did!"16

That's when I knew it. They had found out my secret. They knew I had had my baby boy. I knew it was against the law, but how was I supposed to know it would be a boy?17

The one with the beard gave me another smile. " Now, now. There is no need for violence, is there?" he said to the other. Then he looked at me. " We will not hurt you if you can tell us where he is."18

I coughed a laugh. "In you dreams! NEVER!"19

"Fine then," they said. " If you won't tell us then, good bye."20

"WAIT!" screamed the other. "Not yet! I wanted her!"21

"NO!" shouted the other. 22

Then the blackness took over.23
