Chapter. 24: Kidnaped1

Tsunade looked up from the papers on her desk that laid in front of her. “ Well ... “ she sighed, “ not much to say. Except that out of all the genin that took the exams you five are the only ones to become chunnin “ she said. “ Congratulations “ she said. She looked at each of us. Naomi, Sasuke, Rai, Naruto, Sakura and Shikamaru. “ Well done “ Shizune whispered as we walked out of Tsunade’s office. Naomi and the rest of the group decided to go back to their rooms and rest. I looked at Sasuke, who was in front of me, assuming he would want to go back to his room as well. 2

But he just smiled at me. I raised my eyebrows. “ What? “ he asked shrugging his shoulders. “ Aren’t you going to? “ I asked. “ No “ he said. He said it like I was supposed to know all ready. He acted like I just asked him if we had a mission today. “ Good grief “ I muttered under my breath. I started walking in the other direction. “ What’s got your tail all up in a bunch? “ he asked, following. I stopped walking for a second or two. “ That’s not funny “ I said seriously, and started walking again. Before Sasuke could reply, a huge boom filled the atmosphere. Sasuke and I exchanged looks, then started looking for smoke or dirt or a signal of where the boom went off. 3

“ Over there! “ Sasuke said pointing. I looked to the left and saw smoke and dirt in the air. “ The academy? “ I asked looking at Sasuke. “ Yeah, but why? “ he asked. He took my hand and lead me to the academy. “ What happened? “ I asked as soon as I saw Iruka Sensei. “ Someone from the Akatsuki bombed the academy! “ Iruka explained. I looked up in the sky and saw a bird ... or an owl. And on it’s back was a boy, who looked about 17 from what I could see. He had long blonde hair, some of it pulled up into a high ponytail on top of his head, the rest was long. A large bang covered the left side of his face and eye. 4

His eyes were probably a light blue, I couldn’t tell from how high he was. He was wearing a black robe with what looked like red clouds stitched in no specific order. I noticed that his headband had the symbol for the rock village and it had a line drawn through it. “ I found her, she’s near the academy yeah “ I heard him mutter. Before any of us could say anything, the bird lowered until it was about 20 feet in the air. “ You’re Rai Otori? My name’s Deidara, yeah “ he said. I thought it odd that he said “ yeah “ at the end of almost every sentence. Must be a habit. “ What do you want? “ Iruka shouted up to him. Deidara laughed. “ What do I want?! I came for the girl, yeah! “ he answered, still laughing. 5

Sasuke moved in front of me, in a protecting stance. “ You’re gonna have to go through me first “ he growled. Deidara let out another laugh. “ Please, un. A newly made chunnin? Like I’d lose to you, yeah? “ he sneered. As if he had bipolar disorder, he stretched his arms out and pretended to yawn. “ Besides, “ he said, actually yawning, “ I have a partner with me and he should be here soon, un “ he explained. Sasuke let out an angry growl. “ And who is this said partner? “ I asked. “ Hmm ... Sasuke may or may not know him “ Deidara explained. He looked over at me. “ But you will ... oh yes, you’ll know him very well, un “ he said smirking. 6

While Sasuke and I were busy with Deidara, I hadn’t noticed that Iruka had left. “ Rai! Tsunade wants you at the front gate! “ he said grabbing my hand and leading me.When we finally got to the main gate, I saw Tsunade, Deidara and another boy. ‘ Wow, Deidara’s fast ’ I thought. “ I won’t tell you again “ the boy said irritated. Observing him I noticed he had longer black hair tied back, bangs and he wore the same robes as Deidara. His headband revealed that he was from the leaf village. The thing I recognized most was his crimson red eyes. They looked like the sharingan. ‘ Could he be Sasuke’s brother? ’ I wondered. 7

Deidara looked like he was getting impatient. “ Alright, here’s how it goes, un. If you let us take the girl without any problems, I won’t blow the rest of the village up to smithereens, yeah “ he explained. Tsunade and I looked at each other at the same time. “ Rai? “ she questioned. “ I can handle them “ I muttered softly. I started walking slowly toward the gates. “ Let her pass “ Tsunade instructed the guards. Reluctantly, they obeyed and stood back. Once past the gates, I saw clearly that the boy who stood in front of me, was in fact, of Uchiha bloodline. 8

His sharingan was exactly the same as Sasuke’s, except a little more advanced. I stood there, not knowing what do next. “ No games “ the boy muttered. I didn’t answer. “ Come with us “ Deidara said getting off his bird. The bird blew up right next to the gate wall. It made a loud boom and shattered the bricks in it’s path. I heard Deidara laugh in amusement as he walked in front of me. I looked back at Tsunade, who had an annoyed look on her face. “ Hurry up, girl! “ Deidara ordered. Both him and the other boy were walking the path out of the village. I started walking behind them. “ My name is Rai “ I said getting angry. 9

“ Sorry Rai, un “ Deidara replied. As we got farther from the village, I noticed the other boy kept giving me glances even when I was looking straight at him. After a while he stopped and glared at Deidara. “ What’s your problem Itachi, yeah? “ Deidara groaned. “ Go on ahead “ the boy named Itachi instructed. Deidara did as he was told and went on ahead. Itachi looked back at me and then started to walk again. When he realized I wasn’t following, which wasn’t to long, he stopped again and turned around. 10

A cold icy glare and those sharingan eyes of his was more then an indicator for me to start following him. We had been walking for about 10 minutes and I couldn’t help myself. “ Are you Itachi Uchiha? “ I asked. He kept walking, as if he I’d never said anything. “ Why? “ he said finally. “ Curiosity “ I replied. He waited a moment before speaking. “ Curiosity killed the cat “ he answered. He said it like he knew I wouldn’t say anything else about it. “ But satisfaction brought it back “ I retorted. I hoped he would answer me. Not knowing was killing me. After a while he answered. “ I am “ 11

We walked for a couple more minutes. We reached a clearing, a wide field I guess you could say. Not a minute after we reached the field, Itachi suddenly turned around and pinned me to a nearby tree. The force of the impact caused a little trickle of blood to come up out of the side of my mouth. He forcefully turned my head to the right, away from his face. I felt him pull down my sleeve on my left shoulder. At first I thought he might be perverted, but when I didn’t feel the sleeve go any lower I realized something. “ Yes, I know my seal is oh so interesting, but could you let go of me? It’s a very awkward position “ I explained. 12

Itachi removed his attention from my seal and observed. He realized what I meant. On the right my hand was pinned by his and my head was turned uncomfortably. On the left my sleeve was pulled low, revealing my seal and Itachi realized how close his face actually was to my own. He contemplated letting me go for a moment, then removed his hands. After he backed away, I stepped away from the tree. “ Thank you “ I said. I tried to be as polite as I could without showing my irritation. I coughed two or three times then pulled my sleeve back up. Itachi didn’t say anything, he just turned and started walking in the direction that we were headed. 13

Like what happened 2 minutes ago never occurred. I noticed that a lot. He acted like nothing happens, no matter how little or big the encounter is. I followed him, tripping and muttering occasionally. Itachi was walking, not really paying attention to what I was doing. That is until he didn’t hear my footsteps along with his anymore. He stopped turned around and looked up into a nearby tree. Warily, I tried to move farther back into the tree, trying not to make any noise, if at all possible. Unfortunately for me, he had it all figured out. Before I even knew he moved, I saw a huge pair of sharingan eyes in my face. “ You wanna pull tricks? “ was all he said. He said it rather coldly.14

“ ... No ... “ I replied slyly. “ Let me make myself perfectly clear, I don’t want to tell you again, “ he voice softened into a whisper, “ don’t pull any tricks, I will find you, wherever you may hide “ he said. I thought about this for a moment. “ Okay “ I said, admitting defeat. “ Good “ he whispered, then picked me up in his arms and brought me down to the ground with him. As he was putting me on my feet, I noticed that for a brief moment, his eyes changed from his cold, unfeeling sharingan to the much more warming onyx eyes, that Sasuke had made me so accustomed to. 15

Continuing on with our walking, I started wishing that he might talk to me. Something ... anything. Maybe just a “ how are you doing? “ But no, Itachi wasn’t one to engage in conversation on journeys. I learned that for myself. “ So what is this organization your taking me to all about? “ Although I all ready knew the answer, I couldn’t think of anything. Itachi didn’t answer, he didn’t even acknowledge that I had said anything. “ No wonder you don’t have a girlfriend “ I muttered. I meant to keep it to myself, but somehow it slipped out. 16

As Itachi walked he glanced back at me with his cold eyes. I didn’t expect him to say anything after that, but I was wrong again. “ What do you mean? “ he asked quietly. “ Um ... nothing ... I was talking to myself “ I quickly answered. I rethought what I just said. Talking to myself? How lame can you get, Rai?! Jeez, that sounded stupid. “ I see “ he said as he kept walking. Almost immediately after, out of nowhere, a big group of sound ninja landed in front of us. Itachi glanced back at me and noticed that I had summoned a blue arrow-headed dagger. I raised my eyebrows. “ Take the ones on the left of you “ he instructed. I wasn’t about to ignore him. I charged the first ninja that I saw. 17

As Itachi worked on the ones on his right, I noticed how gracefully he moved, how he easily dodged the attackers punches. I, on the other hand, was to focused on watching Itachi. “ Didn’t your village teach you to keep your attention on your opponent?! “ one ninja shouted. By the time I turned my head to him, his fist was already a couple inches from my face. His punch knocked me down to the ground. I struggled to sit up, it felt like I had a pile of bricks on my chest. Then my vision started to blur. As I fought to keep them open, I felt myself fall slowly back down to the ground. The last thing I remembered was seeing Itachi turning to face me.
