What is your Youth Culture? -- English Essay

In the youth culture, there are different types of cultures, for example: Emo, Goth, Chav etc. Complete with these cultures, there are many different personalities that suit everyone. Here, I will describe my own youth culture. 1

In my past times, I listen to music whilst playing Role-Play games, with my friends, on the computer. I rarely leave my room and I like to be alone. I read fantasy books often to help build my imagination and vocabulary. With this isolation and lack of communication with the people around me, I become anti-social and hard to talk to. Since a past event, I have become more anti-social, shy and my confidence has buckled. For these specific pastimes, my culture could be goth.2

The clothes I wear could also determine the youth culture I belong to. Personally, I wear black, heavy clothes. They make me feel comfortable, secure and less vulnerable. The heavy material and the dark colour keeps me warm as it stores heat. This is an advantage in winter but I attempt to wear lighter clothing in the Summer. Occasionally, I wear chains attached to my clothing but it's not often. Determined from the clothes I wear, my culture could also be goth or possibly mosh.3

Complete with the clothes I wear, I have a number of body ornaments. These include large, black or red earrings that I wear outside of school hours. In addition to these, I wear various necklaces that include a black and silver cross pendant; a silver dragon holding a sapphire; a black and diamond choker and a purple cat-collar. At times, I like to wear fake jewelry, such as fake lip rings, but it's not as often. Make up is essential if I'm going to leave the house after school for without it, I feel bare. This mostly consists of black and the occasional blue. With these items, I could be considered a mosh or a goth.4

My speech is difficult to judge as I rarely speak at all. At home, I am isolated away from my family and at school, I speak only to answer my name and answer a few questions. My voice is rather deep and croaky for my age group. For the mute of my voice, I could be put under an Emo heading.5

Music is a big factor for me. I enjoy listening to different styles of music, such as emocore, heavy metal, punk rock and rock bands. Some examples of these are Skillet, Slipknot, Floater, GlassJaw, Dear Superstar, My Chemical Romance, Korn and Paramore. I feel best suited with these types of music for I have liked the genres for many years. Judging from these types of music bands, I could be considered as an emo, goth or mosh.6

My conclusion to the question, 'What is your youth culture?', I think that you can't really focus on one form of the youth culture for there are different personalities that come from the variety. Therefore, everyone is their own person and one culture alone doesn't determine who they are. Everyone is unique in their own different ways.
