Don't Answer The Door - Ch. 19

Alex looked up, but something began to seep into his left eye. He tried to lift his arm so he could wipe it off, but it took him a lot of energy. When he looked at his hand after touching his eye, he saw something red. His blood was beginning to cover his eye. He must have fell on his bruise, and it must have started to bleed again.2

Alex looked up at the unknown person standing over him. He began to feel someone shaking him by the shoulders.3

"Alex, Alex! Get up! Oh my God!" He heard a female voice scream at him.4

"Eva?" Alex asked, confused.5

Alex felt her hands hold his head up. It is as if her hands were magical because right then, Alex didn't feel that much pain. He realized it was fear of who he thought was standing above him that made him feel that way. Now that he realized it was Eva, he felt better.6

Alex got up and brushed himself off. He looked at Eva and then placed his hands on her shoulder because he felt dizzy. Alex was about to fall but Eva grabbed onto him. 7

"What happened to you?!" She asked, her hands shaking.8

"Are you okay?" Alex asked as he realized something wasn't okay.9

Eva was panting, breathing hard. Her hands were trembling, her entire body was shaking. She felt really cold, and tears were running down her face. Alex saw Eva shake her head no to his question. She didn't say anything. Her eyes looked really cold, revealing no emotion but terror.10

"Let's get back in the car Eva, hurry." He said, grabbing her, putting his arm around her.11

"No!" Eva screamed, as she stood in one spot not moving. 12

It didn't seam like Alex heard her because he continued to keep walking. He didn't go too far ahead of Eva, because he wanted to make sure she would follow him. She did. 13

Eva ran up to Alex, her head shaking no, but her lips saying nothing. Alex didn't know what was wrong with her. He just passed it by that she was still terrified from seeing the dead body, Darla's dead body. 14

Alex and Eva reached the car and Alex noticed steam coming out from under the hood. 15

"Damn it, The radiator is fucked up !" He screamed, as he kicked the back door, where he saw Matt laying.16

Alex turned to face Eva, but then suddenly stopped, his mouth falling open. He turned back to look at Matt as he started to scream. Eva knew what he was screaming about and all she could do was cry. Her tears were hot against her cold pale face. 17

Alex jumped back from the car door, as he continued to freak out.18

"What the hell happened to him?!" He screamed, to no one in particular.19

He got a hold of himself as he slowly walked towards the trunk of the car. Alex was searching for a flashlight until he found one. He made sure it worked as he went back to the side door, and opened it. Right away he threw his hand up to his nose to cover the awful stench that flooded him and Eva. 20

"Oh God.." He said horrified at what he saw.21

"Who's doing this? Why?!" Eva screamed into the night, not wanting a reply. 22

Eva knew it was Cage, but she didn't know why he was killing everyone. He was a serial killer, and she never understood them. She hadn't really been familiar with any, hadn't ever read anything about anyone. But she, unlike anyone else, had the chance to experience the horror in person. She placed her hands over her face as she began to cry harder. 23

The tears that fell were not tears of sorrow. They were tears of horror, of shock, of terror. She never thought she would see Matt dead. Deep down she was happy, but she was still shocked. Why would Cage kill Matt? Why would he answer Alex's and her prayers?24

Alex shined the flashlight on Matt's dead body. There was blood all over the seat, all over the back window, all over the floor. Eva and Alex have never seen so much blood before, they couldn't believe that it all belonged to Matt. Alex stared wide-eyed at the entire mess, couldn't look away. 25

Matt's body was cut open, right down the middle of his chest, down to his stomach. His testicles were ripped off and shoved into his own mouth. Alex began to puke, getting some on his car. He didn't care, it was already messed up beyond repair. Matt's thighs seemed as if someone stuck in their claws and ripped the skin apart. His feet were cut off and placed in the gap in the middle of his chest. His entire body was discombobulated, parts of his body placed in other parts. 26

Eva was confused as to why anyone would want to do this to someone? Matt was never the one to be nice, but he still never deserved this. The horror did not end there. His eye balls were poked out, and they were hanging down his face by only a thread, a vein. 27

She put her hand on Alex's back, trying to comfort him.28

"What do we do Alex, where do we go? How do we get back to town?" She asked, hinting a lot of fear in her voice.29

"I don't know.. I really don't know.." He said.30

Eva took one last look at Matt, the man she thought was her father through her entire life. The man that killed her mother, the man that raped her countless times. The man that ruined her life. Eva felt no sorrow at all, in fact, her horror turned into hate. She spit on Matt's dead body, although the cold staring eyes were looking at her, accusing her of everything, she didn't care.31

"Let's get out of here quickly Alex." Eva said, as she took Alex's hand to not get separated from him.32

"Yeah..." Alex said, looking at Matt. 33

For some reason, he felt responsible. He's the one that tied him up, he's the one that locked him in the backseat. If Matt was free at the time, he could have probably had a chance. Alex's lips began to quiver as he imagined what happened.34

He imagined Matt laying there, waking up from a knock that was from the top of the car. He would have been confused, and he would have probably began to freak out if he saw Cage jump onto the hood of the car. Alex could imagine Cage breaking through the windshield with a sword that headed straight for Matt's chest. He imagined the effort it would have taken to rip a man apart, to get out all of that blood. The worst thing he imagined were Matt's fat, cold hands, shaking as he tried to get out of the rope that Alex had tied. He imagined what the last thought in Matt's head would have been, "Why did you tie me up, Alex, why? This is all your..." Alex figured the life was taken from Matt before he could think any more. 35

Alex closed his eyes as he gulped, hot tears stinging his eyes. 36

"I'm a murderer." He said softly, so softly that Eva could not hear him. 37

"What?" She asked, curious to what he said.38

"I killed Matt..." Alex said, his eyes staring at the trees that surrounded them.39

"What? What are you talking about? No you didn't Alex.. You didn't kill anyone!" Eva said, trying to comfort Alex. 40

"Hunny, it is not your fault that Matt was killed. It's not."41

"Why did I tie him up? I should have known something would have happened to him. I should have known..." Alex whispered into the crisp night.42

Eva felt so sorry for Alex. She felt so bad for everything he went through, everything he's going through right now. She did not know what to say that would help him. Eva took his arm and they began walking out of the woods and up the hill back to the road. 43

There were no words spoken as they slowly walked down the shoulder of the street, as Alex continued to stare at the trees around him, and Eva stared at the long road ahead of them. She didn't know how they were going to get back home. Eva was beginning to feel afraid, the fear rising up from the bottom of her heart.44
