I looked to the world
like a blind man seeing.
All the sights new,
all the sights precious.
Each new sight disappeared
almost as soon as it came.
Joining the blackness
which called my name.1
Why did it happen?
Why was I here?
I could hear screaming,
but they wouldn't find me.
The rubble stealing my breath,
was too deep,
too large,
too heavy.2
There was no sign
of that which had caused my dismay.
That big steel bird,
that killed so many of us that day.
