Friends in Low Places (contest entry round II)

My story works out a little weird for this. For the first round I entered Damon, one of the two main characters from my story Dealings with Demons. 1

Dealings with Demons is essentially in two parts, Dealings with Demons and it's sequel Fighting Shadows. A main character in DWD Damon is a minor character in Fighting Shadows due to the way it ends. Also DWD lacks supporting minor characters due to it's conflict, Fighting Shadows does not. So although Damon isn't a main character in Fighting Shadows, he plays an important role and since the two stories are one in the same I will be pulling my minor characters from Fighting Shadows. 2

Naomi Breaker- 4

Naomi is a girl of sixteen with shoulder length black hair and green eyes. She is the other main character from my Dealings with Demons, in fact both stories are written in first person from her point of view. Naomi lacks self-confidence, and is often easily pushed around, but has a trust in people a quality that she sometimes come to hate. Still she can have a haughty attitude and sarcastic remarks. 5

She grew up in a broken family; mother step-father, and an older brother. After her father left Naomi's mother remarried, Naomi's step-father was physically abusive and would beat her, her brother Miles was the only one who protected her. But Miles grew up and had to leave home, Naomi attempted to runaway to him several times and Miles attempted to get custody. She wasn't willing to wait for that to happen and called him on a rainy night to come pick her up. Miles's car skidded off a bridge and he drowned on the way to get her. 6

In self blame Naomi turns to black magic to help revive her brother, she summons a demon. The demon helps her because it is required of him. He reveals to her a potion is needed to bring back the dead and together they set out to find the ingredients. Instinctively Naomi treat the demon as an equal and a love hate relationship form between them. 7

Dilyn Saber- Fighting Shadows8

Dilyn is a sometimes vicious, arrogant, and often sarcastic teenage boy. He's hair is a vibrant red color, his skin is pale and peppered with freckles. He's tall and lanky and often disgruntled and complaining over one thing or another. A seemingly unwilling friend of Saffy's he puts up with the small girl if only out of need for the companionship of a somewhat normal human being. 9

Dilyn spent several years in a asylum for the mentally unstable due to an uncontrolled ability he has of being able to pick up on the emotions of someone who's left their 'mark' on a certain object. With a strong enough connection he can become possessed. His awareness of the emotions around him contributes to his sometimes unpredictable mood swings. Most time he seems to be the antagonist he knows where his loyalties lie and isn't quick to abandon comrades. 10

Saffy Carson- Fighting Shadows/Angel in Darkness (aged)11

Saffy is a sweet ten year old girl untouched by the soul sucking asylum she's lived in since the age of seven. An orphan since birth she was placed in the asylum for her unusual behavior and impossible knowledge of the intimate details of other peoples lives. The little girl and her strange ability to know more then she should about a person instill a fear in people around her, despite her cheery and optimistic outlook. She's the first to bring Dilyn and Naomi together. 12

Miles Breaker- 13

Miles is Naomi's once dead brother. He's friendly and protective of his younger sister, doing whatever it takes to make her happy. His hair is brown and styled always in soft spikes, he has blue eyes and beneath his punky exterior he's kind and sensible. The tough guy of the group he doesn't go looking for enemies or pick fights, self defense is his number one reason for any fight.
