I didn't fully understand this but I don't know what ping means either and what exactly it has to do with the meaning...but it does sound unique to say the least.

Thanks! "He ping" is, unless my friends and online dictionaries were wrong (please tell me if they were wrong) either the Chinese or Japanese word for hope. It makes sense within the context of the story.
