Don't Answer The Door - Ch. 18

"Oh My God Alex!" Eva screamed2

She turned to the side, facing away from Alex and began to throw up. She had never seen a dead body before, at least not in real life. She began to cry and scream.3

"Eva, Eva! Calm down!" Alex screamed as he waved his hand for Eva to follow him.4

Alex slowly walked towards the body. He noticed that it was a female. Her face seemed disfigured, and he knew that was his fault. When he looked at the body he realized she was naked. Eva was staring at the body as she noticed something wrong. 5

"Oh my God! Oh my God!" She screamed and pointed at the area that was a few feet away from the lady's body.6

"Her breasts! Someone cut off her breasts!" She screamed and pointed at the detached body parts that were just laying on the ground.7

Eva got in Alex's arms and began crying.8

"She was already dead." Alex said quietly in a steady voice.9

Eva looked up to look in Alex's eyes.10

"What are you talking about? We hit her! We killed her!" She screamed, losing control once again.11

Alex took Eva and slapped her. He didn't want her to scream, he couldn't stand it anymore. He was feeling angry as he stared at the body. For once, he didn't cry at the realization that the body was for his ex-girlfriend. He felt angry, angry more than ever that she was murdered. Why is he doing this to him?12

"Damn you Cage!" Alex screamed into the night. 13

"Damn you straight to the pits of hell!" He continued to scream.14

Eva placed her hand on her face, it was burning from the slap. She didn't hold it against him, she realized he knew the girl. Eva placed her hand on his shoulder, trying to comfort him. She knew he was going through a lot, and she didn't know how to help him.15

Alex clenched his fists as he slowly walked closer to the body. 16

"Darla..." He said quietly to himself. 17

He remembered the moment's they had together, he remembered how she broke his heart. Alex became shocked and angry at himself for the realization that he felt a little satisfaction. Now she realizes the pain she put him through.18

"Who is she?" Eva asked, as she stood watching Alex.19

"Her name's Darla. She.. she was an ex-girlfriend." Alex said, his voice beaming in the silent night.20

Eva really felt sorry for Darla. She felt sorry for Alex that he had to see her like this. He probably really cared about her.21

"Alex, I know you don't want to admit that we didn't do this, but we did damn it, we did do it!" She said, trying to control herself.22

"No we didn't!" Alex screamed, as he twisted his head to look at Eva.23

"Why don't you come closer and look at her Eva. Look down her chest, down her stomach. Look damn it." He said.24

Eva walked slowly towards the body, and tried to make out what she needed to see. It was too dark, and the tall trees around them didn't really help her see because they were blocking out the sunlight.25

She came closer, and put her hand over her stomach as she finally saw what it was Alex was angry about. She finally saw what it is that made Alex so sure that she was already dead.26

Eva threw up again. Darla's body had been cut open. That's not it though, that's not the only thing that horrified the two of them. It wasn't left cut open, someone had sewed the body up, right in the middle of her body. Who could do that?27

"...Oh...Wow..." She said as she felt her knees go weak. 28

"I, I only ran over her dead body.. I..." Alex paused to take a deep breath.29

"Whoever did this, they knew we were coming. Whoever did this..."30

"Cage did this." Alex told Eva, cutting her off.31

Eva began to be paranoid, looking around. All she saw were dark trees and a starless sky. She took a hold Alex's arm and began to pull on him.32

"Alex, Please let's get out of here! Please!" She said, becoming afraid.33

"What?" Alex said, looking like he just came out of a daydream.34

"If Cage did this, then he's still around. He's been watching us! How else would he know we were coming, Alex?!" She screamed.35

Alex finally realized that Eva was right. He stood up quickly and looked at Darla's body once again. He didn't want to leave her here. He didn't think it was right, but what else could he do? He couldn't take her with them because there was blood everywhere, and she was dead. He felt a cold shiver run down his spine as he looked at her face once again. Her blue eyes were staring right at him. He didn't know if it was only him but it looked as if Darla's eyes were begging for forgiveness. Alex threw that idea away, not believing for a chance that she had felt any sorrow or regret for what she did to him a long time ago.36

Alex heard footsteps running, and he looked besides him only to realize that Eva was already running. He began to run after her. 37

"Eva, Wait!" He screamed after her, wanting her to wait with him.38

She kept running, faster than she's ever ran before. They were heading down the hill, towards his car. Eva was a long way ahead of Alex, and he couldn't seem to catch up with her. He was hurting all over, and his head felt like it was beating to the sound of drums. He had to stop a few times to take deep breaths to keep from passing out. His head was throbbing, so he began to walk quickly, instead of run. 39

Alex heard a long, loud horrified scream coming from ahead. He suddenly began running quickly, ignoring the killing pain in his head. 40

"Eva!" He was screaming her name as he was running. 41

He wanted her to know that he was coming. Alex hadn't prayed in the longest time. He lost faith in God ever since all the pain that he's been through, but at that moment he began praying in his mind, praying for God to keep Eva safe. He didn't know what was wrong with her, and he still hadn't reached her.42

"Eva?! Where are you?!" He asked, not knowing if she was at the car or not. 43

While Alex was running, he tripped and fell hard to the ground. It had dried, dead leaves on the ground. The ground was all moist and he felt shooting pain run through his body. It was shooting up and down. He heard her scream again, and he tried to get up. 44

He couldn't get up, his body was in too much pain, and his head was throbbing in so much pain. Again, she was screaming again, and the screams were coming closer. When he tried to get up once again, he fell hard on his back. Alex was helpless now. All he could do was lay down on the ground, in between the trees and stare at the sky. He was looking at the moon, but suddenly it went out of view. He couldn't make it out, but he saw someones face right over his head. 45

Someone was standing over him, staring down at him. Alex opened his mouth to scream in fear, but he couldn't seem to find his voice.46
