I'm Mitzy

This story may be about a dog. But, it's also about giving up and neglecting someone you love. We had two dogs already, Albee and Emily. My parents decided to get a new one, Mitzy. Her name was Itzy, but they thought it was stupid. She was an abused three year old dog in a pet adoption place where my parents got the other two. The day I met her, I got in the car with her and she was shaking so hard that the seat was vibrating. It wasn't until now, I realized who she reminded me of. They say that she was scared of men because a man always hit her. I was eleven when my father went to jail for molesting children, including myself and older sister. I was so afraid of men that when I pick my friends, I chose ones without a father around.1

To my parents, Mitzy was a problem. She would bark and pee whenever and where ever she wanted. So, in two days- monday- they will be taking her back. This morning, I walked into the living room and I saw Mitzy on the ground looking up at me. My face went red and tears swam down making my hands damp by wiping them off. Every man, every family has gave up on Mitzy. Just like everyone gave up on me. No one tries to help me with school or with my personal problems. I feel like I'm sitting here looking up at someone and they can't help me. I'm Mitzy.
