Upon The Hill

This will be a very special Easter. It is my first Easter as a Christian. I only found Jesus Christ last July. Little did I know how much my life would change. There has been so much to learn as I read the Bible each day. I remember reading of the Crucifixion the first time. I realized then what the true meaning of Easter was. It wasn't chocolate bunnies  or Easter eggs. Yes that is a part of the joy in Easter but we must never forget how Jesus died for us and the cruelty He suffered being nailed to the cross while He was still alive. He suffered for you and me.  Imagine the pain He suffered. So yes I look at the Easter celebration different this year for the first time then I did my entire life. Thank you Jesus for forgiving my sins. 1

Jesus you died upon that cross for me,2

how you suffered for their brutality,3

you did not scream as the nails went in,4

you still looked at them so lovingly.5

Dear Jesus as you hung upon that cross,6

you forgave them for what they had done,7

your crown of thorn upon your head,8

was fit for a King, for God's only son.9

God  had allowed His only son to suffer,10

throughout such agony and torturous pain,11

knowing it was only the beginning for Him12

for in Heaven Jesus was about to reign.13

As Jesus took His very last breath of air,14

the wind was blowing the skies turned black,15

God knew in three days Jesus would return,16

He would be resurrected, He would be back.17

Yes Jesus died and suffered upon the cross,18

we should never forget Jesus Crucifixion,19

as He died we were forgiven all our sins,20

He gave us Salvation free from affliction.. 21

What a beautiful, thought provoking write.  I have recently developed a spiritual connection with God...I was not born or raised in a religious family, so I never spent much time thinking about God...it wasn't until I was at the lowest depths of my life did I cry out to God for help...and he saved me.

I struggle with staying spitritually fit, my will seems stronger than God's and that's when things start going wrong again.  It doesn't  take me long before I realize that I need to get back in touch with my pilot and let God direct me.

    It's a wonderful thing.

    Very beautiful

My first impression was how beautiful this poem is. The way you penned these words I could almost feel His pain, however none will ever truly feel just what He went through, for it was not only the physical suffering but His anguish for all mankind.I found that I was truly engulfed in this poem and there was nothing awkward in it and I would not change anything about it. Every part was my favorite. The only problem is it does not seem to have enough impact on the community or humanity in general, it should be everything to every one, but the devil has far to much of a hold on far too many peoply. Your poem would have more impact if more people would read it and take it to heart. The title "Upon the Hill" says it all. The first line is the perfect beginning for this poem. The last line is what it is all about. A very great poem. I liked it very much.

    Very good

    Amen. Simple, but profound message.

I was born on Easter Sunday in 1976. When I was 14 years old I came to understand what Jesus did for me. Even more important thatn the crucifix is the bare cross, knowing He is risen and still living, having released the Holy Spirit to comfort us.

    God bless you.

This is a beautiful write. The little story of you finding Salvation, and celebrating Easter as a Christian for the first time. It is an awesome way of live. TO be covered by the Blood of Jesus and know that you will live enternally with Him. That is just too wonderful to imagine. You've written a beautiful poem as well. Thank you so much for sharing your good news with us, and for entering the contest.
