High school Reunion - Part Two

High School Reunion 1

~1: 25 AM~2

Part Two3

Louise stared at the wall. He body dropping across the plastic chair she sat on, with her hands crossed over her body. Her hand bag sitting on her lap like an obedient pooch.4

It was past One Am, she was sure of it, but the party was only beginning to heat up and she had, had more than her fair share of alcohol for the evening.5

Disorientated, finding it hard to see, Louise giggled at the sight of her high school boyfriend throwing himself around the dance floor: his imitation much like that of a baboon who had been stung by a swarm of bees.6

The loud music boomed. Reminding her of the old days where she was the life of the Saturday night disco's. Disco's where she would stumble home half-pissed and throw herself into bed: before the morning came, the sunlight shining in her eyes, her body ready to hurl.7

The night had proven to her a valid fact that she was not the sprightly, party animal she once was and now a nice, warm, bed looked more inviting than the colorful drinks that were still being offered to her while the morning was young.8

Teresa Holland plunked herself besides Louise. Her arm wrapped around her shoulder, he head resting lazily on her arm.9

“ I'm to old for this shit,” she slurred, the alcohol she had induced lingering out her mouth with every word she spoke. 10

Louise nodded in agreement, scanning the room. The likelihood of her hitching a ride home was like her chance in winning the lottery. It would be lucky to find even one person in the room who was sober, or even mildly and even then it was not a chance she was willing to take; seeings as some of her peers looked in par to a few serial killers she had seen on the crime channel.11

“I completely understand where you're coming from,” she stammered, pulling Teresa's arm from around her shoulder: almost knocking her peer to the ground upon impact. 12

Teresa held her composure:barely. Pushing her body into an upright position, she smiled at Louise, grabbing her hand: before attempting to drag her to her feet.13

“What do you say we head back to mine for a little nightcap sweetie,” Teresa slurred, her words streaming out faster this time. Her adrenaline sinking in. It was her second wind and she was going to ride it till the break of dawn.14

Louise shook her head. Her body feeling in par with the rag dolls that she still kept on her bed. Her knees wobbled, her body trembled. She could stand up at least, but even when she did she felt as if her whole body was about to give way: leaving her wasted on the concrete floor.15

“I need to go home...I need to be in bed... I need to sober up” she told Teresa, declining her invitation. 16

“Party animal back in her cage?” Teresa questioned, though it was more of a joking statement more than a question and Louise's mental ability to string her words together was getting worse by the second.17

“I just need to go home,” she stated, fumbling around in her hand bag for her mobile phone. God darn it, she thought. I know I have it here somewhere.18

“Why?” Teresa asked giggling in a manner that had not changed since high school. “It's not a school night, so what are you worried about?”19

What am I worried about? Louise thought to herself, reaching into the bottom of her bag, clutching her mobile phone between her fingers. What am I worried about?20

Dragging her phone from her hand bag she pressed a few buttons. The shiny lights of the disco ball glistening in her eyes; making it hard for her to see.21

“I'm not entirely sure what I am worried about. I just need to be at home, I've had a long week and I am due for another one after the weekend is over. I guess you're right I am not the party animal I used to be. So lock me up girl and throw away the key, cause as soon as my taxi comes I am out of here.”22

Louise turned her back, not wanting to face Teresa's amused expression that were painted on , much to that like a clown in a circus. Childish, amusing, but the novelty wore of; especially when she had seen it all before. Some people never changed.23

“Ah yes I would like to get a taxi please... 34 Harpers Street... Forty-Five minutes...Alright thank you.”24

Turning to face Teresa Louise bent down and kissed her peer on the cheek. Taking her time to draw in the memories of the evening: before pulling away once again to scan the room.25

“I'll be waiting outside if anybody needs me,” she yelled. The music seemed to be getting louder: it was beginning to play with her head. Not to mention her vision that only kept getting worse as the morning progressed: the alcohol well and truly settling into her system.26

Louise pushed her way through a crowd of her peers lining up the do the conga, saying her her regards to a few who she was dearly going to miss. She was glad to have taken the time to exchange phone numbers and most where sorry to see her leave, but she had learned over many years that when her body was screaming for something she had to go with her instincts: she was beyond shattered.27

Stepping through the front doors she smiled, giving the hall one last look before the doors of her past closed forever. Leaving her faced with the crisp, cool, breeze of the early morning; under the half moon, the stars shining a pathway to a brighter future.28

Way beyond tipsy Louise rested against a brick wall, sliding down its rough exterior till her body slumped against the wall; her knees pressed against her cheeks. She could have sworn she saw a Taxi pull up in front of her. But upon closing her eyes, she drifted of into a land she remembered seeing back when she was sixteen.29

The magical land of rainbows and power. The land of make believe and delusions, hallucinations and wishful thinking. The land of nod, the land of exhaustion and the land of sleep: still conscious, but not fully alert.30

Little did she know what was waiting for her behind the creamy, car doors of her fathers station wagon. That was parked in front of the entrance.

    Wow-I love this paragraph:
"Stepping through the front doors she smiled, giving the hall one last look before the doors of her past closed forever. Leaving her faced with the crisp, cool, breeze of the early morning; under the half moon, the stars shining a pathway to a brighter future."
It really made me feel at loss, as if I'll actually miss my high school years once they are done torturing me. Excellent way to get "inside" the readers head. I also liked the description in the last sentence:
"Little did she know what was waiting for her behind the creamy, car doors of her fathers station wagon. That was parked in front of the entrance."
I got this wierd feeling in my stomach when I read it and had to go back a few times...I really like this so far!!

And so the plot thickens behind her dads intentions. Can't keep the snake in bed huh?
Nice description on the booze and not being the same while others still were.
