A dwarf, sitting upon a large, black rock, sighed wearily. His long red hair flowed over his shoulders, though with far less grace than a river, and ended above his waist. A hammer was thrust into his belt besides his short sword, and his hands showed the signs of hard work, with several fingers broken.1
"Bah!" he cried, shaking his fist at the raven beside him. "I don't know why I bother! I spend all my life making swords, mending armour, wasting my time doing boring jobs for people who are too stupid to learn how to do them themselves. Why, I should hand my hammer to the next one to come along and show him the way to the anvil so he can try his hand at forging, and see what a boring task it is!"2
The raven smiled, if you can imagine such a thing, and croaked, "Master dwarf, if you are so eager to hand your job on to somebody else, perhaps you should try their job in their place. Here comes an elf now, with his mail shirt slung over his shoulder. Show him to the forge, and draw your sword, if you dare, and try your hand at something new. If you crave adventure, leave your rocks and your metals behind and seek it."
Author notes
Oo I quite like this myself now!
I don't often write about dwarves or elves, but I sometimes have brief images, so I though I'd give you this and you can see if it inspires you to write more!

this is an interesting start and im curious about it

Neat idea. If Eternal Knight doesn't write it, you should. It would be amusing to see a dwarf try to walk a mile in an elf's shoes.

I really enjoyed reading this. I think it could turn out to be a really great story. Thanks for entering my contest and have fun writing!
