Thomas Jackson was crying.2
He missed his daughter terribly, he'd started missing her the moment she was out of sight and had to battle with himself not to raise the gun to his own head for failing to get her back.3
"I won't forget you Anne," He murmured as if she could hear him, "I know you didn't want this, I'll find some way to punish him for this."4
But Thomas didn't know how. Joshua Sanclair didn't have a daughter himself. He didn't even have a wife...well he did now. He had many things of value, but nothing that was worth the life of a child. Nothing that was worth Anne Jackson's life.5
Thomas knew of nothing he could do, but oh, how he hated Joshua Sanclair.6

half an hour later8
Lucas pulled into a gravel driveway and I pulled Ellyan towards me and covered her eyes before she could see the address of the house. She nearly bit my hand in the process and kicked me several times but I let her go when we passed the address sign and, making a mental note to remove the sign, practically threw her back to her side of the car.9
When we were parked and I got out I locked the door so she couldnt until I got her and went over to her side.10
When I unlocked the door and opened it she crawled to the other side out of my reach.11
"You aren't getting away from here," I said matter-of-factly and she glared at me, "Might as well come inside, Ellyan."12
She continued to glare.13
I gave her a cruel smile, "Or you could stay out her and bake...either way it doesn't affect me"14
She grudgingly moved toward me and when she was within reach I grabbed her arms and led her towards the house. She struggled and fought the whole way and when we were about six feet from the door she broke away and started running in the opposite direction.15
I pulled pistol from inside my coat and pointed it at her retreating figure.16
"Don't move, Ellyan," I said in a loud smooth voice, "Or I shoot."17
She froze and turned around to face me.18
I was bluffing of course, I could no more kill her then I could kill Jesus Christ. Joshua Sanclair had no idea how right he'd been, no one in my family could kill a human. I couldn't even kill a deer.19
Not that she knew that.20
I went over to where she stood and, keeping the gun pointed at her, I grabbed her. This time she didn't fight me and I honestly couldnt blame her.21
"If you cooperate, Ellyan, I promise, no I swear, I won't hurt you," I muttered more to myself then to her.22
"Then why do you have that?" She said as she glanced nervously toward the gun.23
"More to get your attention then anything," I admitted, "But I will use it of I have to, don't doubt that."24
She gasped, he eyes widening, "You'd kill me?" She whispered. I had a good feeling she was appreciating life now.25
"No," I said after a pause, "Killing you would make taking you pointless. But I would hurt you."26
"Why did you take me?" She whimpered.27
"For ransom," I answered, surprised that I was being so honest with her, "Joshua Sanclair destroyed my family financally, and more then that." I glanced down at her wide, terrified eyes, "Two million in ransom actually."28
I pushed the door Lucas had left ajar open further with my foot.29
"My father hasn't got that much money!" Ellyan sqealed as I pulled her through the door30
"They you'll be here for a while." I said and she fell silent as tears streamed down her face.31
