Sarah a child with golden ringlet hair, walked to school about a half a mile, seeming to be a typical day.She always stopped at the bakers to see Mr. Campbell. He had her favorite donut hole, chocolate of course, waiting at her small table and chair, by the register.Time passed, Sarah was never ever tardy, maybe she was ill Mr. Campbell thought and went on with his day.
Bellmont Elementary called Sarah's mom about her absentee, wondering, if she was hurt or ill.But Sarah's mom went on to say,"Sarah left at 8:00 clock her usual time." Being in forth grade the principal Mrs.Chad became very worried and called the police.
The Bellmont County Police responded immediately they knew Sarah was in trouble deep, because they had to deal with Children and Youth reports before on Sarah being abused by both parents. Also she would come to school hobbling and bent with enormous bruises.Sarah also spent time in Wakley Hospital for Children with broken limbs and a fractured skull.
Sarah's parents claim they know nothing of her where abouts. They had their story practiced, as though they were reading cue cards. The police had to let them go free, but they were number one suspects in her disappearance.
Mr.Campbell rushed to the aid of Sarah's parents Jed and Blakely, who showed no remorse or anguish. Mr. Campbell deemed this very odd, he couldn't hold his tears in, as he looked at Sarah's broken picture on the dusty mantel. Jed asked, the baker to leave, her dad just wanted to giggle and laugh, for he knew where Sarah's iced body laid.
Many questions to who seen Sarah went on about the tightly knitted neighborhood.
Mrs. Johnson across street heard something peculiar last night a cat fight of some sort she thought and awoke, as she watched Jed go out about 3:00 AM. She told the police department detective Blare and he went directly to Jed and questioned,"Where did you go so late at night, last night?"
Jed stuttered and stumbled a bit, his laughter inside was gone, he replied,"Nowhere I was home all night. What makes you think I went anywhere?"
Detective Blair answered,"Just tell use where Sarah is? We have a witness that saw you leave at 3:00 am last night."
Sarah's father just turned and ran to his car. Detective pulled his pistol and shot old Jed in the knee. Jed fell to the ground in an insane panic and said," My Sarah, so sweet, she loved me every night, until that crazy youth place told her it was wrong.I beat her and beat her, all I wanted was for her to love me, again." He began to squirm, as they handcuffed him, but no one knew where Blakely her mother got to.
She was last seen throwing flowers over the bridge at Milk River. Blakely never returned some people think she jumped from that retched bridge, where remains wash out to sea.
Inside the Belmount Inquirer read on the front page: Sarah Monroe died a terrible death drowned in Milk River and was severely beaten. When do we intervene and take the child away? Must we wait until there is front page news? Sorrow and pain is all that sweet child of eight years, lived. Where are her human rights to have a good safe life? So many questions, but when will we never have to ask them again? How many children die the same brutal way, as poor helpless frail Sarah?

Could have been better. I knew I'd get child abuse stories in this contest. I didn't seem believable, I know it happens but how you wrote it didn't seem believable. If her parents had been proven of that they more then likely would not have custody of her any longer, or the police would have been quicker to convict them. Needs to be written better, more realistic, more believable. Thank you for entering my contest.
