I Thought I Was Your Average Tomboy, That Was Until I Met Him-He Changed EVERYTHING

Riley’s POV1

The lessons soon bored me and I pulled out my book. I loved to read, it put me in a whole different world. I lost all thoughts and went into my own world. The book I had with me was about vampires, one of my favorite things to read about. 2

The bell rang and I closed my book. According to my schedule I had lunch now. I go to my locker and put away my textbooks, keeping the book I was reading. Heading to the cafeteria I run into Mike. 3

“Hey Riley wanna sit with me and my friends at lunch?” he ask.4

“Ya sure.” I tell him coming up on the cafeteria doors.5

He leads me toward a table. It was pretty crowded with people and made me feel a bit uncomfortable. I finished eating quickly and started looking around. Then I noticed a group of people. They were secluded from everyone else and people seemed to avoid them. They were all amazingly beautiful. Pale white, perfect features, everything about them was perfect. 6

Their cloths were defiantly designer, and you felt a bit of annoyance. Figures, perfect cloths, perfect features, they seemed like the stuck up rich kid kind. I wondered what they were doing in this little town.7

“Hey Mike.” I say and he turns, “Who are those kids sitting over there?” I ask pointing to the secluded group of people. 8

“O them” he says a bit bitter, “They’re the Cullens. Alice, Jasper, Rosaline, Emmett, and Edward. They’re all adopted by this doctor and his wife. They are all together, Alice with Jasper, Emmett with Rosaline.” 9

“What about Edward?” I ask looking at the boy who was sitting a bit farther from the others, obviously not a couple with someone. “Do they always sit alone?” I ask.10

He thought for a bit, a sour look on his face. Then one of the girls sitting at the table answered you. “Edward doesn’t date and ya they always sit alone, it’s not like anyone wants to be near them.” her voice was also sour, what was it about everyone and these Cullens?11

“Always ehh?” I ask. Well maybe someone could break that little unwritten ‘rule’.12

They didn’t seem stuck up, despite their cloths and looks. I look at them more closely, they weren’t eating. They hadn’t even touched their food, they weren’t looking at anything particular either. Something about them wasn’t exactly human, and I was going to find out what. 13

I stood up and threw my empty tray away and instead of walking towards the table I was once at, I walked towards the Cullens. They all looked up a bit confused, everyone else in the cafeteria was staring at me as well. 14

Well it would appear that I am crossing an invisible border here, interesting. I thought and smiled. People got worked up over the silliest things. 15

I sat down next to the boy named Edward and looked at the rest of them. 16

“Hi I’m Riley, I’m new. Is it ok if I sit here?” I ask.17

They all look at each other as if silently deciding something. Then one of the girls nodded. Her hair was black with a short style. She was small, she looked like a little pixy. I smile wider and look at the guy across from me. He was big and strong looking, like a body builder. He looked like the football type.18

“Hello I’m Riley.” I say again hoping they would talk. Edward tensed up next to you and seemed not to breath. Strange, the boy next to the small girl seemed to tense up as well. 19

They all looked at one another again and the blonde sitting next to the big body builder looking guy looked at me. 20

“I’m Rosaline, this is Emmett.” she said pointing to the guy next to her. 21

“Nice to meet you.” I said then turned to the pixy like girl and the tensed up boy next to her. 22

“I’m Alice.” said the pixy looking girl. “Jasper.” said the boy next to her.23

I nod and look at Edward, ya I know his name but I wanted him to introduce himself. He didn’t say a thing and I sighed, o well. 24

I sat there in silence. The silence didn’t bother me, what bothered me was the way they all looked at each other like they were speaking to each other in silence. They all glanced at Jasper or Edward frequently. I decided to break the silence.25

“So Emmett, do you like playing football?” I ask.26

“Ya I do, you a Steelers fan?” he says grinning. 27

“Yup. Who’s your team?” 28

“Colts.” he says.29

“Right on, my home team.” I tell him.30

Edward looks at you and finally speaks. “I heard you moved from California?” he questioned.31

“I did.” I say, “But I only lived there for about half a year, before that I lived in Indiana my entire life.”32

He raises an eyebrow and then ignores me once again so I continued my conversation with Emmett. 33

“So Emmett feel like playing some ball this weekend?” I ask, honestly looking for someone to play with other than my brother.34

“I’m not sure, I’ll have to see, But I’ll defiantly think about it.” he says. The next second the bell rang and they put their trays up, leaving me alone at the table.35

I stand up and walk towards the table Mike and his friends were sitting at and grabbed my book. I walk out of the cafeteria and to my locker. I had biology next. I grabbed my stuff and headed toward the class. Walking in there he was, Edward. Sitting once again by himself in the only empty seat. 36

I walk up to the teacher and handed him the paper and he sighed it. 37

“Well” he said looking around the room. “I guess you will have to sit with Edward.”38

I nod and walk to the empty seat next to him. He stiffened again and scooted away to the edge of the table. What WAS his problem with me? I thought. O well, just another person who hates me.39

I let my mind fade in and out during the lesson, thinking about random things. My cell starts to vibrate in my pocket and I take it out and hid it under the table. 40

1 new message. I look at my inbox, there was a text from my mum. 41

Pick up Tater from school.42

I text her back telling her I will and return the phone to my pocket. She was no doubt going to call after school and ask about my day. 43

The bell rang and Edward got out of the room with inhuman speed. Something wasn’t right about him, or his family. There had to be more to them.44

I head towards gym and get dressed. Mike met me at the locker room door. 45

“Hey Riley why did you sit with the Cullen’s today at lunch?” he ask.46

“O I just wanted to know more about them, I’d rather go off my own assumptions than hear what everyone else has to say about them. I really don’t get why no one talks or sits with them.”47

He looks thoughtful and I head towards the gym. P.E. was boring, just the basic stuff what you were going to learn and when. I only really paid attention to when they would start football. 48

When the day was finally over I walk to the office and hand the slip to the woman who had given it to me that morning. 49

I walk out of the office and bump into non other than Edward. I was knocked to the ground, but that’s not what puzzled me, he was hard as stone, and I was sure he felt ice cold in that brief moment I touched him. 50

“O I’m sorry Edward.”51

“It’s ok,” he speaks, his voice soothing. He hold out his hand for me to get up but I ignore it, I could get up fine on my own. I stand and he continues. “Riley would you come talk to me?” he ask.52

“Ya but we have to make it quick, I have to pick up my little brother.”53

“Of course.” he says voice calming and reassuring. 54

He leads me to the parking lot, which was empty at this point. He walks to his car and leans against it. I looked into his eyes, they were black much like my own, only his were pitch black. Coal black. 55

I felt a slight bit of fear, but mostly curiosity. Why did Edward want to talk to ME?56

“Ril-” he was cut off by Alice running toward us.57

“Edward what are you THINKING!?!?!” she yells staring at him. 58

I look puzzling at them both and Alice looks at me. “Sorry Riley we have to go. Now.”59

“It’s ok Alice I gotta go pick up my brother anyway. See yall tomorrow.” I say as I walk off. 60

Ya the Cullens were weird, but I felt that I had to find out why.
