I Thought I Was Your Average Tomboy, That Was Until I Met Him- He Changed EVERYTHING (An Edward Cullen Love Story) Chapter 1

Riley’s POV1

A loud buzzing rings in my ear. Uhhg the alarm clock, how I hate mornings. I ignore the clock, yes I’ll probably be late for my first day of school but does it really matter? Well yes it does, a new school, a new town. I love this town, it’s small and nearly always an overcast with rain. The weather is pretty cool as well. Forks, Washington is my dream town.2

My bedroom door flies open, I know it is my mother. She always wakes me up, I don’t even know why I have an alarm clock I just ignore it. 3

“Get up Riley, come on hun it’s your first day. You don’t want to be late.” she speaks in a soft tone. She is usually nice at her first attempt to wake me up, but it always takes more than one attempt.4

“Riley come on, you have to get ready.” she speaks again a bit more annoyed as I cover my head with my blanket.
“Okay okay, I’m up. I’ll be ready, promise.” I tell her as I sit up slowly.5

She walks out of my room and I rub my eyes. Looking around my room I try to wake up a bit more. The dark blue walls with white stars and moons comfort me, I love the night and my room reminds me constantly of it. 6

Standing slowly I head for the bathroom to get ready for my first day at Forks High School. “11th grade” I think, “Only a year until my last year before college.”7

It was a big thing to think about, leaving for a big crowded college in some big city. I shake my head and look into the mirror. The image I see is blurry, for my contacts aren’t in. My eye sight is so poor, contacts are my life saver. Glasses were a pain. 8

After putting my contacts in, I look into the mirror. I slightly grin at my reflection. My long brown hair still in a tangled bun from the night before. I brush it out and my natural highlights shine in the light. My old friends always went on about my hair, asking if I got it highlighted. I always told them no, which is the truth. My hair just naturally gets blondish and goldish highlights in it when it is in the sun for awhile. Well, I won’t have that problem anymore here, the constant overcast here is so comforting. 9

I brush my teeth and head out of the bathroom, my brother standing in the hallway. We both look at each other and I slightly smile, mornings aren’t my thing I can talk to him later. 10

I head back to my room as Nathan goes into the bathroom. I turn on my stereo, I have to have my music. I had searched the radio stations the week I had moved to Forks. I had found a great country station and I turn to it now. 11

I look through my closet, nearly everything mixed up. I grab some jeans that I saw and a random shirt tee-shirt. My black one, with a burning heart on it, defiantly one of my favorite shirts. I dress quickly and head down the stairs after grabbing my school supplies.
My mum shakes her head when she sees what I am wearing.12

“Riley why don’t you wear one of those cute shirts I bought you last weekend?” she asks. This is never ending, she is always trying to girly me up. 13

“Mum I don’t like CUTE, there is nothing wrong with the way I dress. Let people think what they want.”
She shakes her head, this is nothing new. Always the same thing, what will people think, you need to be a young lady, ext.14

I walk to the kitchen and sit down with a bowl of cereal. I think about my new town. It seems like a miracle, getting out of that school in California. It was so big, and the weather was so sunny. I hated it. Forks thought, Forks is amazing.
I haven’t met many people yet, just a few neighbors who stopped by. Well if you can call them that, I live on the edge of town, away from most of the few houses. But I like it, the small country life is exactly what I love. 15

“Riley” my mum snaps breaking me out of my daze. “You can drive to school, but you have to drop Nathan off at the middle school, ok?”16

“Ya.” I say eagerly, I love driving. I've been driving since I was seven years old. But only earlier this year did I get my actual license.
After finishing my breakfast I called up the stairs. “Tater!!! Come on we got to go.” Nathan comes down. I remember how he used to hate his nickname, but it has stuck since he was barely able to walk. 17

I look at him, we are complete opposites. He is always worried about his appearance and what people think of him. He always wants the new cool cloths. He is the jock, the perfect person the girls drool all over. 18

”Night and Day” I think, “We are like night and day, complete opposites, yet still connected.”
I smile slightly and he grabs his bags heading out the door. Throwing on my Steelers hoddie that is sitting on the back of the couch by the door I walk out behind Tater.19

I look up to see an overcast and it will probably drizzle later, this is perfect. I hop in the truck after Tater and start the engine. I love this truck, it is a classic country car, nothing can be better than it. I start to drive towards Nathan’s school when he talks to me. “How can you be so calm Riles?” he asks. 20

“I’m not sure Tater, everything just seems so perfect. The town, the people, the atmosphere, the weather.” I answer him.21

He slightly frowns, I know he doesn’t like the constant cold and overcast of Forks. 22

“Hey come on cheer up," I tell him pulling up to the school "It's your first day. Go in that school and make every girl fall for you. I’ll play some football with you when we get home kay?” 23

He nods, his wavy blonde hair falling just above his green-blue eyes. A few freckles still visible on his nose from when he was younger. It won’t be hard for every girl in that school to obsess over him. I sigh and pull out of the parking lot, onto the road. 24

I drive to my new school. I know where it is, I had taken a short tour of the small town not long after I moved here. The small group of buildings is now easy to point out. I pull into the parking lot of my new school, awaiting the day.
