Devils Dancers 4

Gabriella spent the rest of lunch flitting from hiding spot to hiding spot.1

He found her every where.2

When the bell went and it was time for them to go to Chemistry, he stuck to her side like glue, she felt his eyes burning into her from where he sat beside her.3

Mr Taklasovia wrote up several complicated equations up on the board and left the class to it. Gabby glared at the page in front of her, writing down each equation the meticulously working them out.4

By the end of the day, Gabby was totally exhausted, she had calmed down and was no longer angry at Devon but she wasn't sure she liked him either.5

When the bell went for the day, she sighed with relief. Then groaned.6

Her dad wouldn't be picking her up today. He had opened his own antiques shop, his obsession with all things old, delicate and chunky coming thourgh into his work life. Gabby didn't mind, she liked the old stuff as much as he did.7

She'd decided she wanted to get into Archeology as a career once she finished school. If she finished school.8

Her dad had a good eye, he could tell a piece that was worth while and which was not, or a piece that was fake and which wasn't.9

But for the next two day's he would be working late due to a shortage of employees.10

Tabby Milskovia, a friendly girl a couple of year older then Gabby, had gotten ill with a bad virus and wasn't able to come in.11

Alessandrove Kovnia could not come in as he was on holidays in America.12

Gabby began the trek home.13

"Gabby" called Peter  as he entered the house.15

The smell of cooked food made his stomach rumble. There was no answer from his daughter.16

He began to worry, she'd gotten even quieter since her mother died and she'd been diagnosed with a terminal tumor at the base of her skull that had embedded its self in her spinal cord.17

The weeks of horrifying blood tests and muttering doctors still gave him night mares.18

They said she had maybe two years to live. That was a year ago now.19

The thought of losing his daughter was unbearable to him. He'd already lost his wife. He would do anything to keep Gab's alive, just to see her smile again, to laugh, carefree and happy.20

Now she was tired all the time. She had made no friends at the school in town. Tabby and Alessandrove were the closest things she had to friends here. She spoke to some of her older friends on MSN almost every night along with Tabby and Alessandrove.21

He ambled into the kitchen.22

Gabby was sitting at the bench, her head resting on her folded arms, her empty plate cold beside her and a maths book open.23

He sighed.24

His little girl could barely stay awake past nine any more. He lifted her gently into his arms and carried her slight body up the stairs and placed her in bed.25

"Gabriella..." sighed Devon against her forehead.27

Gabby looked up at him. "Who are you? I saw you...today... you were at my school" she whispered, her eyes worried, her teeth nibbling her lower lip.28

Devon closed his eyes and leaned his forehead against hers.29

"I'm a nightmare made real...and you're my only salvation" he whispered.

  • I enjoy the cat and mouse, hide and seek happening between Gabby and Devon.
Ahh, the revelation of Gabby's condition. That explains her aloofness, and distant behavior. I'm getting hooked!!
