Fuzion Chronicles: Battle Among the Stars pt1

It was a cool and restless night on Planet Fuzia, as El- Nuju-ken and her crew prepared for their departure. The Elders had been precise, this mission was top secret and highly dangerous, that's why this crew was hand picked by the King himself, coming on this mission would be nine highly trained Fuzion warriors, four pilots and two Junior pilots, "and the success of this mission is crucial.".. Nuju-ken thought as she belted her Fuzion XG Ray to her right side. A pilot by the name of Delt-kan tapped El-Nuju-ken on her shoulder, "We'll be taking off soon." Nuju-ken nodded as she picked up her small sack next to her feet and jogged off behind the pilot.1

Stepping into the ship Nuju-ken loaded her gear in her bay room and began with two other warriors making maintenance rounds. She had just passed the kitchens when Euri-kan, a Junior pilot came running around the corner, the two slammed straight into each other but Nuju-ken being stronger knocked Euri-kan to the bay floor with a loud thud. "OW!" Euri-kan bellowed as he struggled to get up, "Serves you right Euri, you're supposed to be in the main cockpit!" Nuju-ken raised her voice a little as she lifted her friend off the floor. Reaching down to his side she picked up his copters pouch, but Euri-kan snatched the pouch away from her before she could properly give it to him. Nuju-ken slowly lifted her fingers to her nose and sniffed the some what liquefied residue on her hands as Euri-kan stood in front of her complaining about the content of his pouch.
Then suddenly Nuju-ken pulled Euri-kan to the top of the hall where she put him into the small corridor near the cockpit.
"You brought, FUZE on board, didn't you?" She said poking her trigger finger in his chest. "What FUZE? You broke the vile it was in so it's your problem." Euri-kan said defiantly. "My fault? Who was running down the bay deck halls? LIGHTS OF HEAVEN! Boy, what's wrong with you? FUZE is a hazard to everyone on this ship and you know that. Your father raised you better tha-" "Look, don't bring my father in this, okay?" Euri-kan said pulling himself out of Nuju-ken's grip. Nuju-ken sighed as she threw her head back "Well," she said looking back at Euri-kan. "In any case this didn't happen and I will not find you acting in such a reckless manner again. Do I make myself clear solider?"
Euri-Kan bowed his head in a quick nod before entering the cockpit.2

" 'LAUNCH WILL COMMENCE IN ZEN, TE, NI, QUA, POU!' "3

El-Nuju-Ken ran to the second cockpit and belted her self in at not a moment to soon. Outside the hanger door lay open as the launch pad rose to a ninety degree angle while the lower hinges of the pad secured the ship as it began it's slow rise towards the sky. El-Nuju-ken gripped the armrests on her seat as the ship gained speed... for a split second everything was completely still, then... BOOM! They were air born, everyone aboard the ship exchanged smiles and nods with their fellow comrades, but there was a unannounced feeling of apprehension and dread as they traveled through the stars with the fate of their home world in their hands. They were their planet's only hope for survival, just the very thought sent shivers down their spines. 4

"You still nervous after the launch, huh?" El-Nuju-ken had been trying to take off her safety restraints when a pair of familiar hands pushed the release button on the side of her chair. "What, huh? Oh El-Zu-kan, hi. Heh, heh, I keep forgetting they redesigned the pilot chairs." "That's okay, Nuju. You don't have to be polite with me, you know that." Zu-kan said as he held out his hand to Nuju-ken which she took and together they walked to the small rec room and sat by an open window displaying the blurred world-of stars and space debris outside of the ship. Zu-kan sat back in his chair fingering the edges of his uniform, his burgundy eyes fastened on the window's colourful display.
Zu-kan was a Fuzion Warrior who started as a novice pilot and for his ability to quickly adapt to situations gained him favor and he quickly excelled. Now an elite warrior, and just 26,000 years old, and only 50 out of 3,000 ever reach such a leave at a young age. But that's why he was chosen just as the rest of the crew.
Nuju-ken's eyes rested on the table as she nervously waited for Zu-kan to speak.
"You know I never thought that we'd come to this. I mean, I can't believe that the Se-Quals would challenge us like this, especially after so many years of peace. It's like they're a completely different people." Zu-kan's voice was so low it was almost a whisper. Nuju- ken shook her head and looked at her friend, "Zu, what's really bothering you, you could care less about the Se-Quals and their break of treaty. What's going on? Is it your brother?" she leaned over the table reaching for his attention as she spoke but he pulled further back and turned his head away from the window, towards the door. "How do you always know when I need the talk, huh." those burgundy eyes of his slowly found their way to Nuju-ken's teal blues. Nuju-ken blushed and looked away but quickly returned her gaze as she answered, "Just a guess."
