What It Feels Like for a Girl (Part 8)

Three Weeks Later ~1

Daniel Harrison returned to his girlfriend's apartment, bearing gifts of a dozen red roses, chocolates, and an expensive diamond bracelet. He had been trying to get in contact with her but she had not returned his calls nor had she answered his letters. He planned to give her the roses, the chocolates, and the bracelet then take her out to dinner and hope to patch things up. 2

Once he arrived at her building, he rode the elevator up to the third floor, walked down the hall to her door, and knocked loudly but received no answer. "Shaun, Shaun," he said, as he continued knocking on the door. Finally knocking turned to banging until the neighbor across the hall opened her door.3

"Are you looking for Shaun?" the older woman asked him.4

"Yeah, have you seen her?"5

"She moved out a couple of weeks and hasn't been seen since. Her sisters came and moved her stuff out shortly after she left. It's a pity, she was such a nice girl."6

Daniel felt his anger boiling up inside of him. "Yeah, um, if you should hear from her, can you tell her that Daniel Harrison is looking for her."7

"I sure will, young man," the woman said before closing her door.8

Daniel stalked back to the elevators and went back down to the lobby. On his way out, he threw the roses and chocolate away in a nearby dumpster but kept the diamond bracelet. He was going to get his Shaun back whether she was willing or unwilling. If he couldn't have her then no one could...9

Life with Alex was like heaven to Shaun for he would pamper her and not let her do anything. Most mornings he would surprise her with breakfast in bed, make her lunch, and make her favorite foods for dinner. And with each passing day she spent with him, she found herself falling in love with him. 11

When she would wake screaming from a nightmare about her ex, he would come and lay beside her, holding her until she went back to sleep before he would leave again. Alex did not complain nor did he scold her for acting like a child. He showed nothing but constant love and patience towards her whenever she balked at the idea of going into the city. Sheridan and Treylan had cleaned out her apartment weeks ago and Alexander had given her a place to stay for as long as she needed it, however, Shaun knew that the time would come for her to face her fears as well as her ex-boyfriend.12

Finding the courage to stand up to Daniel was going to be hard for the young woman to find within herself...but she had to do if she was ever going to have any kind of peaceful future for herself and Alexander.
