The Teddy Bear

Missing image
Ragged and torn,1

Ripped and dirty,2

Hard and unloved,3

Broken beyond belief,4

Hating.5

That’s how he was found by the little girl but she saw something deeper. She saw:6

Abused and neglected,7

Alone and scared,8

Hurting.9

She picked him up and carried him home while he struggled in her embrace. He was strong but she knew in time he would break with just a bit of love and understanding. She wanted to be there for him because somehow this fighting teddy had touched her heart.10

At home she stuffed him with care and stitched up each tear lovingly. He fought less as time went by but she knew he still wasn’t complete. The years of abuse and neglect he was forced to endure had not only roughed up his outside but had also hardened and knotted the little bit of stuffing he had left. 11

This little girl hoped that with enough tender care, lots of hugs and just being there this rough and tumble teddy bear would someday realize he was worthy of love and happiness. The awful past not forgotten but left behind and forgiven.

Author notes

Week 1

Today- Friday \seventh of November
Write a poem or a prose piece about what it means to love someone with all your heart or what it means to be loved. Describe what someone does for someone else when they truly love them- how far they would go to keep them from hurting!
It can be any type of love- it doesn't not have to be romantic in fact unless its really sweet and really un cliche I won't like it if its romantic. Brownie points for friend love or someone younger than you.
Try to stay under 2000 words but if you have to go over message me.
No prewrites for this unless you already have one for it in which case message me within twenty four hours of submitting it or message me first. I may take it out though if I don't think it fits.

Awww... so cute, sad, and loving all at once. The imagery in this was great, in fact I could see the duality in it; both bear and man. There's so much emotion and wonderful feelings going on while she's patching him up.

    wonderful story.

  • A very interesting poem/story but not really suitable for bedtime reading to a seven-year-old. Sorry

  • This should have been awarded something and I was positively gleaming when I saw that you had won a bronze and a gold trophy..That was just so heart wrenching and sinful and I know inside me I should not be gleaming because the beginning made me wonder were you were taking this and I instantly got aroused >..< but as I read on it was so beautifully written with so much compassion and it brought a tender tear to my eye >.., Bad Blair

Congratulations on the Gold and Bronze.

Very nice, I like this. I can totally relate to it on many levels. Your writing evokes a great deal of emotions and I am sure that you are releasing them as you write. I can relate to that too!
