Student Rubbish

It was that night that I first witness of one of Chloe and Chris’s legendary “fights”. To this day I never knew what started it, mainly because me and Katie we packing up the game of Life that we had playing whilst me, Stuart and Chris (not a contestant) were high, when we heard a scream from Chloe. Katie and I ran for the kitchen door only to find Chris and Chloe with full bin bags in their hands, swiping them at each other with such force that crisp packets and baked bean tins we scattered all over the corridor. It escalated when Chris darted across Chloe and threw his bag as far into Chloe’s room as he could. This followed with a yell from Chloe as Chris darted to his room and lock the door to prevent retaliation. This was followed by Chloe grabbing her bag and going up to Chris’s door and shouted “I’m going to bed now, It’s over”, at which point I believed her lie until be stomped her feet pretending to go down the corridor, something I though would never work, when Chris threw open the door to prove that it wasn’t over, when Chloe threw her bin bag in such a way that most of its contents spilled into Chris’s room, something that he had failed to do. He then ran and Chloe and grabbed her whilst she was struggling to get into the kitchen. She pointed vigorously and the multiple bags of weed meaning to hid it from Chris. I was defiant that I wasn't going to get involved. Rather watch this theatrical performance than take part. Katie however did not share this opinion when she grabbed the weed and shoved it up were jumper, a disguise that was blatantly obvious. When we opened the door, Katie went straight to her bedroom nursing her new “baby”, while I had noticed that one of the bags had been deliberating emptied in the corridor and trailing into Chris’s room. Chloe then darted passed me into the living room tying to get past Chris. I was standing there grinning like a twat when Chris nudged passed me talking to Chloe in a way that meant we didn’t know if he was joking or not. “This ain’t funny Chloe, clean it up” I went past them to Katie’s where she was stood in that way where she made little noise but shook with laughter. Suddenly, the door behind me made sounds of someone very pissed unlocking their door wondering what the fuck was going on that was keeping her from sleeping. My heart darted in to my mouth as I ran as fast as I could to the kitchen door in a similar manor to when I was camping at Scouts and one of the leaders would undo the tent to tell us to shut up. Realizing who stupid I must have looked, I burst into hysterics as Katie’s flat mate came out and in a voice that oozed venom told Chloe and Chris to keep it down as she had to get up early. After apologies from the both of them, Chloe matched into the kitchen and grabbed a bin liner and shook it open I then watched them tentatively tidy up, Chloe holding the bag open while Chris threw the rubbish in. This was slowly achieved despite Chloe occasionally would step back so the litter would fall to the ground and Chris then throwing said litter at Chloe’s face. It was when Chris had picked up the larger parts of the trash when he looked at the floor and said “Right, now its time for the slimy bits when Chloe let out the highest pitched “Yuck” which was followed by me repeating the previous fits of laughter. When the work was done, Chris grabbed the bag and made to run into Chloe’s room which resulted in Chloe’s exasperated plea for mercy. Chris went back to his room and placed the bag in the corridor.1

This was the time that I thought it was best to leave and picked up my belongings and returned to the hall way to leave when Chris was insisting on a high-five.2

“Noooo, your hands have rubbish on them”3

“So have yours”4

He turned his hand to me which I accepted and opened the door to leave shouting goodbyes to the flats inhabitants, still hearing the protests of Chloe and the laughter of Chris. I had no idea whether this incident was over soon after I left or hours later.5

I had heard of these confrontations from the likes of Katie, Stuart and Chloe herself, such as an episode that had resulted in a mixture of shampoo and baked beans being plastered all over Chloe and Chris’ bedroom doors, but these talks after the fights paled in comparison to witnessing it firsthand.
