Self-Destruction

What has happened to this world today?
Where suicide is a household name.
Where all hope is gone,
And our wars are still not done.1

What has happened to this world today?
Where you can get love if you pay.
Where It costs too much to live,
And no one ever gives.2

What has happened to this world today?
Where you can be killed any time of day.
Where lovers lie,
And the Lied ones die.3

We bring upon our own Self-destruction,
But no one cares about the reconstruction
We need to Wake up from our slumber,
And begin to wonder:4

How would this world be,
With out a world to see?

    A realistic look at the world

    The world certainly seems to be turning against itself - it seems suicidal. This song portrays that excellently.

    It's kind of short, with no choruses, but it rides on its merit of unabiased truth and perspective of the world today.

      My readers just don't understand the poem

      I wrote this not to point out all the bad things on earth, but to make people realize all the bad things so maybe we can change before the really bad things happen

    This is definitely a good start. One that I totally agree with. When you hear about someone taking a gun to their head on TV nowadays we no longer feel upset. It's like this everyday occurance.

    And sometimes I too think that hope is gone.... however, I then think that so long as I have hope for the future... then there's a little hope still out in the world. Not all things that happen are negative. There are positive things in the world. We just need to look for them... not just stop at all the negative things.

    Good job so far. It brings about very interesting discussions.

      I wrote the peom because in this week alone, 3 of my friends have talked about suicide. One of them wouldn't accept any help, and thought that she ruined every one's lives. I know that there is positive in the world, but looking around, it's in all the wrong places.
